I liked Gw2 due to one solid thing.
It was NA and EU only.
Now it became,
- China, then NA&EU.
Anet is focusing too much on improving experience for Chinese community and enforce it on NA and EU.
As far as I’m aware the only thing Chinese players have gotten that we haven’t is the VIP system and some terrible paywall mechanics like needing to buy an item from the gem store to identify dye.
If that’s the choice I’d much rather have the NA/EU client.
I had played GW2 in Chinese server for almost nine months. I observed that VIP system is just OK, and no VIP players are capable to be superior in PVE. But what I should say is that Chinese server is actually dying since the Chinese agent failed to stop god accounts, which are always ran by organized ‘studios’. GW2 is a dying game in China, and the most passive players in Chinese forum even predicted that the server will be closed before 2017.
