The ONLY thing I dislike about the Living Story stuff is that it is not permanent.
I gave up GW2 for others games shortly after release; i didn’t hate the game I just had other games that took priority, and was not around for when the LS started.
I recently came back to finish level off and try out some of this LS stuff. Boy was I disappointed to find out I could no longer do any of the previous stuff because of the temporary nature of it.
I came back to Lions Arch burning, some angry chick called Scarlet, lots and lots of champion npcs wanting to give me a proctorial exam and no clue as to what the hell was going on.
Some kind of phasing system could of been used to keep the previous parts of the LS in game for returning players and such or create dumbed down versions like a TLDR event that allowed you to play out part of the LS you missed and still have a chance at a slightly weaker version of any special items that could only be granted from that LS story.
I tried fighting slowly through it but they are so tightly packed that dodging can more often then not pull another mob to to that you just don’t want.
At this stage I would just like the mobs to be thinned out unless the group event is active.
I’m not sure if this applies to any other part of the Personal Story aside from the final step involving the Arah Dungeon.
I began leveling my character when the game released and got to level 47 before I took an extended break from the game. I recently came back with the Battle for Lions Arch Living Story and managed to level up super quick with it which was nice.
I recently got to level 80 and decided I wanted to finish off my Personal Story. I make it all the way to the final step “Victory or Death” and find out to actually reach the dungeon i have to either hope that a few people are doing the group events to allow an easier time of trying to reach the steps of the dungeon or hope that there is a group on the LFG Tool that allows Story mode and has already gotten to the way point.
There are so few people actually running around the game world doing events anymore and thus having the “steps of doom” holding you back because no one is interested in doing the very in depth event for the zone to open the gates is highly ridiculous.
Either the event in the zone should be changed so that it is no longer group dependent and can be soloed, or thin out the heard guarding the stairs so that those that come to this game after extended break periods or people just starting out are not blocked out of completing their Personal Story because no one does the Group Event anymore.
TLDR: I’m on the final step of my Personal Story and I cannot continue because no one wants to do the group event in the zone and I don’t want to waste hours trying to get a group together for the Arah dungeon to find out no one has access to the WP at the dungeon.
