Official state of skill lag and server optimizations

Since the latest post here was 3 months ago, I figured I’d post to see if there has been any update on the status of the servers?

For the past month or so I’ve been experiencing pretty nasty skill lag, and generally when I run a ping trace, I’m losing about 10% of my packets once they hit NCSoft servers during non-peak time and around 70-90% of packets during CST peak time.

Was just curious if there was any sort of update on this front?

A Case Study in ANet Communication

Well done analysis of what’s been going on. It definitely gives a good perspective on how a good chunk (or at least what seems to be a good chunk) of the player base is viewing Anet’s actions with this whole patch and gem store release.

Honestly? It comes across as playing chicken with the playerbase. Who’s going to cave first, the players who decide to keep playing anyway because they love the game….or the company who needs the players to keep their game going and profitable?

The question then, is what now? All this has happened, so where do we go from here? I think what the OP outlines as a possible solution is certainly a step in the right direction, and may take steps to help repair the relationship that Anet has with its playerbase. In the end though, it needs to go further with transparency.

As an ~ishly side note, I’d be quite interested to see these “metrics”, “surveys” and “other data” that Anet is using to change and tweak their game. It may provide some insight into why Anet is doing what they are doing.

(Concept) 25 Stacks of Might? Yes please !

Hey guys,

~snipfu

I guess when it comes down to it with a build like this, the question has to be how much you are sacrificing (also what you are sacrificing) in order to achieve might stacking on a thief. If your answer comes down to something that you can live with it and your group (or pugs or whatever you run with) can live with, then go for it.

If the sacrifice is too great, as it appears to be from time to time on a build like this on a thief, then it comes down to what you are looking at doing with your particular build.

Its a good idea though, and well-thought-out concept.

Operation: Union - Bringing Players Together

Just ran across this thread, honestly was kinda wondering where a thread of this type was in this forum. Its a good idea!

Name: Loperdos
Main Character: Laniadas
Current Server: Sanctum of Rall
Interested Activities: EVERYTHING!…..though, less sPvP at this point, perhaps I’ll get into it at some point.
Active: Early mornings (CST) and the occasional evening.
Additional Comments: Always always always looking for people to run with and talk to. I get the feeling a lot of times that people don’t like to initiate conversation within the game. There are times the community seems a bit…well…lacking. Hopefully something like this will help change things. Feel free to add me in-game, whether you are on my server or not!
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’s Project? Yes, definitely.

EDIT: I am currently invested in the Sanctum of Rall server, seeing as my guild is here (its a small guild of friends and family), but am truly looking forward to the “guesting” idea, sounds like a great idea!

See you all in-game!

Feedback: Mobile Two-Factor Authentication

Been using the Mobile Authenticator since it was enabled for GW2 and have not had any issues with it. Works like a charm, and gives a better sense of security.

I also very much appreciate that when I attempt to log into the website with my account that it also asks for the authenticator number as well.
