Tried rolling back drivers to 295.73, I was able to get into the game in 1680×1050 with everything at max except shadows which I left at high. I still crashed when I walked through a portal, which then resulted in a crash-loop. Could do a fresh install but that’s a pretty extreme measure when I’m 90% sure the problem is either a driver or graphics engine bug. I’d like to see what Anet say first.
Also, haven’t been able to cause the game to crash at the point where it will produce a log so will have to forget about that for now.

I submitted my second ticket for this 3 days ago and am yet to hear back. 120903-013463. Is Anyone from Arenanet able to give us an update on this issue? Can you confirm it is driver related?
note: I received an email advising me that the first one was closed. I’m assuming this was because I didn’t provide game-advisor info the first time around.
edit: @Alpha, I will try the earlier drivers when I get home from work. Have tried all graphics modes, windowed does not work at all for me – this actually causes a different crash, one which does generate a log. I’ll post this up also when I can.

Have tried 296.10 and everything newer. Currently on 306.02 as I’ve been slightly more stable with them. The game was working fine with 296.10 during pre-launch beta access.
Sorry, I had it confused with this (which may be worth trying for some 32bit users too) http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/11377-Force-Windows-32-bit-Support-More-Than-3-2-GB-RAM-Include-Windows-7-Vista-2003-XP
Guys try this fix, ( got it from Guildwars2guru) http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/54373-guild-wars-2-crashes-quite-frequently/page__st__150
first post, page 6
worked for me!!
That fix is only for 32 bit – it allows Windows to use more than 3GB RAM, which should resolve some people’s Out Of Memory errors. Unfortunately this will do nothing for 64bit users.
For those who want to try this but are seeing a dead link, try the instructions here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9583842&linkID=9240697 or just google “enable 3GB switch Windows”

Thanks Roy, had wondered if this was an option.
Appreciate the help Shino, but I think the fact the game works when I use the “face the wall” technique proves this issue is graphics related.
Wireless router here, but issue occurs only on 1 out of 3 pc’s (all wireless).
EVGA Precision overlay is reporting a constant 50 FPS in game. FPS will not drop below this, except for a second or so during the load screen. This seems a little strange though since my refresh rate is 60 and I have set V-Sync to on, with a 60 frame-rate cap.
I just noticed this too. Seems to have sorted itself out for me now though.
Thanks for the reply, Ashley. I’m glad to know this is being looked into.

I have just had the same problem, transferred to a new server, guild lost all of it’s upgrades and 1000IP.
Yes I have, probably should have mentioned that.. it worked perfectly. That PC is currently having it’s own issues though, so is not an option to play on.
Unfortunately no. I also installed EVGA Precision and tried over/underclocking, even tried running the game with fans set to 100%. None of those did anything so I’m back to low settings, 1600×900. My cards idle at around 30deg, temp in game was 49 after a min or so, which also rules out any possible overheating issue.

Yep, P8Z68-V/Pro Gen3. Quick google came back with this: http://www.manualowl.com/m/Asus/P8Z68-V-PRO%2FGEN3/Manual/263046?page=82 which seems to indicate I can. BRB…
Looks like HD3000 doesn’t exist on my board. Nothing in BIOS or Device Manager either.
Renaming local.dat did nothing, will now try BIOS settings and post back.
@Alpha I tried putting my old PC back together – exactly the same as yours. It worked perfectly. Interestingly, the 460GTX does NOT work with my i7 with GW2.
I have tried physically removing a card, no change. Also tried using just my old GTX 460, same issue. Ironically, the game actually crashes less often with SLI left on.
Also, I’m curious. Does my lower the gfx and “face the wall” trick work for anyone else?
Will do as soon as I get home – currently at work
The game doesn’t generate a crash log for this particular issue – I have Ctrl-Alt-Delete and kill the process via task manager when it freezes.
Yes and yes, but thanks for trying.
Windows 7 x64
i7 2600k – standard clock
2 x EVGA Nvidia GTX 560 ti (1GB)
16GB DDR3 1600
Have tried last 6 drivers with clean installs (and cleaned with Driver Fusion). Currently using 306.xx beta
Have disabled SLI – makes no difference
Have disabled Anti-aliasing (lowest settings – performance)
Have tried setting GFX card power settings to “Prefer Max Performance”
Have tried EVERY solution I can find around the net with no luck
Have logged a ticket 27/8, it was closed because I didn’t update it – resubmitted with all requested info, still awaiting reply
Game crashes and gets stuck in a crash-loop (crashes again when I reload game) whenever I:
- hit play
- I change zone
- take a screenshot
- type /bug
- change graphics settings in game
-alt tab
The only thing that works to get me playing again is:
Set resolution lower (1600×900 works but 1680×1050 is native and it doesn’t)
Set GFX settings to min (except sample rate to native)
Log in on my laptop
Face my character to a wall (least detail visible on screen)
Log back in on my desktop.
PS: there is more than adequate cooling and I have checked CPU/GFX card temps with speedfan. Can’t remember off the top of my head but they were well within acceptable ranges.
120903-013463.
Game Advisor output attached.
Note: Game worked perfectly on MAX settings during 3rd Beta (pre-release access)
