Master Crafter - will work for tips!

Sad that in the first few weeks a master crafter is akin to a hobo holding a sign saying ‘Will work for Food’

GW2 crafting at its finest?

Does anyone think food/cooking is pretty much worthless for making money?

Magic Find is the issue you nailed it.

Lets think on that a moment:
1) IF I am stacking magic find, the reason is to find more and better loot. In this case I lose out on vital stats.

2) IF I am stacking real and vital stats and not magic find, I am losing out by getting less and worse loot.

In Either case, YOU LOSE!

Leecha Life.

Your name is very fitting……..

Also your ‘Guild’ or at least the people doing the work would make more SELLING MATS THAN ITEMS. That is the point.

Really worth it?

I salvage only Leather or cloth white or blue items.

Everything else is basically vendor, if not worth using or selling on TP (lol gluck with that).

Can you tone down the butter and chocolate?

I would also like to take this opportunity to call out Linsay on thier so called use of crafting in-game as stated.

IF…IF…IF you have even attempted crafting THE FIRST THING you notice is that your finished product is worth less the what it takes to make. (I have done leather and jewelry and not a single item sells for more).

I hate to be the one to break this too you since you are obviously living in denial, But crafting in GW2 is a terrible design. Personally I believe the biggest offender is crafted items sell for next to nothing to a vendor so all I see on the TP is them listed one copper higher. (NOT to mention that these weirdo dont even realize the 15% take from TP means they make LESS than just vendoring it.)

TIP For Future System Design: Always bet that the end user is stupid….its the smart bet.

In order to set crafting on the right path EVERY SINGLE item needs a higher vendor value … OR every SINGLE ingrediant for EVERY profession should be available via an ingame vendor via coin.

^^ This means EVERY item has a reasonable minimum price OR EVERY ingredient has a maximum value.

The ONE and i think ONLY thing swtor did right was materials, since they were gained via crewskills they had a minimum and maximum price threshold. There was a reason for this and you would do well to answer why all by yourself.

NOW, on the off chance you wish to reply and say crafting is worth while I would ask you respond with exactly what it is you are crafting to base this on, I will then compare any items you claim to craft and be worthwhile with the TP price for the ingredients and the finished product in order to remain in context.

You asked for feedback. The most objectionable feedback is usually the most valuable. You are welcome.

I melted down all my butter and chocolate together and now me and the Anet team are going to go for a swim =D

But really, in a crafting system with sub combines…..why are butter and chocolate even ‘ingredients’ They should be sub combines….or in the case of chocolate an actual finished product like the filgree’d gems(can use on own or further combine).

This is your real problem…

Additionally, I do not see why cooking cannot have recipes that are coin or karma only. When was the last time you seen a real life farmer go hunting for his crop of corn? There are enough farms around …so this just fits. Farms produce and sell produce and various ingredients. If these were spread out and purchase amounts were limited that would offset your ‘so-called’ reasoning behind not allowing a coin based recipe.

Also PS: EVERY Recipe is COIN BASED as long as the TP exists.

TL:DR Butter, your doing it wrong by having it drop period!

OK lets switch it to thinking about guns… or fireballs. Instead of swords.

If you were dual wielding guns you would be less accurate and do LESS damage to your opponent trying to fire both at once.

This one I know is fact….was proven on Mythbusters.

Irony being if you were really holding 2 weapons like say as a martial artist.

No you would darn well never attack with both at the same time. Not even to pull an Anakin and lops off a head using em as scissors, it just would not work well.

In Martial arts the reason for using a shorter blade in your left or ‘offhand’ was to block and parry away blades.

Lunging at someone with 2 blades/dagger would be a sure way to take a fatal blow, not inflict one.

You youngsters need to watch more Bruce Lee =)

But yes as a video game I agree the disparity between the 1 button attack on one hand vs. 2 hand seems big…well that is only until you realize that attack speed plays a factor too. At least it does for me Engy, he attacks harder but slower with rifle, but faster and weaker with pistol. I believe this is how they balance it. the 2,3 skills however I think would be the most pertinent since for most 2h vs 1h they have the same cooldown length??? or do they?

1) really? I am at lvl 50 and have yet to see the same zone twice- in fact I get a huge kick out out seeing new zones because they are always different

No Offense but you need to open your eyes then, every zone in the game follows the exact same pattern and none of them have a theme I can name (except the asura starting zone….thats was a theme!)

2) You don’t seem to realize that hearts are just guidelines- they weren’t even in the game originally? I usually don’t even bother with them unless I really want their karma item or until I want to complete the map. There are no quest hubs, thank the stars!

No they are quest / dynamic event hubs….. the only difference is they dont go into a quest log…oh wait yea Hearts do…

3) Oh but they do!
The amount of people doing them change things so that it stays mostly on most good outcome on high pop servers.
But you do know that they chain, right? If you wait around and talk to npc’s it often sparks a chain that goes on and on.
In my case if I log on and the server is very busy and I have done the event already I just move on and do something else until the zerg has passed.
Often I get the rest of the chain because I am around but the zerg has chased the next event.

I have yet to see one….they ALWAYS contain the same mob/mobs or the exact same number of waves attacking the exact same spot… that IS NOT Dynamic…look it up.

4) The zerg moves quickly, gather some materials for 5 min and they will be gone over the next hill

The Zerg is constant, sorry but by the time one zerg goes over hill the next one comes the other way.

5) I hate instances which is why I have not done dungeons ( leaving that for when I can get a reliable team and have the time) but personal story instances are great

Good luck, trust me you would not like them in current format.

6) The game is 3 weeks old what did you expect? People play games to relax it is fun sometimes to herpkittenaround. Not everyone has he time or the need to be good at a game. Sure over a longer time- span you will see individual skills improve. I get a kick out of getting better as a player and more skilled with my profession.
I must also admit that some of my most fun moments where me being really blonde!

I am not talking about specific skill in the game, I mean general skill and knowledge. Undertanding stats and weighting and all that good stuff to. (a lot of people if you ask them actually think 1 point of healing should make a heal spell heal for exactly one more /facepalm … this is basic RPG stuff for peet sake like from before video games even existed and we played with dice)

“Incidentally I’m curious, if you didn’t even know you can transfer between servers how are you so certain of how DE’s work on all of them?”

My folks play on a different server SUPER Casually and they say the exact same thing about DE’s “where is the dynamic part?”

join a smaller population server = No such thing = They are all zerg fests ATM

Also how am I suppose to do that when ‘locked’ into a home world already.

1) Repetitiveness. – Every Zone/area feels exactly the same.

2) Quest Hubs – yea don’t lie you still have em; now it is just run to heart and do their quest which even shows in the helper while waiting for the DE event to spawn for that area.

3) Dynamic Events are FAR FROM dynamic. Being Dynamic implies they change, this is not true as event is same over and over again.
3a) These do not have the feel they should when the same event happens 3 times in 10 minutes.

4) Overcrowding – everything is one giant zerg.

5) Instances are just plain stupid design. Yea I get that you wanted to try something different but it is ok to admit that something is wrong, that is the first step to correcting a problem.

6) Terrible user base. Not socially, but skill wise 9/10 players I run into are well for lack of a better word ‘crappy’ players. A generation raised by WoW I guess.
(This could be due to the overcrowding zerg rush somewhat but I swear half the people I meet don’t know to to actually dodge, and many don’t know there is an actual button to do so).
6)a) I’m a skilled casual player so finding other skilled players to run an instance is more of a challenge than instance itself.

7) GOLD/MAGIC FIND = Worst stat and game mechanic in history of mankind.
– Dumb people think this is a good thing, smart people like me realize they get screwed out of real stats stacking it or screwed out of loot for stacking real stats. This is a lose, lose scenario; not even a chance of a win.

The most annoying however is Stealing from Bosses.

Love it when the Net comes up or Mace. practically useless, or in case of net 100% useless in that encounter.

You should never steal something that wont effect what you stole it from.

Let's see some thief pics

The true black dye is called Abyss.

Rarest dye out there for obvious reasons. Sells about 4g on the TP.

I was lucky and found one on my Thief followed a few minutes later by ‘Evening Red’

I will have to try and snag a pic when home. She is way hotter than these pics … well maybe except the Charr
