He doesn’t spam auto-attack until the last 10 seconds of the video, the first 20 feature the pet trying and failing to get into any sort of opportunity to launch an attack.

I agree that these are unrealistic circumstances and rangers aren’t completely and utterly useless as some people like to claim, but the fact remains that everything shown in all 3 of these videos should NOT be happening, under any circumstances.

I knew pet pathing was atrocious but even I didn’t think it was this bad. It looks like your wolf/horse is the ele’s pet.
This amazing thread will get closed but it’s actually a perfect demonstration of some of our biggest problems.

People rage and whine about a “stealth nerf” without even pausing to think for a moment it might be a bug, it’s then confirmed as a bug that will be fixed the same night that it’s introduced, and people respond with yet more irrational insults. You just refuse to give ArenaNet even a drop of respect, don’t you?

Stop behaving like irrational brats just because you didn’t get every single buff you dreamed of in one patch. ArenaNet doesn’t deserve this kind of grief, regardless of what you all think.

I’ll reserve judgement when I see that the bug fix patch notes don’t read:

Fixed tooltip on traps to match new cooldowns

Exactly what i was thinking, extremely vague response.

Hi Anders, I’m totally not here so skip this post and read on…

We made the improvements we had time to test. There are still more ranger improvements but when our time is limited we have to focus on things we know we can fix. Signets and shouts are still on the docket, and I suspect some of each of these will get some love in the next time around. As you can see a lot changed in this build for every profession and we have to test these changes as well.

I do still believe ranger is the profession in most need of improvement after this patch and we will continue to make those improvements. If we could fix everything at one time we would, but the reality is there are a limited # of hours to make changes.

I see a lot of talk about ranger weapons, but I don’t think that is the real problem. I think sword and longbow are both good weapons, which is why the changes take longer. The problems are deeper, in pets ability to hit moving targets, trait lines with not enough viable choices and skills that are often too specialized to really compliment the weapon builds. These aren’t things we can change overnight. The change to Greatsword block was in fact a very difficult change, but we made it because we knew it was the right thing to do.

There are >500 skills in this game, 480 traits, and 2 designers working on this. Even then often we are bottle necked by other issues. I’m not going to say we are not working on these things, nor can I say there are things we could have changed but just ran out of time on, but this was a patch that contained ranger improvements and it will not be the last one that does so. Maybe you want more than honesty but that is what I currently have to offer.

You talk about your time being limited but then you give us a patch in which you have clearly spent that limited time on changes nobody asked for. Now you’ve given us an even more vague response than after the last patch, you ‘suspect’ signets and shouts will be improved next time around? What does that even mean?
I hardly ever post, but I am flabbergasted by the amateurism on display here, doesn’t matter anyway you’re gone and will only be back to post more meaningless damage control after the next patch gives us trash yet again.

2 extra things i would like to see regarding pets. When we dodge, pets should evade too, its pretty dumb when I dodge a treb shot or something but my pet just takes it and flies off the screen. Also I would like to see downed pets get rallied when we kill something, it would really help their survivability without just giving them passive AoE reduction, which I think would make things too easy.
