Wheres New Content?? (State of the Game) [merged]

The developers are heads-down working on the future content releases. We are also in the middle of launching the game in China. Launching a game in a new country is kind of a big deal. Because of the team’s focus on game development, they are not able to dedicate as much time out of their workday to posting on the forums. While they might have time to read the forums, they don’t necessarily have time to engage in discussion.

I know it’s hard to be patient in this down time between Living World seasons, but please bear with us. As much as you’re craving new content to play, the team is dying for you to play it.

Unfortunately, I can’t give you any information about future content, whether it’s plot spoilers or timeline. I can say that, as a player, I am very excited about the next season, and I cannot wait to see what you all think about it.

Please know that your feedback continues to be important, our devs are still reading (though they may not have time to respond), and we sincerely appreciate your support and you sharing all your thoughts with us (critical or otherwise).

Couldn’t you at the very least give us a speculation of -when- we get updates again? Is it a case of weeks? a month?

Please announce something

This update silence is maddening. I need to know when we can expect new things…how can I keep my non-WvW guildies motivated if there’s nothing to focus on in the horizon?

When will the next update arrive?

They also stated “nothing new before the end of WvW season 2”, which ends May 30th. So (hopefully) expect an announcement between the 15th and the 30th :-)

A whole month!? Sheesh…thanks for the info, let’s hope they’ll at the very least give us some announcement sooner than later for those among us that aren’t into WvW.

It might be just me, but not having -any- information on when we can expect the next update is making me really anxious. I don’t even need any hints or anything at what it can be, but please ArenaNET employees, could you at the very least tell us when we can expect the next update? Or when an announcement about the next update will be made?

CDI- Fractal Evolution

So, on the topic of instabilities, as a lot of people have said: Something has to been done to encourage people to run more, or ALL the instabilities. It pains me to hear that some people have seen only 2 of the 20 instabilities, purely because those 2 offer the path of least resistance(and as is the case with 49, are too high up in the list)

Re-arranging fractal instabilities in terms of difficulty would be a great first step to this, but as I suggested in this topic before, adding rewards for doing every instability(in the form of achievements, and having some form of repeatability to them so it’s not a one-off) would be -the- best way to encourage people to do so, without forcing them to do anything.

I love instabilities when they change the experience of doing a fractals run, and when they increase the difficulty of familiar encounters by adding different factors to them. Future-wise, I’d rather have 30 more instabilities than 1 new Fractal, as that would add more replayability to it all(especially if a system will be in place to do all the instabilities, as I mentioned) As long as those instabilities actually are notable, like adding a Mossman to the encounter, instead of slightly lowering the time control effects enemies, which in practice affects absolutely no encounter at all.

Proposal Overview
Add an achievement tree that rewards people for doing each individual Mistlock Instability. Then, add a meta-reward for completing all of them with a fitting reward that every fractal runner would agree with: A Fractal Weapon chest.

Goal of Proposal
This proposal will solve a problem that we currently have, which is that they take the path of least resistance to level up their fractal level. Most people are only doing the easiest Fractal levels, like 49, by piggybacking with people that already have it unlocked. This is bad, as they miss out on all the interesting and challenging mistlock instabilities that are in between 30 and 50 that at this point very few people are running.

Furthermore, by adding a highly anticipated reward like a Fractal Weapon Chest to completing them all, it gives people positive stimulation to do all levels while at the same time lowering complaints people have about the RNG that the currently drop system has.

Proposal Functionality
Not a whole lot of functionality will have to be added for this proposal. It will simply be 20’ish achievements for doing every mistlock instability, either added to the Fractal of the Mist category, or in its own achievement tree for clarity.

Simple, but effective.

Associated Risks
I don’t see a lot of risks involved in this proposal, as this is probably relatively simply to implement and I don’t see any drawbacks to it.

Add a reward for doing all Fract. Levels?

So, ever since the Fractured patch, I’ve been enjoying the Fractals more, mostly due to the variation and challenge that some of the Mistlock Instabilities bring to the table. As I am the most fanatic fractaler of my guild, I always had the highest personal level, and through that, I’ve gotten through each and every Instability.

However, I see an annoying trend occuring: People are only running Fractals 36 and 49, the easiest levels out there. I can’t blame them, it is after all the path of least resistance, but it simply irks me that all those 18 other instabilities just get looked over. What’s worse, people use these levels to skip their personal reward level up to 50, and they miss out on funny instabilities like the Mistwalker on 31, or the challenging instabilities on 33, 39 or 43.

Now I was thinking, this is a waste of design, how could they solve this? And then I thought: Why not reward people for doing all the different instabilities, by adding an Achievement group for them? Even better, put a meta in there that, when having completed all the instabilities, rewards you with something very much sought after in Fractals: A Fractals Weapon Box! This would certainly motivate people to run all the different levels and it’d let them see how diverse Fractals can be with these instabilities!

What do you guys think?

The Video

I hope this video will help realize the team that this boss’ current spider spawning behaviour is completely unreasonable.
