Hi! So I’m an incredibly casual player, hopping on for two weeks or so every couple of months. Last I played was pre-raid release.

As I do not have much time to play I have relied on sites like metabattle to help me with builds and selecting stats for my lone set of ascended gear. I have not played since Raids came out as I was waiting on the community finding Guard ‘s proper niche in a raid, but now months later there’s still nothing on metabattle for Raids for guardians.

Are guards that bad in Raids? Are there any currently acceptable builds for raiding as a guard?

Hey, a quick question for those that have delved into the raid already: is Ascended armor a must-have to complete the raid or is Exotic sufficient if necessary? I’d like to jump into the raid, but have not yet crafted any Ascended armor and would like to try out a few different types of armor before committing to a specific prefix for my Ascended set.

(I am a Guardian).

I don’t understand why everyone wants into T1 so bad when T2 is more “competitive” for lack of a better word.

T1 WvW:

ZERRRRGGGGGGG!!!!

T2 WvW:

Primary Objectives – ZERRRRGGGGG!!!!
Supply Depots, Etc. – Roaming strike teams

In T2 a small, coordinated 5-man team can meaningfully contribute to WvW and there are still very few “dead” hours of the day. In T1 the only way you can do anything is join a blob and while blobs are fun for a little while, for the most part they are not strategic, at least not in my experience.

I’ve been in highly coordinated 40v40 world PvP matches in WoW where communication and strategy are actually very important, but I just haven’t seen that in this game during my (admittedly somewhat limited) time playing.

Hi, I know the standard PvE setup for Guardian is GS & S/F, but why not S/T? Torch seems to do more damage than Focus, could someone give me the math?
