I don’t think that’s the reason I’m not a big fan of the mesmer, it’s just not giving me the same feel it had in Guild Wars 1 (I mained a Necro primarily, then a Mesmer, Assassin, and Dervish).
I do appreciate the insight though! I saw a thief post about the guide of guides and that was definitely really cool and is pushing me a bit towards a thief as of now, I just hope they can do dungeons effectively too. WvW zergs aren’t a huge deal for me right now because my computer truthfully can’t handle fights of that magnitude, so that’s not a main concern for me right now (which I guess makes Necro even less preferable?)
Thanks for the insight!
Any other opinions, most importantly about multiple viable builds?
Hey guys, so I’m somewhat new to GW and I’m trying to decide which profession to roll. My highest as of now is a level 40 Mesmer, and I’m not really enjoying him too much outside of sPvP.
I’m picking right now between Necro, Warrior, and Thief to level up next and there are a few different criteria which I want to base it on.
1 – Leveling speed
2 – Dungeon Viability
3 – sPvP Viability and WvW Roaming capability
4 – More than 1 or 2 viable builds (I like to switch up my builds a lot and having only 1 or 2 viable ones to use isn’t really very fun to me)
5 – Fun (is it lame?)
Thanks so much for reading!
I’m not arguing that the mechanic is bad, I’m saying that veil already exists, so an elite that isn’t much better than a utility (almost the exact same usage etc.) seems redundant. I know that the shield that reflects projectiles is Mesmer-esque, but the skill that we have now lasts for 4 seconds and only reflects one projectile, when most enemies shoot more than 1 at a time in a volley fashion, blocking and reflecting one minute projectile is not that effective and is almost never more valuable than many other utilities that Mesmers have. Why not improve this skill and rid the class of redundancies?
So I was watching the Mr Prometheus Mesmer guide (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6s-m1Hs_M0 – part 3), and he made a comment about how Mass Invisibility is a bit redundant (mesmers have veil, why is this elite needed), and how mimic/echo as a group of skills is a bit (severely) underwhelming. Why not take out mass invisibility, and change Mimic/Echo to an elite that absorbs multiple projectiles and shoots them back? Not only would that be awesome, but it would be unique, powerful (fitting of its elite status), and very mesmer-esque.
Anyone else agree?
