This reminds me of another MMO I used to play. Won’t name the MMO but the developers made this slot machine thing where you can get rare items only obtainable through the slot machine. Cost basically $1 per play. Percentage of getting item was low. And after about 2-3months of milking the slot machine, they released all the items gradually into normal cash shop. /cutwrists
Keyword is expect. It means that you are strongly believing that something will happen. However, it kinda contradicts with chance, as with chance, something may or may not happen.
:)
I really understand the frustration, but it might not be a lottery but it’s a gamble.
Actually, it doesn’t contradict with ‘chance’ at all, because different events have different probabilities of occuring. If someone approaches me on the street they might: 1) ask for directions, or 2) give me $1000. Both have a chance of happening, but which do you think is more likely?
Quite obviously, everyone knew this was only a chance, but expected the odds to be much higher than they appear to be.
Speaking of “expectations”, here’s the thing: ANet wants people to buy stuff from the gem store. It is a big part of their business model. If players learn not to expect a return on this kind of investment, they won’t do it in the future. I know I’ve already decided not to buy keys for future holidays. It’s in ANet’s best interest, if they want to make money off these things, to actually reward people for spending their money.
Expect a reward = profit. It’s really that simple. People will remember this and won’t fall for the same thing twice.
Amen
I just opened up literally 100 chests and no skins. That means the rate is probably 1% of getting skin.
Done spending extra money on this game.
Anyone know where he is?
It pains me to see people complain about this boss so much. Most people spent their time doing the wall jump that they never even tried to figure Giganticus out. My guild and I have beaten him literally over 30 times. Today we had to pick up a random warrior because we were short one. To no surprise, he wanted us to do the waypoint exploit (which we have never even heard of until today) and insisted that we would be wasting our time by killing him in the room because it is “impossible.” Of course we rejected the idea of it and the warrior became frustrated at us because he was confident we were going to wipe. Beat giganticus in 1 go, ( and of course the warrior probably 20times, he died literally everytime he ran back into the room) completed the dungeon in 1hour 10mins. He of course ate his words and was shocked beyond belief that we actually killed it. If this boss is that hard for you, then you don’t know how to play your class or this game well at all. I’ve had every class in there with me and trust me, they do just fine aslong as they know how to play their class. I’ve had an elementalist tank the boss for us just fine. Oh and, I make atleast 40-50s per run with reward + junk items.
Actually, That boss is bugged. We wasted a good 6 hours doing that path. We did everything right, but after she gets about 40%-50% health, the sparks just tweak out and doesn’t resummon her. We got down a method and were pulling in the sparks as soon as she went down taking no longer than 5seconds and it still wouldnt resummon her. They just need to fix the bug, and compensate me for wasting 6 hours on a bugged path
