Hey thanks for the replies. My guild is a group of RL friends that like to WvW together. We all played DAOC together back in the day, and this is as close as it gets for me. All of them stopped playing GW2, but if/when they come back, and I transferred off, it doesn’t sound like i’ll be able to WvW with them again.

I suggest that CS gets a bit of up-to-date training in how Server population works, and what PvE stands for, truly.

As noted above, there’s not a lot to be done, but watch WvW populations, especially when Match-ups change. Do remember, should your friend’s Server be matched with your Server, you two can play in WvW together as long as the match-up stays.

I’ve been keeping an eye on SBI’s population, it hasn’t changed since I first noticed it was full. (checked mid day, in middle of night etc) Neither of us have any desire to pve or pvp, I think our only option at this point is a refund, sadly. I haven’t even pre-ordered the game yet, I may just go play path of exile with him instead.

Response from ArenaNet: I can understand wanting to try and get on the same server as your friends and guild. It’s always more fun to play with your friends than on your own.

At the moment the server you’re wanting to transfer to is Full. Once a server is full, the server closes the doors until the population moves. This is done for balancing out the server, making it easier for the servers to run and to try and balance out WvW events as well.

As a result, Customer Support is not be able to assist in transferring you to full servers.

But not to worry! People are always coming and going! If people start to leave the server then you’ll be able to move in! You’ll have to keep an eye on the Server Transfer page to see when this happens, as we are unable to save anyone’s place. It’s first-come-first-serve.

Plus, while you may not be able to participate in World vs. World with your friend, you can still participate in Player Vs. Everyone and Player vs. Player with your friend, so you can still play together!

One thing to keep in mind is that people tend to switch servers around the time a WvW is going on. If you’re able to keep track of which server is going against which server, sometimes you can beat people to the punch by bouncing onto another server just as it’s announced! Either that or just hop into a server as the flood of WvW folks are leaving.

I know this isn’t the exact answer you were hoping for but I hope it helps to explain what’s going on.

I recently got back into Guild Wars 2 after a year break. I explained to a friend how fun the WvW is and he went out and picked up Hot and PoF. We found out tonight that the server I am on is full, therefore he’s unable to transfer.

I’m the guild leader and can’t just transfer off my server, all we want to do is WvW together, did he just waste $50?

I’m on Stormbluff Isle and he’s on Eredon Terrace.

Since the expansion released, I’ve spent most of my time in EoTM on my warrior. Meh. I’m probably going to level my Mesmer’s elite specialization Chronomancer next.

While farming EoTM, I’d like to get practice in on any new builds I might play in WvW.

What builds are you having success with so far for roaming, or large scale GvG fights?
