Should the movement speed increase from One with Air apply to all movements, and not just movement forward? Currently, it does not seem to affect movement speed for backpedal or strafing.
nor does swiftness, so One with Air is working as intended.
Speed is capped at 133% (which is the speed you have with swiftness),
you will only notice the +100% speed from one with air if you’re crippled, chilled or in any other way slowed.
hi together,
i noticed yesterday while playing with my laptop (i7-720QM with HD5850 and 8GB Ram) that i only got 22fps in the (to that time) nearly empty SAB entrance area, which is why i started experimenting with the different video settings.
But… even with lowest settings i didn’t really see any increase, so i went on and deleted the 60mb big local.dat, but didn’t expect any noticeable increase (since i already tried auto-detect settings). Surprisingly after that my fps went much higher, up to 37fps.
Curious about what’s causing this i slowly started restoring my old settings:
I repeated that multiple times in windowed and fullscreen mode and vsync on and off: the FPS Limiter is always reducing my fps far below cap.
In the SAB World 1 Entrance (where you chose the difficulty) i get 90fps without limiter, and switching it to 30 leads to stable 22fps.
Switching it in the same area to 60 leads to stable 33fps.
Going to a more crowded area (Trader’s waypoint in Lions Arch at 3pm, sunday on elona reach):
No Limiter: 34fps
60 FPS Limiter: 33fps
30 FPS Limiter: 22fps
Did anyone else experience this? I usually use the limiter to prevent overheating.
@LordPhantom: aura share is good I know. But I find that protection is needed to go on a melee ball (just for few seconds), and protection on aura is what helps me most on it.
That’s why i suggested using 0/0/10/30/30. Aura Share + Protection on aura.
Short summary of the video:
Decide yourself, if you want to watch it.
To the build:
I personally would see 0/0/10/30/30 with aura sharing as the better team build for small- to midscale fights, as long as you’re using boon duration runes (see BlackBeards Post above).

Also, for the record, the sound card hasn’t got much to do with how sounds are cached and processed. Actually, that’s what the system memory and processor are for! The sound card merely facilitates playback to your listening device (speakers/headphones), and what receives input from a non-USB microphone if you’re using voice chat.
So… if i understand that correctly: Even if i use a X-Fi Chip with XRAM (Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1 for example) that processing power is (in case of audio playback) only used for some sort of audio post-processing?
It seems Gandara EU have their temple captured… I’m now confused as to what is going on.
The temple on Gandara closed just the minute after i got a free guesting slot… yay :s
edit: Piken Square is now open. There are still heroes in this world!

i can confirm this.
The NPCs got nearly instantly killed by the aoe circles leading to a moral drop from 100% to 0% in 3 seconds.
For the price they’re listed they have to be salvageable and forgeable.
So this is either a bug, or a really, really bad joke.

I actually made a video recording of this “bad optimization” with the current patch in the worst possible Situation: WvW Zergs (not the biggest ones around here, but sufficient in size i would say): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y60lzf-BGo
Without the Recording the FPS is usually around 12 fps higher in the same situations, which is still quite low for the system specs.
What i noticed with this patch:
Pre-patch i could gain around 5fps by lowering the shader and shadow details in zerg situation. No, neither the gpu nor the cpu were at 100% usage at that point, but the gpu usage ironically happened to increase after lowering those settings. This seems no longer possible with the current patch (at least on my machine).
I guess a part of the calculations of the shaders and shadows were (or are?) done on one or more already cpu intensive threads which are blocking the GPU from working with it’s full potential.

Actually 3 CPU “intensive” threads (taking at least 50% a core each) looking at the game in Process Explorer from SysInternals. That over 70% of the game’s load in those three threads.
Looks like this on my side (Lions Arch in front of the bank; FX8350):

As long as GW2’s one large CPU thread (i’m not talking about the many little ones) slows down the entire system i can’t get my GTX680 to 100% usage anyway, so no reason to upgrade for me (and most likely for a lot of others too).
Your only options are to either go for AM3+, Overclock you current cpu (which you doesn’t seem to want^^), or switch to intel.
You can see a short video of a quite similar system (if you would upgrade to a AM3+ with a FX8350) in some zerg situations here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7k8EoyS4ak&feature=youtu.be
Seems to me quite decent if we keep in mind ( that ) it is recording and compressing the video data at the same time @ 2k resolution (but the fps counter in the menu seems somewhat wrong; it looks a lot smoother).
Nonetheless a i7 is more expensive but should perform better in the same situation, while a i5 (ivy bridge; haswell should be out of question better) should be quite similar or slightly better at stock clock rates.
As always it only depends on the inside of your wallet.

I didn’t suffer this in WvW (Whiteside Ridge as well) but I had it every 10 minutes when I was doing some world completion in Orr earlier; thought I had a corrupted client so did a rebuild and it seemed ok after doing that – start the client with the “- rebuild” command line switch. Could be complete coincidence of course.
-rebuild doesn’t seem to be a valid command line option.
Did you mean -repair?
