I have had this happen on occasion, but not quite like your experience. I’ve had the person standing in front of me get the mail I was getting ready to send to a guild mate. What I discovered is that I needed to right click my guild mate’s name (or any name on your friends list) to create the mail…then drag items from your inventory to the mail.

The key here I found was to make sure anyone you mail stuff to is on your friends list to begin with. Use the right click name method to create the mail, then move stuff into the mail for them.

Thanks, I’ll be sending all mail using this method from now on. It should be the perfect way to avoid the glitch, as it completely avoids the danger of opening a blank mail template and manually typing a name.

I can’t speak for the topic creator but in my case our mailboxes definitely had more than enough room in them.

A glitch where mails are being sent to random player names definitely exists after asking around in Lion’s Arch and Divinity’s Reach, but when we submitted a support ticket, the reply said the same thing, “you can only have 10 mails in your mailbox”…

When sending valuable items I strongly recommend being extremely cautious, if a stranger’s name appears in the sender line, close the mail, log out and in, and travel to an unpopulated (non-city) area…

I’m new so I don’t know what the trading post has to do with the mail system, however I have information on the subject of mail failure.

On the same day you created this topic, my friend received an e-mail from someone they didn’t know. She replied back and discovered that the sender intended the message to be sent to his own friend, and he had no idea why it was sent to her.

A couple of hours later, I was trying to send her some mail and in the recipient line, a random person’s name appeared automatically instead of hers. I began to type her character name but halfway through typing it, the name again changed to some random player. I closed the mail system and tried again.

Then, when she tried to reply back, she reported the same thing happening – random people’s names were appearing in the “To:” box, even as she tried to type my own. She double and triple-checked that my character name was the one written, and then sent the message, but I never receieved it. It seemed that even though my character name was in the box, the mail server still sent it to one of the other players.

The enchanted stuffing and glue were in that mail, so it was quite a loss, hard lesson to learn.

Regarding the two posts above me, the issue I can see with being able to delete authorized networks would be…what stops a hacker from deleting the true account owner’s authorization? Also, the support team here is extremely helpful and diligent (I can say that from firsthand experience unfortunately), so if an unauthorized user did add themselves, I’m sure support would quickly work with the true owner to make the situation right. As far as cleaning up old IP addresses goes, that’s sounds purely aesthetic and it wouldn’t be justification to give both users hackers the ability manually delete authorization.

At least, that’s how I read the situation…don’t know what the official stance is.

Thank you very much for shedding light on this situation so quickly, it has put my mind (and I’m sure the minds of many others) at ease.
