More reason to not come back.

Tired of the lack luster/half-baked content

Tired of the failed promises.

Tired of waiting and hoping for things to get better.

In a way i’m glad to see Mike make this post. It was kind of the nail in the coffin for me.

Thanks for a fun two and a half years, Guildwars 2.

I’ve been running this in spvp for a while now in my tournaments and hotjoins alike. The overall trade off of sustain for reliable damage has always been a problem of mine. I’ve never liked the way main-hand dagger played; be it d/d/ or d/p. I’ve also never been overly fond of specializing into a single type of damage. I’ve always gone for balanced builds and with this, you get just that. I’ve tested this in every scenario possible and it has exceeded expectations at all levels; be it 1v1s, Team Fights or what have you.

Your Jewel, sigils and runes more than make up for the lack of specialization into critical strikes. It is thanks to this that sword/dagger remains a viable option when not specced into critical strikes. It may seem meager on paper, but trust me when I say that modifiers more than make enough of a difference here. With Sword dagger you have everything you need to be down someones throat. Flanking strike is now a great way to get around the map, similar to heart seeker.

You also have everything you need in the way of sustain thanks to your specialization into Shadow Arts. Mug is also traited to damage, heal and daze all at the same time. The heal is actually somewhat considerable thanks to your celestial amulet.

You have more than enough in the way of condi pressure with pistol/dagger thanks to your speccings into trickery. You can just as easily play keep away from more cc oriented builds in between your 5,2 and 3 skills. Thanks to your traits in shadow arts, you also blind up to five targets in the immediate area any time you go into stealth, including when you land cloak and dagger. I mostly using this weapon set when i’m trying to play it safe or wear down a high damage/cc oriented opponent, but it can be just as useful when attempting to shut down a specific target on the opposite team in group fights.

It is by all accounts a hybrid spec, requiring the user to often switch between weapons in order to be effective. You direct damage fall off becomes considerable the longer you stay with a single weapon layout.

It also requires the user to be very familiar with landing and using cloak in dagger in order to work. This build depends heavily on opening and abusing stealth in order to be viable, as your regeneration and condi cleanse come only when you’re in stealth.

Like most thief builds, it will ultimately be only as good as the player using it, but in the hands of a skilled player, you’ll be a nightmare for almost any spec 1v1 and a major factor in team fights!
