Still an issue.
Hello forums/GW2 team.
I’ve had issues as of late with targeting and movement in game. I play at 6008×1080 resolution with 3 27" monitors. The game plays very smoothly and is absolutely wonderfull to take in like this. However, I’ve noticed that moving my mouse cursor somewhat near something, 6 to 8 inches away even, will highlight them and a click will target them. I asked in map chat a few times and it seems the general consensus is I’m experiencing a UI bug and this is not working as intended.
I took a few screenshots hoping to illustrate what I’m probably doing a terrible job of explaining in this post. *Now noticing that the game hides the mouse cursor for screenshots -.- *
My video card drivers and accompanying software are latest full release. If there’s anything I’m forgetting to better help my issue be resolved, please let me know!
Bump
You might be better off with a good solid state drive over a video card. What are your others specs?
The i5 4670K will perform the same for gaming as the i7 it’s not worth the extra $100, 16 GB of memory for gaming is 8GB of wasted money and you will see no differance with the 2133 memory over 1600MHz.
Bad choice going SLI I would recomend a single 780 it’s more card than most people need.
1) I wouldn’t recommend getting haswell. Look at performance gain of haswell vs ivy bridge per dollar. You can put that money in better places for a gaming rig like the video card.
2) Get a reference GTX 780 rather than superclocked/signature/whatever. If you plan to liquid cool your rig, it’ll be cheaper and easier to get backplates and just overclock it yourself. The only exception to this rule would be EVGA Classifieds or MSI Lightnings if you have the cash. And yes, 780 over Titan unless you plan to use several monitors in SLI or play in 3D
3) 2133 MHz ***IS*** much better and noticeable than 1600 MHz when you have it set up right, and does help with some games in their performance. Especially if you have a solid amount of RAM to put them onto a ramdisk. Ever played GW2 straight from your RAM? It loads and plays like a dream.
4) 16GB vs 8GB is up to you… do you do lots of multitasking? Plan to use a ramdisk?
If you’re like me and you want to play the latest games at high resolutions like 5760×1080 in 3D surround or 1920×1080 at 120Hz with seamless fps, heed my words. SLI is worth it.
Bump. Feedback would be nice.
Bump for justice.
When you say drivers are up to date, how so? Did the drivers come from Windows Update, pre-installed, OEM’s site, or AMD?
Regardless, I don’t believe a driver alone would cause that strange bug; might just recommend a driver reinstall.
Drivers can cause issues ranging from artifacts all the way to melting the card itself.
I’ve built quite a few AMD builds for friends and I’ve noticed that sometimes upgrading the video cards may require you to completely uninstall catalyst software and video card drivers, then re-install the latest ones. Have you tried this yet?
I would still like to see some feedback on this issue.
I’m guessing this is a hardware/technical issue since it was moved?
Hello forums and GW2 team.
I’m still hoping to hear that this bug will be looked into!
Shameless bump.
Hey Grimwolf. I have a thread that is very similar to the issue you’re describing here. It’s under “Troubling UI bug: ‘Target box’ Stretching”. Hopefully they can figure out what the issue is since we’re using totally different hardware! I’m not having the view/camera off-center issue you are though.
Even though I may be one in a thousand experiencing this issue, it makes it tough for me to enjoy playing the game. I would greatly appreciate any kind of feedback or tips.
I’d wager that you all play from someplace close to one another that utilizes the same backbone or node to connect. I’ve see funky things like this come up all too often in several other games. Have you called your ISPs to see if they’re experiencing issues through the network? How about traceroute in command prompt?
I’d also like to add that, if this can be fixed somehow, it will increase the happiness factor while playing this game by 100%.

I use a Gamecom 780 headset. Like I said earlier though, it also happened while using my speakers instead of my headset one night.
Oh, Chaos… I just saw this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Camera-Related-Issues-Compilation-and-Lengthy-Anaylsis/first
It includes your suggestion, so we should keep this one going instead in my opinion.
This is a very awesome thread with great ideas.
I agree! There were a few instances where you get to zoom out further for better awareness of your surroundings (boss fights) and I loved it that way.

You should save the underhanded insults and self-righteous arrogance of comparing your “beliefs” with my or anyone else’s beliefs…
…and you believe in a process that happened billions of years ago and is supposedly happening now, but we can’t see it!
Religious AND hypocritical. Who would’ve thought?Just trying to compete with you in your game, buddy. You practically invented it. =)
Where did I claim any game? Having reading comprehension issues?

So you’re suggesting/pleading they change the game for the few who are overly-sensitive, including yourself? You seemed to be educated enough to not make such a big deal out of something so minuscule in a game judging from your post. All walks of life play this game, and you don’t see other religions posting about the ability to kill cows, or telling ArenaNet to change the fact that NPC’s say things like, “Gods be with you”. It’s the same thing as those that protest to have the phrase “under god” removed from the pledge of allegiance. Fantasy games are not about accommodating your religion. It’s fantasy.
My sound issue came up in Claw of Jormag and a medium keep siege in WvW as well!
thank you for proving my point trae, this is purely public opinion, and the opinion of people can easily be swayed when they are down in the dirt andkitten off because of losing, everyone will say everything in an attempt to gain credibility.
in the end, it is just as it seems.. all of the allegation of cheating and exploiting over the years, and yet no bannings. all just heresay and attempts to discredit people who play the same games, but won, and the only venue they feel they can win, is the one where they feel they have nothing to lose as a random person attacking a group of people identified by a name.
even if that one person is shown to have been nothing but a bold faced liar, he just disappears into nothing and forgotten, but people still remember the name of the group that was the target, which is why it still follows around to this day with the same people from the same previous games, saying the same old things that they still haven’t gotten off their chest from years ago.
Anet is the final judges, and i’m sure they won’t hesitate to ban people who they feel are harmful to their game and community, but for some reason i have a feeling that they don’t feel someone who runs a guild (who hasn’t broken any rules mind you), that is build around running a large organization (which is complained about all the time.. of course numbers win this game of guildwars 2, and we all know it from seeing the top brackets, you cant win without population to start), is going to be banned… for doing just that, running a large organization with the intent to win.
TL;DR is: Everyone that’s ever hated on Ruin Gaming in all the other games is just hating because they lose to them and they have no real reason other than that.
This is the delusional “drank the kool-aid” cult follower I was talking about folks. This guy actually FULLY BELIEVES that his guild and guild leader do nothing to irk other players and their complaints are unsubstantiated. Nevermind the screenshots! Nevermind all the players coming here to talk about the underhanded things your guild does! Nevermind the players from OTHER games saying “yeah, those guys made the last game I played rot from within”!
I played WoW for several years and came across “Ruin Gaming” in the second expansion on the US Kil’Jaeden Server. They have a terrible reputation for doing obnoxious things that deteriorate the gameplay for others in all aspects of things, be it in-game or other social mediums. Their players are cult-like and defend every action of their community leader (Arkhaos/Archaos whatever) with nonsense or terrible logic every time their name pops up in a negative fashion. They have been known to do the following:
- Planting ‘spies’ into other guilds that would compete with them in any way in hopes to destroy them from within.
- Breaking the game by blobbing objectives with 2 to 3 times the amount of a considerable mass of players.
- Trashing forums with trolling or otherwise destructive posting.
- Targeted reporting (or down-rating like in the reddit post mentioned above) from their players ordered from higher up in the community to deter anyone that puts the limelight on their actions.
- Doing absolutely anything they can to be “the top pvp guild in X”, whether those things are acceptable by the game developers/community of the game or not.
I’m very glad to see that their antics are being made public here already and I hope that the ArenaNet team takes note of it. I know from personal experience that they don’t plan to stop this type of thing any time soon and someone will need to step in.
heresay is not truth.
None of this is “heresay”. This is personal experience of many. Including myself.

This issue has come up for me on several occasions as well. It has happened on my Gamecom 780 headset (USB) and my 5.1 surround sound speakers. I have up-to-date drivers and play on an ASUS P8P67 Pro motherboard.
