WvW Roamer looking for a fun bunch!

Include our guild into your consideration as well! We’re from Far Shiverpeaks.

We’ll be having 15-25 man events but are pretty easy-going with how much you need to participate. Usually people team up and do roaming during the days, in a sort of “spur of the moment” thing.

Bumped for victory.

Scildweall [ScW] is still looking to fill out their ranks, mainly with warriors, guardians, elementalists, and necromancers; all others are welcome as well.

Scildweall [ScW], http://scildweall.com/, is looking to fill up their roster (up to 40 man).

We aim to host 15-25 man events and will look into participating in GvG once we have the numbers.

The guild consists of people from different parts of Europe and a few from North America who enjoy playing together to form a well-functioning fun community, both in and outside of World vs. World. [ScW] aim to have 40 members in total. We believe in the strength of the group instead of trust in numbers. Our goal is that the guild and the community around it will last beyond the lifespan of Guild Wars 2.

We’re currently most interested in Warriors, Guardians, and Necromancers, but all other professions are welcome to apply as well!

Being able to participate in voice chat is a requirement (you don’t have to be able to speak unless you’re scouting).

You can read more about us and our community rules here:

I got “Coalforge’s Weapon Chest” from level 28 fractal (can’t recall if it was random loot or bonus chest though).

Scaling score to resistance

We were having this random conversation in Eternal Battleground when the idea was formed. I figured I’d drop it here on the forums and see what you guys think about it.

Should the points gained from the tally be scaled appropriately towards the number of enemy players you currently face?

In this example I will be using only two servers to simplify the math. It is most definitely possible scaling in the same manner towards three servers.

Stonemist gives 35 points each countdown. Scaling score to how much resistance you currently face within the map means to lower these points in a correlated manner to how many enemy players there are on the map.

If you’re on the side with most players (currently) you’re what makes up 100%. Check enemy forces and see how large the difference is in percentage. If you’re 20 guys on your server and 10 on the other server that means there’s a 50% difference in power. Subsequently, your server should only be rewarded 50% of the initial 35 points given by Stonemist (in this case 17.5 points).

The player-based reward (loot, wxp, and so on) should still remain the same to promote people to play regardless of their numbers. To avoid confusion during high activity you could easily make this function go inactive if there are X amount of players on the map (set the X appropriately). There’s probably a number of other conditions you could implement to keep this function viable (but can’t think of any right now).

This would still allow people to enjoy the game at all times at full benefit but it would also rule out the terrible situation for servers with specific times of activity (i.e. servers without players during night).

What do you guys think? Would this be viable or would it destroy the concept of fair game?

I don’t use cheats, alt f4,exploit or something … i think I am a fair player.
Btw I’ve found an important NPC : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Siegemaster

I didn’t mean you in particular. Your contineous efforts of squandering my points with silly sarcasm does you no credit whatsoever, so not sure why you’re trying.

Fact: the puzzle provides an amount of blueprints above the ones you buy.

Your server don’t play fair and square. Most people I meet say so. It’s a subjective thing. Take it for what it is and move on. Don’t be offended, silly.

Must be pked with no mercy. Honor instead for the fighters, both winners and losers

That is the most silly and hypocritical thing I’ve ever heard. The puzzle is an important point similar to any other, due to the blueprints it has to offer.

There is not a single person who only does the puzzles, so I don’t know where you got the idea that those in the puzzle do not fight; maybe it’s because that’s how it works on your server, where same people camp the same spot for hours in and out? I can certainly see how you would see that as dishonourable.

Once again, I have no problem with people being effective or merciless. This is merely a game and some hate is inherent after all.

Just don’t try to appear as some good guy. Your mere kind of reply reflects so well at the point I’m getting at; you people don’t fight fair and square. No more, no less.

Kudos for going to such extremes just to win, I just hope you don’t end up being owned in your own kind of game once you get up to T1.

Regards,
Raa Loid

To any people wondering what Sparviere replied to; that post was removed by a moderator due to trying to circumvent their swearing filter. Apparently bullkitten (you know what it really says) is a swear and needs to be censored.

I find people funny who say certain imbalances are “part of the game” and that “this is warfare”; that is sure a convenient thing to say when you are not on the receiving end of a flawed design.

I like the original concept for WvWvW, but a few key elements sprung out of ArenaNets idealistic views seems to be destroying it in practicality.

It is a wonderful idea that every persons time is equally worth and all; but as complaints over timezones have proven, that is not the case. It’s sad to see Farshiver Peaks taking a beating while people stubbornly cling to a concept that obviously does not bring balance nor equal fun (opposite of one-sided fun).

No matter what you say, a lot of people have stopped playing, drastically lowering our forces. I’m pretty sure there are plenty of opponents who are bothered by the near complete absence of another server in WvWvW. I don’t count sporadic zergs or temporary weekends of activity as “presence”.

Playing to win might be challenging and certainly sooths the feathers of some people. But playing to win also requires more dedication and effort; this effectively squares out the casual people.

By having a system that counts points so frequently and has a 24/7 uptime you advocate escalation of activity; in example, if two servers play to win and one servers rapidly increases in activity and the other server decides to do the same, the overall amount of hecticness and stress has been knocked up another notch.

This may be fine for a while but eventually you get to the point where it would be disruptive to your everyday activities to actually take part of WvWvW as it was meant to be.

I think ArenaNet needs to update their views; they are fine in theory and have been sprung out of a sense of equality and a welcoming spirit towards customers, but in reality it’s just exactly the opposite.

I would love to see a change sometime soon, otherwise people will be leaving. I know a lot of people say “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”; but as someone pointed out, if people continue boycotting WvWvW, there will be no enemies left.

All that will be left are guilds and scattered people jumping servers to be in the winning server, leaving all sense of loyalty, unity or identity behind. That, in my eyes, does not equal fun, and even if it did in your eyes, this strongly goes against ArenaNets original views.

With having all that said, yeah, I don’t really have any high hopes against Seafarer’s Rest; they have a bunch of no-lifer guilds who’d rather spend time winning than actually having fun. And no, I’m not talking about zerging or mindlessly fighting out in the open; I’m talking about having an actual war of tactics that require adaptation and strategy.

To hell going to another borderland because the resistance is less. That is plain lame; but I guess whatever floats your boat.

I rest my case.
