Nice catch! Yes, there is a new piece that goes with the rebuilding. I wonder if it’s the only one?

This piece is actually quite a bit longer than you heard in the stream, and it changes right around the point where it cut out. Shame, really, because I think it gets more interesting from there. Sorry for the teaser. I can’t discuss what our plans for releasing music are just yet, but eventually you’ll be able to hear the whole thing.
YEEEEEEEEESSSSS, I was so hoping you would be doing the music!
Thank you so much for the music you’ve made so far, you are a fantastic composer.
But is Leif Chapelle still around?
Yes, Leif is still here and also working on music in addition to his design duties.

HoT locations should get own music themes

Hi gang. Glad you’re all already excited for some new music. There will be plenty of new music for HoT, you can count on it. I’m working on some right now! There was a little taste of it in the PAX South announcement as well, though not all of it made it through the live stream.
Just to clarify here, the piece that plays in Glint’s Lair is indeed a new version of the original Guild Wars piece “Crystal Oasis”. It’s not really a remix, more of a “reimagining”. It’s mostly the same, but with a couple small changes to the orchestration/arrangement, and a slightly longer intro. Also, the orchestra is a live recording with a few light synth elements mixed in, whereas the original version is completely made up of virtual instruments.
The suggestion to redo it was designer and occasional composer Leif Chappelle’s. He thought it would tie in nicely to the area where Glint’s Lair was in the original Guild Wars, and I agreed with him. I’m glad people are making the connection.
We did indeed update the Halloween music in our last recording sessions, but only two of the pieces. We released the second on today on Soundcloud:

I thought about redoing the Clocktower, but since a lot of it is just sound effects stuff, and the timing is very specific to the length of the puzzle, I figured it was easier to leave it as is, at least for now.
I’ve uploaded a new version of this that includes all the verses. Sorry for the wait, but doing it today seems appropriate. Enjoy!

Thank you, Sebalon. There will be more new music in the future, so keep your ears open.
Hey Maclaine, in general I like the songs of Guild Wars 2, however I don’t feel as excited as in other games I’ve ever played (Lineage II), Miss Joy, that could be embedded in modern history? Because we must remember that the climate is not the best …
Unfortunately, I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. Can you rephrase it at all?
Zaxares: That piece was uploaded on Soundcloud as part of an exclusive interview with Gamespot.

I think it’s been long enough that I can upload it to the main ArenaNet Soundcloud page. I’ll ask if that’s possible and update the page accordingly.
Hi, manimsmart. So, as it turns out, that piece is not included in the soundtrack compilation sold by Direct Song. That’s something we have no control over, unfortunately.
It’s part of a small collection of music that we categorized as “cinematic”. The idea was that, during the limited cinematics where characters talk with each other (like in the video you linked), there would be a selection of pieces that designers could choose to loop beneath the dialogue in order to set the mood. Not every designer took advantage of them, and since we no longer do limited cinematics in any of the content post-launch, they don’t get heard much.
I’m not sure what our options are as far as posting that stuff on Soundcloud, but I will look into it. Please understand that I make no guarantees that we’ll be able to release it.

Hi Cerbeius,
First off, thanks for listening to Maklain’s “singing” so closely.
You’ve made me realize that I made a mistake in putting together the file that I uploaded to Soundcloud. In the original Halloween event in 2012, the third verse of Maklain had two different versions. The first had the following line:
“After so many years, he might finally appear…”
It played for the first few days of the event. Then, when the Mad King escaped from his realm and destroyed the fountain in Lion’s Arch, the line changed to this:
“After so many years, he’s finally appeared…”
But, taking after my minstrel counterpart, when I put together the file to upload to Soundcloud, I made a mistake and included the two versions of the third verse and left out the second verse. Whoops! I’ll fix this very soon and upload the proper version. I’ll announce it in this thread when I do.
Thanks again for pointing it out!
