This probably sounds petty but I can assure you it is of utmost importance.
The gliding animation for charr looks awful. Please place move their arms so that they face behind them like humans instead of pushing forward. The current animation is incredibly awkward looking and I believe it would look much better if charr held the same pose as humans.
I’ve attached pics of my human and charrs gliding for comparison
This pretty much mirrors my experience; the revenant needs a lot of work.
The best damage I could put out was with the sword auto-attack and vengeful hammers, and that was pretty pitiful compared to most classes, in addition to be being boring. My rotation has pretty much been Vengeful Hammers → Auto until out of energy → Swap to Shiro → Impossible Odds → Auto until out of energy → Swap to Jalis etc.
In pvp I was using impossible odds to “quick-cast” hammer skills because that’s the only way I can get them to hit something, and even then it’s incredibly easy to dodge. I tried berserker builds (damage too low) soldier/knight/cele tanky builds (no protection really hurts this) condi builds (this one is actually really tricky and I’m still learning new stuff with Mallyx stance, but I still feel I can’t apply enough conditions without copying the ones someone else has placed on me) and full on healing/support builds (which worked OK, but I feel like I would have been a greater asset to my team if I had access to some good cc and mitigation in addition to raw output.)
The weapons need to be redesigned for better synergy with each other and we need to fill empty niches. We need a tanky melee weapon set and a condi ranged weapon set, and they need to be adaptable to other roles (much like how the guardian’s mace provides good healing and protection or excellent dps depending on how you build yourself). We need higher base damage and better scaling ratios. We need a ranged weapon that doesn’t take a fortnight to pull off a simple cc (seriously, if you start casting as soon as an enemy starts his attack with the intent to interrupt it, your cc won’t kick in until after it’s needed). We need evade/invulnerability on the sword #3. We need the hammer #3 to not launch your character into the AoE that you went ranged to avoid (the mist thing looks great, just make it purely aesthetic or give us invuln).
Also, why do regular attacks cost energy? I’d say Mallyx is the best example of what the stances should be since it requires you to use all of your skills, but, because of that, I’m almost always energy starved. It should be cooldowns on the left of my bars and energy on the right with the utilities designed to be used more often.
This post turned out more rambly than it should have been but I really want the revenant to be awesome. Arenanet’s class design for Guild Wars 2 has been awesome (purple butterflies!) but they seem to have a hard time getting those great ideas into balanced gameplay (see everything wrong with the necromancer). I’m hoping with all of the attention the revenant is getting we’ll see some significant changes. Otherwise I suppose I’ll be playing my new chronomancer.
I completely agree with the blast finisher on sand squall. I mean out of all the off hand weapons you would think warhorn would get a blast finisher and yet there are none? It just seems appropriate to put it on sand squall. A whirl finisher would also be cool like on the air skill cyclone. That way over all you are looking at a water field, a fire field, a blast finisher and a whirl finisher all in a different attunement each.
Especially since every other offhand has at least one blast finisher (focus has two). Honestly I’d like to see the fire #4 skill (which currently gives might and shares boons) onto a utility. It seems too niche for a primary skill, even for a weapon dedicated mostly to support. It’d be nice to have a blast finisher in its place, in addition to the earth #4.
Just as an example of that sort of skill:
Nova
Unleash a brilliant burst of flames in a 240 unit radius around yourself (same radius as Frozen Burst), damaging foes and granting allies fury/might/retaliation/something. Acts as a blast finisher
Or just flat out swap Heat Sync and Feel the Burn!, making the latter a blast finisher and changing their names to something more fitting.
Edit:
Improve character model fluidity while channeling an overcharge. They all seem very cartoonish or cheesy right now.
Also, this. Make some sort of continuous animation, similar to how Meteor Storm works. One stiff animation looks incredibly awkward. Also on the topic of meteor storm, make the animation used by norn/human/sylvari males closer to the animations used by asura and norn/human/sylvari females with the arm twirling thing. The current animation looks like we’re summon meteors through interpretive dance inspired by pulling taffy.

It doesn’t help that the voice actors sound incredibly bored when they read off the shouts.
It would be better if they spoke in a rising intonation for the first part of the shout and then said the second part with some impact. This applies to all classes that use shouts, especially the Reaper who is currently feeling very neglected and could really use a hug.
I figure it would make a lot more sense to make these “shouts” into meditations. The tempest seems to have a focus on concentration of power, and that’s what meditations are all about.
I honestly can’t think of any better names for the shouts, the entire idea seems forced and unwieldy, and the abilities themselves don’t really seem to fit in any builds (with the notable exception of the AoE stunbreaker).
I’d say the order of whispers helmet would look nice.
Title says it all, I’d like to see a projected price for hitting 80 with just crafting
I would like to note, my ele will be male.
Got both of them sitting at 20 now, and can’t decide which to level, which one do you prefer?
Anybody else experience this?
I can’t decide what race I want my ele to be! I have a 61 charr ele that I enjoy alot but I also really like the asura and human animations. In YOUR opinion, which do you prefer, and why.
I’d also like to see some male charrs, humans, and asuras in light armor,
