Hi there , I would like to give my view of GW2 , just one request from me , I don’t want any smartkitten coments , would like to say what I have to and if you have anything worthwhile too add please do.
Firstly , The lag , I have a fairly decent pc , I play most games on high(with shadows off) but in GW2 I drop down to 3-7 fps around a lot of players , such WvW or Kor.
Secondly , the no raids bit. I see what AN tried to do , trying to break away from making players focus on the end level just to jump on the gear treadmill, spending months getting their toon all the latest gear just to be scratched down to nothing after the next patch. But for me this was fun , I was never a hard core raider , but I did like having progress under my belt and a toon that was in great gear , somthing I could be pround of. Iraided for a few months in WoW , being 18 now , school and family has always been more important to me , so I avoided spending hours infront of the pc during the week. If I can remember correctly my guild raided 6-8 hours a week.
Being a huge Star wars fan , I brought myself SWTOR the second day it was out and living in South Africa , it was a mission getting it here haha, but still to this day I think it was worth it(althou my account hasn’t been active for months) at level 50 the guild I was with started raiding , it was really fun. People seem to be glad that there are no raids as it becomes repeative and such. Yes ! It is the same boss you’ve killed for the past 4 runs and he still hasn’t learnt from his last time alive so yes he will die again and then loot time, its eather loot you have or don’t need. But that really made it for me was the little laughs inbetween , that is what makes an raid for me.
With no raids out of the way all I have left is the WvW. I’ve seen a lot of posts saying that we don’t need raids as we have this WvW, but for me , I don’t agree. I never have been a major pvp freak , didn’t do much pvp in SWTOR but I did do quite a lot in WoW , its fun to smash someone elses skull in , but I wouldn’t have it as the reason I play.
The que time also bothers me ,I understand their are a lot of people wanting to get in but 3hrs+ on my first wait was just insane, and after getting in I really only played for a few min as the graphic lag was unbearable , my 70fps dropped down to 3 when somthing would happen ,honestly didn’t enjoy myself and I don’t want to spend money on upgrading my pc just so I can do WvW.
Atm I’m a level 54 Elementist ,I have enjoyed the trip so far , but the thought of no raids in the end and no pvp, just makes me think I’m going to get to 80 and think “ok what class now” this is not what I want from an mmo.
With all that said , I do think arenanet have done an amazing job and I would recommend it to people, but is it for me ? Not sure.
