I swear if you cant get your heal off with healing turret you are an embarrassment to engies. This is a complete learn to play issue, with barely any induction it cant be interruped and now can be canceled due to counter play. Use your heal smarter…

I think someone needs to learn to read.

It depends on the situation. OP mentioned it in their post. You used to be able to drop Healing Turret in a batch on heavy conditions to give you that extra health and condition removal, and even have it possibly give you an extra tick of regen before it died, but now that’s not possible to do. It can still be used, but it needs to be placed where it won’t get cleaved at all. I’ve noticed significant changes to its survivability where, even in team fights, the turret will just die almost immediately after placing it because the entire area is covered in AoE.

pretty much this exactly. Try dropping the turret in the middle of a nerco mark, or a warrior hambow fire field, or or (you get the idea) and watch it disappear. I have a 300+ ping so i’m sure that’s not helping, but it often dies before I can even detonate it, dispite spamming the keys to try and do so, meaning my heal fails and i die.

I also disagree with the comments the healing turret is OP, it is just our other healing skills are lack luster at best.

I mainly play pvp so is related to this more so than pve. I understand the need for the “nerf” to the turret engineer, but this has now completely messed up the healing turret which for me was the main form of healing.

The turret now often dies before you have a chance to gain anything from it and in most cases dies before it can be detonated, which makes this “nerf” even worse. Why does healing turret have to be part of this nerf? its not OP, not part of a problem? but now it is very hard to use and makes the survivability very bad.

drop the turret on any form of aoe and it dies pretty much as you lay it down and usually before you even have the chance to detonate for the water field heal. These are often the times you need to heal the most and you don’t have time to run 200 mtrs over to the other side of the map to avoid the aoe just so you can drop the turret and get a successful heal.

large and multiple aoe fields with massive condition damage just make this worse, especially when fighting over a capture point

i’m hoping they will fix this, but any suggestions what direction i should go in the mean time? as i’ve now gone from being able to survive a bit of a fight, to dying very quickly….

I dont and never have played a turret engineer, however healing turret was the conerstone of the/my engineering healing. I want to ask if healing turret was also affected by this change?

since this patch I find my total survivability has dropped significantly as it seems the instant I drop my healing turret to heal its gone and presumably dead?

can anyone else please confirm this?

btw way I run flame thrower, bombs and tool kit as my skills

Iv’e been running my updated spec over the last day in WvW, and the changes have made an improvement. and I’d say mainly in my escape ability through rocket boots which in turn help me last longer. I still get chewed up by some players and conditions are still a problem.

I’m not sure on healing turrent, as I find it locks you down to one place so have been switching between a the healing types to try and find a sweet spot. I have not bought AED is this worth looking into?

For sPvP the engine is a lot of fun especially with the balances that are set up in that style of play. Warriors are still stupid hard to kill, but I know this from playing my warrior.

its not your build its condition damage being broken

with dire gear

my condi damages so far are around this

12-15 bleed=2300 damage per second
burn=2000-2500 damage per second
confusion 10-12 stacks =2000-2500 per action(as engi this is bad cuz kit swap,and tool belt count as actions ontop of all other actions)
poison 500-700 damage per second+ 33% heal reduction
Torment 5 stacks=9k damage in 7-8 seconds

this numbers become way ridiculous when you got 2 guards empowering condi users

Even with 3k condition damage Burning doesn’t even get close to 2000 per tick. Poison doesn’t get anywhere near that amount either.

Not to say condition damage isn’t crazy, but you went a little overboard here

i run 2000 condi damage without might but yes i did miss the burningand poison damage however other than that the rest where not too far off from the damage i get burning is till over 1k per second and poison is about 200

however get some might goin on and this numbers escalate oscenely might does add 875 power and condi at 25 stacks

Would you be able to link me to your amour stats to get that much condition dmg?

Thank you for all of your replies. All of you are right and i think my mistakes stem from trying to copy what works in sPvP and mix it with half a WvW build.

I find my biggest problem is 1v1 or 1v 2-4 where I was being downed before i could even react.

I think I will also get myself a condition armour set as well to see if that works, but will have to look at that build. The thing is I really don’t like using bombs, and am ok with nades but they get annoying after a while. I much prefer, rife / pistol shield, elixir gun, tool kit and FT.

As you all pretty much said FT is mainly good in zergs, and I think my wish of making it work in the world of roaming might be overzealous

I recently decked out my engineer with gear after levelling a few other characters, and have a build as per the following link.

When playing in WvW I find myself being killed so fast it’s not funny. Is this build bad? I thought that with knights gear I would at least have some toughness but i’m becoming depressed in the speed in which I die.

The idea is to have a somewhat tanky rifle/FT build, but perhaps I failed. Is there that big a gap between exotics and ascended gear?

Really appreciate some tips on making me not die so fast. I have maybe enough gold for one other armour set if it’s the way forward.

As a note I play Spvp and do reasonably well.

Appreciate any help.

I’m sure it’s been said before, but i’ll say it again, where’s our STABILITY? We have one accessible in the form of RAO, but it is on a huge cool down …… It is murder with out some form of accessible stability!

I know of the signet of the beast master, but 30 points is not really “accessible”,

Thieves, mesmers, engineers and necros are asking the same question bro, only 3 profs that have easy/accessible stability access are ele , warrior and guardian .

Granted, engis do have a slightly more accessible way of getting stability via toss elixir B now, but that’s about the end of the list.

I agree with you, though the difference here is that the other classes you list have reasonable escape means i.e. blink/stealth, and the ranger generally has to stand and take it in the face… Engis do do ok as you say (i have one).

Thanks for the replies, I guess part of my issue may be that I am in Australia on a High WvW server, thus, I am mostly facing Ascended gear opponents with a low ping compared to mine.

So by the time anything registers on my screen I have already taken 2 maybe 3 hits from a thief, and some of them 4-6 k each……… I might need to try a regen bunker build and see if this helps me survive a few more hits… is apothecary or clerics the way forward there?

I recently levelled a ranger to 80, bought a full rabid set for a trapper build, and have 2994 armour. I go down to thieves in 3-4 hits as well.

I’m at a loss other then to go full PVT gear, but i’m not sure if that will help me? any suggestions?

I would like to try and get some survivability (which I thought I was with 3k armour) but I was wrong

Hi

I somewhat newish to the ranger (Level 54), and have been playing mostly WvW and sPvP. And now that you can level in sPvP with tomes, this is where I am focusing, but will drift back to WvW now and then.

As of yesterday (after watching a few other ranges play) I have switched towards a trapper spec ranger, having been playing a longbow style ranger(30/10/30/0/0). The long bow was fun, but as soon as a class got close I was basically dead, or running for my life to get out of the focus zone.

I would consider myself an average player, though with the trapper build I was a top of the score board on most games I played, and able to go toe to toe with most classes except for a few hard counters, and come out on top 70%-80% of the time.

The build is
(0/30 (II,VIII,XI) /30 (III,VIII,XI) /5/5) which i think is a standard build and I am now using a SB and Axe/Torch or Longbow as my weapons. Runes are of the undead and I am using the rabid amulet. sigils are agony or 60% chance to bleed/burn.

Is there a better trait synergy for this build or better traits I could try to improve aspects of this build? or is there an overall better trapper build?

I’m new to this so any feedback appreciated

I have noticed that a hundred blades (warrior) damage in the chat log verses the displayed damage above the target are different and inconsistent.

Other damage on other skills seems to log correctly.

Hey mate ill explain this one for you,

The damage you are seeing above the players is the damage added up from all the hits not from a single strike and in the chat log it show’s the damage separate, other wise it would cloud the entire screen in damage :P.
