Well, I downloaded the client and got the game installed. I logged in. Within 10 seconds, the game would become a black screen and then would come back 3 seconds later or go back to my desktop with the GW2 cursor still being there. Then the game would come back up. So, it looks like it’s still a huge clusterkitten but at least I have my drivers back.

Thanks for this. I looked all of them over and followed the steps from the first one. I was able to delete the drivers and re-install them. Now I’m downloading GW2 again along with some other games, so we will see if this helped my issues. I know everyone was having problems with even the new drivers, so I guess we will see.

Uninstall via control panel does the job most of the time. Important is really
to restart after the uninstall before trying to install the older drivers.

Ok, so I went to go uninstall my drivers and everything Nvidia related and ran into an error message:

“There was a problem starting C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2\InstallerCore\NVI2.DLL

The specified module could not be found."

I’ve tried downloading the driver with both IE (I know it sucks) and Google Chrome. Both times, the files are downloaded, the installer goes through the process of checking my system for compatibility, asks which install want, express or custom, and then proceeds to install the driver. However, about 4% into the download, my screen goes black, then it reappears and everything is about 200% bigger than before the download. The install fails, citing no particular reason, it just says that it failed, and then my screen goes black again and my screen resumes it’s normal size. It’s super weird. I may take a video and try to post it.

First .. so your download works, but don’t let the file be executed automatically
but save it, so you can retry the installation without redownloading the file.

Second .. first unistall your current driver, then reboot .. and then try installing
the older drivers.

Third .. use custom install and only install the drivers and needed stuff and leave
out every other useless NVidia crap.

I’ve got the files saved under “My Downloads”, so they will be there without having to re-download. Do I uninstall via the Control Panel or is there a better way? I’ll go ahead of give the custom install a try and see what happens.

Which install type do you choose? Express or Custom?

I go with Express, just for the sake of convenience and my ignorance.

I’m a returning GW2 player, re-downloaded the client and patched the game. Started playing. Immediately ran into crashes where a black screen would replace the game, but the cursor would stay the same and I could hear the music in the background. I would start task manager to close out GW2. I read Google posts and forum posts about how to fix the situation of constant crashes. Turns out my graphics card drivers are out-of-date (335.23). So I download and install the newest drivers for my Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M (358.50). Turns out, everyone and their mom is having problems, even with the new drivers. So I downgrade back to my old drivers and try to install the 353.xx driver instead, which is supposed to fix my original problem. It won’t download. I try to troubleshoot the problem, based off of forum posts and what seems to work for everyone else. None of it works for me and now I can’t even re-download the newest drivers. I can’t download any drivers. Nothing will work. I’m just trying to play this game. I’m also not the most computer-literate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been scouring the internet for a solution and have yet to find one. My original problem has spawned a host of new problems.

I’m having the same issue of not being able to buy gems in the store. Is the problem an all-encompassing problem for everyone or is it different for each person?
