Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

As with many others have expressed I’m a little disappointed with how long it takes to fully unlock the elite specialization via hero points.

It seems super counter productive to give us these new class specializations only after we have played through all the PvE content. I don’t feel it is entitled or an unreasonable statement when I say I would be having a lot more fun right now if I were playing the elite specialization, while at the same time enjoying the new story.

This is expansion is the single most restrictive content you have ever put in the game and it does the game as a whole a huge disservice.

I’m inclined to agree with this assessment. Elite Specs are a huge part of the marketing of this expansion, yet are far too difficult to actually fully unlock. I also worry that this might set the bar for how future elite specializations are all going to have to be.

400 HP is just far too much for an entire specialization.

Advice needed - ranged Condi/healer builds

Engineer has a kit that offers both condition damage and heals. I should forewarn you, though, that not building towards damage will make your progression a lot slower unfortunately.

Hero Points

I’m okay with the grind, personally. However, I don’t like that many of the hero points are unobtainable without a group. Not sure how arenanet will respond once the hype dies down, and it becomes hard to find people to do objectives.

Which races would you like to see playable in the future?

I’d like to see Krait, Tengu, Quaggan, or Skritt as a playable race in a future expansion.

Guardian ranged weapon suggestion

I’d really like to see a shortbow, or longbow for Guardians. They’re lacking a ranged method of applying conditions and I believe one of those two weapons would be great for it. You could add some ghostly fire particles to one of the skills and call it a day.

Better rewards for greater efforts.

I believe Arenanet wants it to be easy to get the maximum reward so that players don’t feel the need to compete with each other over it.

However, I do agree that more difficult/longer Dynamic Events should reap more rewards than easier/quicker ones. Albeit you can’t forget that you DO get xp and drops from killing the mobs.

Across cultural gear isn’t possible, as cultural pieces simply do not exist – there are no models made for them – for the other races.

That said, you mean stuff like, transmuting a light hood’s skin onto a heavy helmet? Very much want.

Very untrue about the races thing. In the beta weekends you could check out other race’s cultural gear.

In-game marriage ? is it possible ?

As much as I know I shouldn’t bring it up, is there a reason “same-sex” marriages wouldn’t be allowed? The Sylvari have no real definition of gender within their culture and that would just seem really weird to me. Besides, the way you tacked it on at the end of your post seems more like a last-minute addon, rather than a center part of your argument for marriages.

Overall, I do think the idea of marriage in a game like this could cause more trouble than it’s worth. So I’d have to say that I am against the idea of it being implemented ingame.

Why I find the game uninteresting - From a longtime Guild Wars 1 player

Hey guys. I’d like to say that I bought and have played Guild Wars on it’s release day up until Guild Wars 2’s launch. It was easily one of my favorite games of all time. However, GW2 feels and plays like a completely different game. There are numerous pros and cons to this. But we need to understand that GW2 would have not been successful with using the archaic mechanics present in the original. Just take a look at the latest big named MMOs who borrowed 100% of its design philosophy from major MMOs. While I’m unsure how well GW2 will do in the future, I do believe they’re making a major step forward in the industry. But for the sake of it, these are my pros and cons:

Pros:
-Dynamic Events
-The Questing (I like this because if gives you MORE options than simply “kill x of y”.)
-The Story and Lore
-Like the original, the leveling isn’t tedious. You grind for other things besides levels.

Cons:
-Lack of utility spells
-No dual class specs. I seriously miss this the most.
-Balance seems a little shady right now, albeit this should be fixed over years.
-Lack of specialized builds in classes. Wheres my support/bardish thief?

Overall I do think a lot of the major design choices are a step forward in the right direction.

Humans exist outside of Tyria. Albeit enslaved by a necromancer, Elona is a human-populated continent. Cantha as well.
