Some folks may find this a bit unfair and quite honestly, stupid. I’ll go ahead and say that it probably is and before you think, we’ll if its stupid, why suggest such a thing? Well, as it stands – there is a problem with the “zerg” that plays in several zones that prevent players from continuing on their personal story – this is fundamentally wrong.
So if you’ve read this far, here is a suggestion that would make “zerging” in certain abused zones, rather irritating. Granted, the overflow is to prevent a zone from being too full, but I believe certain zones need a flag attached to them to prevent an abusive cycle of failing events for Champions.
Give any Champion in these abused zones the ability to “mass” charm players. What does the charm do? Quite simply, if there is a group of 25+ players and the Champion checks for the number of players and it exceeds a certain threshold, half of everyone there begins to attack their fellow player. These charmed players will hit exceedingly harder than normal – wiping half the “zerg”.
The point of all this? To keep players from abusing a system that wasn’t meant to be abused, to distribute players from causing an overflow for a specific zone, and to keep the game enjoyable for the rest of the population that plays it that doesn’t abuse these mechanics.
Is this harsh? Maybe.
Why suggest this? I’m not affected by the champion farming, but I have noticed players not able to enjoy the Zhaitan fight (which is fun, despite criticism that states otherwise), who are trying to enjoy certain zones, and who see the “zerg” as an unhealthy game mechanic that needs culling.
