As some may remember, engineers were able to use Rocket Boots underwater when the game was released; however, a patch several weeks later removed them from being able to be equipped underwater because, as the patch notes stated, of a bug that allowed engineers to be blasted sky-high out of the water (here’s a video of the bug). It was then said that removing access to them was a temporary fix, but they were never re-introduced. Now that rocket boots have been rewritten and have entirely different function, it’s hardly imaginable that this bug would still occur. Being able to close distance with an enemy quickly would be useful for setting off a point-blank Scatter Mines. Is there a possibility Rocket Boots will be introduced in a future patch, or is there some other reason they were removed from underwater combat that I wasn’t aware of?
This happens to me as well; after observing several behaviours, I am inclined to believe that this is not a hardware issue but a software issue based on a mouse event. Rotating the character model on the login screen, which only causes redrawing of a single model, still causes the framerate drop, whereas rotating the camera with keyevents in a crowded area with a lot of models does not cause a significant drop like the mouseevent does. Additionally, simply dragging a menu window will also cause a framerate drop.
