I think you might have more fun with games if you play a mode because you enjoy the gameplay, not because you are depositing hours into some kind of reward 401(k) plan. It’s supposed to be fun, not a prize contract.

But, this is how the game is made… to put hundreds of hours into acquiring a reward.

I’m have fun, and even happier that there are multiple ways to get the gear in different game modes now.

I just got myself caught up in (what I think is) a crumby situation.

You’ll need at least 7650 tickets to make a full set of Legendary Armor on WvW (That if you don’t care about the T3 Triumphant Skins, which are another 2700 tickets)…

I hope this is enough to make you give up and finish your backpiece.

1575 tickets is a big chunk toward the 7650. I can get a backpiece in Fractals, but I am not going to do raids to get the armor.

Eventually I’ll end up with all of it, I suppose

You spent your tickets on available rewards at the time. There’s no reason you should get the refund because a new carrot was added.

Let me put this in perspective for you….

When tickets were first given as tournament rewards, many of us spent them at the vendor for items we liked. Those that didn’t like any of the items held on to the currency, waiting to see if anything else came down the pipe that they felt was worth spending the tickets on.

What you’re doing would be exactly the same as if those that bought the initial rewards felt that they were entitled to get a refund merely because some new reward was being offered.

Your position is silly at best. Stop it.

You’re forgetting the time difference between the seasons and now, and between the back piece and the legendary armor.

Your attempt to put it in perspective is silly. Stop it.

I had a slightly less kick in the teeth, in which I bought the exotic t2 sets, only for them to release legendary armour and make it so you needed the ascended, not exotic, for the precursor.

I heard someone (you?) mention that on Redditt, I think. Yea, this whole thing was pretty badly planned. I don’t think they in any way meant to screw us over, but there should be some consideration.

That said, the support team did mention they were looking at ways to remedy the issue (as it was more than just you and I who got the screw job, apparently).

Raiders keep complaining how WvW legendaries are too easy to get but they don’t realize that both the WvW back piece and armors require the same time gated resource. The PVE legendary back piece (fractals) and armor can be work on at the same time.

So true. I saved the season tickets for so long, I don’t know what possessed me to buy any of the backpack precursors before I could get everything. I guess just caught up in the excitement..

I understand your story, but I do not agree with you. You should not be refunded just because you changed your mind. I mean that is essentially what you are doing here. It is like eating half a pie or cake and trying to return it cause you simply do not want it/like it anymore.

I’m not asking for a refund because I changed my mind about anything.

Sorry if you misunderstood. I would have never considered making the backpiece if there was a chance of using them in the future, but we were told that there wouldn’t be legendary armor coming to WvW.

Just because you want the legendary armorpieces even more now is no good enough reason for a refund

And just remember that you can farm tickets more than twice as fast now!

So just keep on playing the gamemode you enjoy and soon you will be able to buy the armorpieces too

I went for the backpiece because there was nothing else for me to spend them on, and we were told there wouldn’t be ways to get legendary armor outside of Raids. Now, I am going to let the parts rot because every ticket I get will go toward legendary armor.

You are right with the strategy, I will keep playing and getting more tickets.. but those tickets I did use were real time that I can’t get back in my life.

Sucks to hear – I am sure a lot of people are in a similar situation. However – how did you come up with 12 weeks for 875 tickets? in 3 weeks you can get 1100?

I started going for 175/week, but I don’t have that many minutes in a week for another full time job while I’m busy being a single parent and company owner. 100/week seemed like a fairly achievable goal.

Also, I had tickets from the season at the start.

Karma being provided as a packaged reward in PoF means that non of the Karma reward food, guild boosters, etc. will add to karma rewards. On pre-PoF rewards, heart karma is boosted upon “opening” the heart.

I don’t know if this is a bug as much as it bugs me…

When in the classic control mode and autorunning, I press the left-mouse button and rotate around to watch my character running toward me. This works great.

If I do the same thing with the mount, it will shortly do a 180 degree turn.

Free Camera is turned on.

When in action camera mode, if I use A and D to move “forward” and view from the side, the raptor doesn’t jump like it does when using “W”

(When on foot, actions are the same in every direction when in action camera mode)

First, thanks for an awesome game. I’ve invested a good 9300+ hours of my life playing , have met wonderful people and received excellent support for previous issues. It is with this, I calmly present my story and request for your consideration.

Let me give you my backstory..

The legendary backpiece for PvP seemed like a great way to get into PvP, but I found myself hitting the wall and realizing I’d have to spend countless hours on a game mode I don’t like, so I stopped playing PvP altogether and decided to wait on another mode to the the back piece.

The legendary backpiece in Fractals looked good, but I just wasn’t focused enough to go through the process, at the time. (Now, I have a group and we are starting the process to get this one.. I’ve never had anything back to say about this method of back piece acquisition)

When Legendary Armor was released and put behind raids, I was extremely disappointed – as I don’t find their structure appealing. Hearing that there would be no upcoming alternative methods to acquire Legendary Armor put a real spike in my enthusiasm.

So, when the Warbringer came out, and in a game mode I’ve really found my place in, I was VERY EXCITED! I had tickets saved from the past seasons, and I was ready to go. Over the weeks, I found the grind to 175 tickets very painful, but my spreadsheet showed me a light at the end of the tunnel. Even when I burned out to realize I should stop at 100 tickets a week, it was ok. THEN, I bought the 3rd tier of backpiece, happily expecting to see that all I had to do for the next one was have a commander tag (which I do)… and I learned it was 875 MORE tickets! This backpiece is already the biggest time suck of the 3, so when I realized it was 12 more weeks instead of 4 for me to complete, I hit the brakes.

What my big mistake was — I put all my tickets into buying each piece, as I had them. So, all my tickets are used, on something I decided that I’d just suck it up and finish at some point in the future.

Now, the big reveal – that I can use tickets to get the WvW-specific ascended armor pieces to make LEGENDARY ARMOR!

So, what I wanted in the first place, the Legendary Armor, which I thought I would just have to give up on, is available.

Except, because there was every indication we would not see this in WvW, I felt safe to put my tickets into that backpiece.

Now I feel royalled ripped off, punched right in the gut. It has been pain after pain, and a final kick in the teeth.

I feel that because of this, I respectfully deserve to have the tickets I used on the Warbringer returned. I am happy to destroy all of the components and precursor backpieces and suck up whatever non-ticket loss I incur with this process.

Please let me know what I can do to assit in this process.

I calculated that total amount I’ve spent, in tickets, on the backpiece so far, is 1575.

Recruit’s Wings of War – 375 tickets
Soldier’s Wings of War – 525 tickets
General’s Wings of War – 700 tickets

I created the following ingredients:
Mystic Essence of Strategy
Mystic Essence of Animosity
Mystic Essence of Carnage

Fortunately for me, I didn’t make the Gift of Conquering :P

I would like the 1525 tickets I dumped into Warbringer after we were told that there would be no legendary armor available in WvW. What else to spend the tickets on then if I already have enough ascended armor?

I love the change, but if I knew this was coming no way I would have spent the tickets.

Thanks for an awesome game. I’m having a great time and very excited to put some more money in for the expansion… but.. I’ve faced an issue with the new WvW ticket system and wish to request an additional review of my support ticket. (This was suggested by one of the support personnel who I communicated with on this ticket).

Seriously understand:

1.) WvW tickets, just like very other reward in every MMO, isn’t meant to improve anything. It’s a carrot on a stick that’s meant to lure people toward a certain part of the game.

2.) In light of point 1, making WvW rewards realistically attainable in a small timeframe makes them pointless. The point of WvW tickets isn’t so you can get a new backpiece and a set of ascended armour – the point of wvw tickets is so 1000 more people play WvW in hopes that they can. Making WvW rewards more attainable defeats the purpose of having tickets in the first place – ascended armour is incredibly easy to get if you do fractals, which even casual WvWers will find easy. Even the fractal legendary backpiece is easier to obtain than the WvW one.

3.) Anet are not stupid. People much smarter than you work for Anet and have designed the system. They have a purpose and have designed their game to achieve this purpose. IF their ideas don’t go to plan, they may change the system, but it won’t be because you started a thread on WvW forums, it’ll be because instead of 1000, only 20 more people are playing WvW.

Edit: Just in case people actually read this post. The point is WvW rewards had a different purpose altogether than giving WvWers a chance at ascended armour and a legendary backpiece. Complaining about rewards, pips and #pipstress is pointless, because that wasn’t the reason WvW rewards were implemented (if that were the case, we’d see WvW rewards in game 3 years ago!)

Edit Edit: Just read OP’s post. Outnumbered is the way to go: Pro tip – Don’t cap home camp, just kill a scout and go back to afk. If someone caps the camp, your timer resets, if they don’t the scout will respawn in time for you to reset your timer!

#2.. I don’t know, I’ve been in this industry for 36 years, not sure if these millennials know more about it than me .

If you’re going to nerf O/N, please buff the other modes. You need O/N to get the legendary backpiece in a resonable time – it takes longer than any of the other legendary backpieces.

I would much rather spend the 17 hours/week fighting than escorting Dolyaks. If you can do that, I don’t mind, but if you just make it into a 35 hour/week process then :P

Can we get the backpiece before the expansion comes out without giving up our real world jobs?
