Wow, you guys are hilarious. If this was any other game all you’d get for Halloween was an npc giving out pumpkins… ANET have gone WAY beyond the call of duty for this event, giving us more jumping puzzles and new maps, 2 new types of pvp games, and a new dungeon … FOR FREE. Not to mention the update that’s coming in November.
If you’re so mad and think you’re hard done to for this FREE and original content, I suggest you leave … the community will gladly be rid of you. All I see is cry cry cry, get a life for god’s sake
not for free:
2 million cpopies sold
a heavily pushed gem shopin a game 2 months old… we paid for it.
And you can’t argue that they could decide not to do anything at all. Since they can’t: they have to keep their playerbase amused with events, it’s about all they have going that’s possibly new.
They are forced to do this to keep their players interested, and yes: we already paid for it.
note: the community might be glad to be rid of us, the company itself would not be. And if the funding slows down, the development will slow down.
Once the money gets tight, I would like to see how much Anet still gives ‘for free’.
A gem shop that you can buy items from with in-game gold? Oh no…someone get the credit card out!
It’s an MMO with no monthly fee… at the same price as the latest ‘A-list’ games that are single player RPG’s (who do not provide holiday content like this, and which can be ‘completed’ in less time).
You’re not seriously trying to argue that your £40 should provide you with endless updates for years and years to come?

You guys haven’t been putting old driver files in your folders to unlock the overclock limit have you?
Uninstall your old drivers, use driver sweeper (now called driver fusion) to wipe all traces of your old files, and re-install the latest ones.
From my own experience, it’s caused by using old versions of files to increase the msi afterburner cap. Either that or you’ve not formatted in a while and have just been installing drivers on top of each other.
Can someone else confirm if this work and also if this is allowed according to Anet’s TOS?
I would like to gain a few more fps here and there in lare fights but not going to get my account banned because of it.
AFAIK there is no anti-cheat system implemented in GW2, so they’d have no way of knowing anyway?

You might want to download a little program called GPU-Z and check your clock speeds / bus interface are actually set to max when in game.
I know there is a pretty widespread issue with ATI cards not playing well with hardware acceleration from browsers, which means if you have google chrome/firefox/IE open in the background, your clocks never ramp up to full, and hence you get shocking FPS for what is a decent system.
First thing to do is check your bus interface. As you can see in the picture below, it says PCI-E 2.0 x16 (this is the maximum your computer can handle) @ x16 2.0 (this is what the computer is currently running at). I noticed yesterday that mine was at x8 2.0, just because I’d put the graphics card in the bottom slot of the motherboard instead of the top, and my FPS went from 38 in LA to locked at 60 (I’m on a HD5850).
The next thing to do is check your clocks actually are ramping up to full. My card is slightly overclocked but again, in the picture below, when you are IN GAME these 2 rows of clock speeds should match up. If the GPU Clock is any lower than the Default Clock, then they aren’t at full speed, and I’d disable Hardware Acceleration on your browser, reboot and check again.
Another issue I’ve come across is people setting the max fps in game to 60, and then having vsync on. I personally have set the FPS to unlimited, and then turning vsync on, so that only 1 thing is ‘controlling’ the frame rate. Make sure everything in your graphics control center is set to default, or application controlled.
If you do decide to download GPU-Z, there’s also a sensors tab on the program that lets you see your GPU load. Unless you are capping out at 60fps (or whatever refresh rate your monitor is), this should always be 100%, otherwise you are being limited by your CPU and that’s a whole other ball game. I also noticed some people saying they get better fps when they set ‘Window fullscreen’ mode, instead of fullscreen, so that’s also something to try.
I hope this helped a few people, as these 2 issues alone are what caused me to go from 30fps to rock solid 60 on a card that is starting to show a little age.
