I am writing this in the hopes it will draw attention to US guilds. Far Shiverpeaks is in dire need of night time assistance. Over the past few weeks, our scores have been dwindling as FR and DE servers muster their night time crews; all the while our server remains empty overnight. During primetime we definately hold our own, unfortunately it isn’t enough to mitigate the damage being done overnight. We have held our 2nd place title for quite some time but alas, that time appears to be over. According to sites tracking scores, we are slotted to move down to 4th place while Arborstone takes our current rank. I believe with the help of western guilds, we could reclaim our place and then some. It is quite obvious night capping is here to stay, and no server without a night presence will exist in the top two brackets. It’s a shame to see the talent of our primetime players washed to the wayside because of this. Two alliances exist which I am sure would be happy to take your guilds in if given the oppertunity. One of them you might have a rough time talking to as most of them speak russian =)… Again, we at Far Shiverpeaks ask that you help bring us back up to where we once were and beyond.
NOTE: I am writing this by myself and do not speak for anyone else on the server, but I am sure many would agree with me.
Hey, look American guilds! Far Shiverpeaks has been mentioned in the forums! You should transfer over here and help us fight the good fight at night; you could be part of one of the servers mentioned in the forums!
As the title says, that’s what I have heard. So, if I may ask, why is it that these four bots in the Far Shiverpeaks server have been here for the last three weeks? They are named Sharriett, Remyl, Marief, andWendelljj. They are ALWAYS right outside the gate at Penitent Waypoint, and have literally been reported hundreds of times. The “Anti-Botting” code is irrelevant because after 30 minutes, they receive loot again. If botting is so important, why has nothing been done? Where are the GM’s? I could see if a bot was banned, and another was recreated, but these 4 are the SAME toons that have been here the whole time! I would like an ANet response please.
Kirn would be one of the GF commanders I was referring to in my previous post. I am active duty military, and have been for 10 years. This guild is the closest thing I’ve seen to a military unit in a game yet. Hats off to the GF commanders; and moreso to the troops they lead.
EDIT: In most servers, your comment about the PuG’s being a majority of the force would be true. But, let’s be honest. Whatever BL you choose to be on is comprised of about 70% GF at the time. We find ourselves saying “Nice, GF just showed up to help us defend this tower” moreso than “Nice, here comes a GF commander with a PuG to help us defend this tower”.

Though the commander perk is a good idea in itself, it rarely has a place in general WvW. The idea of most PuG’s following someone bothers most, and is best reserved for guilds. They are part of a structured environment, with a clear picture of who is in charge. In WvW, you will find it nearly impossible for everyone to follow you as everyone themselves wants to be a leader. WvW in general has too many chiefs, and not enough indians. Take a look at some of the bigger, well structured guilds. I will use Green Fire(GF) on the Far Shiverpeaks server as an example. They move like machines. Rarely, if ever, have I seen one travel alone, or NOT move in complete sync with one another. If their commander says jump, they are already in the air before he finishes the word. It takes discipline to follow someone; and even more discipline to lead someone. For the most part, the only reason people have a problem with a Commander on their map is that they do not share the same views(or believe the commander is not making the decision that he/she feels should be made). It doesn’t matter what you feel should be done. If you want a commander, then follow the commander. If not, don’t complain because there are none you “agree” with.

Sounds fun, but with night-capping servers guarenteed to be top ranked, that would pretty much ensure only those servers got the “zone”. Now, you have even MORE people server hopping to that one to take advantage of it. Yes, We’ve all heard the “recruit off-peak players to your server” flame; but we all know to move a guild requires a complete wipe of all upgrades. Realistically, who would do this?
The orb bonus helps them none when they night-cap everything. They have no opposition to use the bonus against.
I understand where the OP is coming from, but this isn’t always the case. I am on Far Shiverpeaks server in EU, and Vinuzah is leading by at least 120k points. Every night, they get the orbs(along with the rest of the map). However, by mid-day the next day, we own at least 2 of them; if not 3. If not for the orb bonus, we could very well be even farther behind.
My killshots usually do between 8-13k. I have almost full berserker gear; save 2-3 Invader pieces. If my killshot is dodged, I’m left with volley, which isn’t going to do nearly enough damage to down someone. After those two, I am left auto attacking. I never travel alone. I always mark the target I’m about to hit, and my team always hits the target I mark. You think dropping my killshot is going to make a difference?? Whether the 13k came from me or my team, you’re going down anyway. WvW isn’t sPvP. Stick with a team. 14k hit is too much? Sounds to me like you need to stop trying to glass cannon yourself as well. What I’m hearing is that its okay for YOU to glass cannon build, but not me. Maybe you should drop some power for Vit/Tough gear. I don’t ever recall a game having PVP gear that was glass cannon oriented for a reason.
I’ve been hit by thieves that pretty much STAY stealthed(to the point I can’t even get them targeted) and destroy me in about 2.8 seconds. I’ve been rocked by mesmers that blast 500 clones and kite me around(mesmer doesn’t need to be “in range” to drop them). Guardians? They have so many bubbles and reflects that even if I DO get a killshot off, it’s either going to be absorbed or reflected anyways. And of course there’s the Necro with their TWO HP bars, 200 DoT’s/conditions, and pets that charge and knock you down. And then there’s the profession with the roots that never stop, cannot be killed with the rifle. All you get is a big fat “obstructed” when you try to kill them. So, you switch to a melee, kill the roots, and then are stuck with a melee weapon while the swap is on cooldown.
It can be argued that none of the above would come into play if I get my shot off before you realize I’m targeting you. So, because I have more situational awareness than you, I should be penalized? I saw you first, I targeted you first, I reserve the right to kill you first.
Everyone has their strength and weaknesses. Mine is pure damage, and nothing else. If something goes wrong, or I don’t get my abilities off, I’m done. Not to mention 1/2 of the time my shots are “obstructed” by nothing but air.
