Guild Wars 2

We’ve made a few changes to our website over the past week or so along with a slight change to the way that we are recruiting people into the guild. Please refer to our Rules section on http://www.cogdis.eu to see these changes

We are starting to do weekly guild runs, either dungeons, sPvP or WvW which have been a lot of fun to do, however we are still relatively small and looking to increase our nnumbers. Although we are a casaul guild we do have a small group of members that are online on everyday.

Despite the move we are still recruiting. So if you’re looking for a place to call home where you’re not forced to log in at certain times, or are fed up of guilds that request you join x amount of dungeons/raids/instances a week otherwise you’re out, then we might be what you’re looking for.

I do agree that the difficulty should stay, but this game has a majority of casual gamers, who will win the fight to nerf dungeons. No point in making a fuss.

I’m a casual gamer but I’m not going to be crying out for the dungeons to be nerfed. However, I do believe that they do need to be tweaked a little. For one, damage mitigation needs to be addressed. I was in AC last night with some guild members and the damage we were taking was insane. Three hits and I’d be dead, but…. saying this we did have fun trying to dodge (me unsuccessfully lol) and defeat the enemies.

However, it could have been as simple as the builds we used in the dungeon as we went in the other week with 2 rangers, 1 engineer, and 2 necros and yes we died quite a bit, but we still completed the dungeon in around an hour of starting it! Whereas, we went in last night with 2 rangers, 2 engineers, and a thief and we really really struggled! We just felt way too squishy with taking around 1000 damage per hit lol

I don’t want the difficulty taken away because it’ll be taking away the satisfaction of completing a dungeon afterwards but I would like to be able to survive a little longer than I was last night lol!

yeah it works now When I use BBCode I tend to put the http:// in automatically, kind of a habit that I’ve gotten into!

I second this, I had a similar issue with bumping my thread also, in fact created a thread about it as I missed this thread when searching to see if anyone else had had the same problem!

The other day I posted a recruitment thread in the guild sub forums: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds/Whiteside-Ridge-Cognitive-Dissidents-COG-mature-social-guild/first#post27018 and later we had a couple of new members join the guild and I posted a reply welcoming them to the guild. Later on I noticed that I had a PM and saw that it was from a moderator asking me not to post replies like this to bump the thread and to edit it adding more information about the guild. Now by the time I’d noticed that I had a PM the reply had been deleted. I understood that the post had been deleted and accepted it.

So I go back to my thread and post a reply adding more information about what the guild had been up to over the last week, as was suggested by the moderator, but now that post has been deleted as well? This time I did not get a PM about breaking the forum policies so I assume I haven’t!?

As I said, the first reply to my thread I understood had been deleted and I accepted that I had broke the forum policies without realising it. So why has the second post I wrote with more information about the guild and what we’d been up to been deleted? What am I doing wrong to get my posts deleted? I’ve noticed other users just writing “bump” on their threads and that seems to be fine.

I’ve read the topic “what this subforum is for” and not once is their anything stating that you cannot reply to your threads that you’ve posted. So please can someone clarify what it is that I’m doing wrong?

I don’t think it was me that you spoke to in game! But nps I get curious about other guilds websites and tend to have a look at them lol

About Cognitive Dissidents:

Cognitive Dissidents was founded by myself and my husband during our time in Guild Wars. My husband and I had been playing Guild Wars for 17 months when we decided to create a guild as we wanted to experience the other side of the game involving Guild management, hence the making of Cognitive Dissidents. The name “Cognitive Dissidents” is taken from a William Gibson book. In it there is a club called Cognitive Dissidents and my husband (being a fan of William Gibson) thought it would be a good name for a Guild. Cognitive Dissidents literally means “thinking differently” which is why we use the motto “Thinking Differently to Achieve a Common Goal”.

Since then my husband has moved away from Guild Wars and now plays Eve Online and I went on to play LOTRO where I met some amazing people and made some new friends along the way. However the guild still lives on but sadly depleted and it would give me nothing but pleasure to see the guild rebuilt from scratch and hopefully meet some more amazing people and bring [COG] back to life.

Sadly, my husband will not be joining me in Guild Wars 2, so I have decided to rebuild the guild by teaming up with a friend who has already helped me in so many ways on my journey through LOTRO. During the beta weekend events we have been residing on the Whiteside Ridge EU server and we are hoping to be able to remain on that server at launch.

Our Goals:

Our main goals are to have fun exploring the world whilst maintaining a family friendly environment. We do have an over 18 policy but we will make the exception to any family and friends that wish to join the guild. Of course we will be taking part in dungeons/raiding/instances but on a casual basis, having fun even if we wipe, where no one gets blamed but it all being part of the learning curve. Not rushing through the game but taking our time to experience the beauty of the world, and helping guild members to achieve their goals.
