The anti-mount people,

Give it up, we already have mounts in the game (broom/carpet).

Which a tiny minority uses….as opposed to every second person being on some completely ludicrous, and knowing Anet, complete immersion breaking pink fluro dragon looking creature or what-ever-equivalent you can think of.

Can you imagine how much more eye bleedingly bad zergs and hubs would be? The wings and glow-sticks are bad enough.

I’d have no issue with a “horse stable” service or some such where you could rent a generic looking horse to get around on that ended once in combat but purchasable mounts would make the game even more of a cluster-kitten on the eyes than it already is and I don’t trust Anet in either showing restraint in art design or being able to implement the mechanics without serious graphical anomalies and annoyances to other players.

If they added an option where I could ignore them entirely and switch them off to just see other characters as per normal I’d be all for it but what’s a vanity item without the opportunity to be vain?

If a Mount is breaking your immersion more so then way point travel that you don’t need to be around you just open up your map and touch the spot and your there, but your class has NO magical aptitude what so ever. Then you Sir need to NOT play MMO’s or any other game for that matter. Honestly a mount over fast travel should make you feel more immersed and we aren’t talking about anything crazy just monsters that already exist in game being obtained/tamed that give a perma Swiftness buff while mounted. The feeling of having to obtain/tame your own mount and using it to explore the amazing world they made should be a no brainier. Not having a mount and leaving us to “fast travel” (that you have to have been to the location first) doesn’t make sense. Fast travel is immersion breaking beyond belief but its OK.(Its a multiplayer game)

Give us mounts, keep the fast travel to move to areas quickly simple as that. Hell were getting flying already.. why not ground travel.
