Don’t you want the humans to dance the Macarena too?

That would be awesome, wouldn’t it??

*11- Traits templates managing system and no fees required to change traits.

Agree with the templates, disagree with the cost, it’s such a low cost anyway and all games need a goldsink of sorts. In Guild Wars 1 you had to pay to change your build (with points you got from playing Missions), then they allowed respecing but to change your secondary prof you had to pay (and do some quests), then you just had to pay for it at the appropriate npc (Factions), it was only in Nightfall that they allowed totally free switching, they allowed Heroes there too, you could change their build freely (which was needed because they were so many!) so it made sense to do the same with players. Atm it’s not needed in GW2 and I don’t see a real reason for removing it.

I understand your point and know the background, since I’m too and old school Gw1 player, but the bottom line is basically this: Gw2 gold sinks are the crafting professions an the AH, on the other hand the two fees I’ve mentioned are just ripping you off..
You correctly mentioned the in game changes regarding the attribute points of Gw1 , but those my friend are things from the past, like 2008 and even older, but now we are in 2013 and, when it comes to making MMOs, I don’t think Anet needs to go down that old road again, just to find out that at the end of it there’s the place where they should have started to begin with.
When its all said and done the only good thing that you’ll remember about these two fees is that they used to exist..

12- Way point travelling fees

I wish they would either remove waypoints or increase the price considerably, maybe then players would run through the world and try enjoying the ride. Remember it’s all about the journey not the destination, if they allowed free usages of WPs everyone would just be teleporting around, instead of moving through content and participating in events. The only players that will “benefit” from a removal of fees on waypoints are those who do only one/two events and spend the rest of their online day farming ori/wood/omnoms. Not needed at all, and much like Respec fee it won’t change any time soon, if ever.

I agree 100% about the theory part of “enjoying the ride”, but don’t tell me you run all the way across from the Iron Marches, or some far place like that to LA just because its fun.
No, you teleport, and I bet you also take in consideration the travelling fee cost when choosing your destination.. And I would also bet that when porting out of Orr, for example, the majority of people will choose LA instead of The Grove or even Rata Sum, that are closer..

But that brings us to another issue that is the overpopulation of LA, while the other (beautiful) capital cities are “almost” empty, and why is that? You don’t need to spam the chat to sell stuff (like LA, Kaineng and Kamadan back in the day) because you’ve got an AH… Well I bet 95% of the population always travel to LA nowadays because of (no order of importance):

- Mystic forge
- Class trainers
- To form parties due to the lack of a in game party search system
- Bank (why isn’t there a crafting spot in the end game areas??)

When in Orr I find myself heading out to Southsun Cove just because its cheaper and less hectic than LA, an because it also has the bank and the AH…

To be honest the fees are just the tip of the iceberg, that I hope to see updated during this year, because when it comes to builds management, overpopulation and party searching there’s still a lot to improve.

2. Region-wide party search Again research, Over flow has every regional server in it. Secondly if your waiting hours for a group then your doing something wrong. I wait no more than 15 minutes tops usually 5 minutes, use www.gw2lfg.com Arena Net supports this site and sometime this month or next month that interface on the site will be an in game UI as per the dev’s.

LoL @ this part! Research?! Not having that tool in game since the start is like saying you have one of the fastest cars built, but you forgot to include the key whole to start it!
Well it will still work, you just need to research and mess with wires so you can quick start it! :P

An option to disable right click targeting

I posted in another thread a suggestion to improve targeting ASAP, because it’s currently the poorest game play feature, without even realising it was due to this..

Well I did noticed there wasn’t a option to bind mouse 2, but I didn’t linked the two issues.

One thing is certain, this has a major impact on the game play, even more in PvP were it can be the difference between wining or losing a duel!
The visual appearance of target marks also needs improvement in order to be clearer while cycling foes..

I was also thinking of doing a wish list of useful things that Anet could improve for this amazing game, so instead of duplicating this thread I’ll just add some more stuff..

After reading the original post I certainly agree with most of the suggestions, although some of them might be a little bit to personal issues that someone would like to see improved/changed, but that I don’t think that would concern the majority of players and the actual game play (i.e. town clothes, magic find, etc).

My suggestions are:

11- Traits templates managing system and no fees required to change traits

We had this in Gw1 and we need this in Gw2, because it can be a waste of time just having to redo/remembering a certain build that we liked just because at some point we wanted to try something new to see how it worked!
And no fees because this game is all about experimenting and messing with skills/traits, and at 3 silver a change you will certainly have some people not doing so many changes as they would do and just sticking to what they found that worked…

12- Way point travelling fees

Well this has no use whatsoever, other than dilapidate casual players cash and for that we already have tolls and taxes in real life

13- Targeting

It is my opinion that, at this moment, this is the poorest feature (and its one of the most important, more than dodging..) of the game play and it feels kinda broke to be honest, specially compared with Gw1.
Due to a number of options that Anet chose for the game design, I’ve found myself quite often “losing” the called target, or lacking the capacity of being able to quickly chose the closest target or clearly cycling through other targets without having to actually be standing right in front of my foe!
Since there’s a lot of info (spell effects, etc) going on in the screen, if you don’t have a solid target lock (no, I don’t mean the giant cross hair saying “hit me, hit me!”) you will be quickly lost, running around like a headless chicken and founding that, while you’re at it, the auto attack isn’t working because you accidentally targeted your dungeon/event human player!
The closest target option, well, its range is just toooo close, and the visual effect of target cycling isn’t good enough.
In PvP all of these flaws are escalated because you’re fighting against other players and I don’t think that targeting is a matter of game skill, or at least, it shouldn’t be…

14- Party Search

The game is missing this feature, and the system used in Gw1 would be just fine, at least for starters, because the spam filter is definitely working and this would make the task easier and faster for everyone.

15- PvP in general

This is more of a highlight, because this has been a constant matter of discussion in the forums and I’m sure Anet is preparing some important updates in this chapter.
Gw1 had a very strong PvP aspect, that Gw2 is missing at the moment, specially because of the lack of diversity in game types.
Random BG are not nearly enough and the current Tournaments format aren’t attractive to the majority.
That said PvP stuff like Guild Vs Guild, HoH (were IWAY was the first big example of casual cooperative PvP gameplay), Alliance Battles, 1 Vs 1, Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry formats are must haves for this upcoming year!

I would like to end my post wishing all the best for 2013 to the Anet team and to all my fellow gamers!!
