I play on TC, which is arguably too large as well at least in terms of balance for every server not a ‘super server’. But here’s the funny thing. I never get skill lag in WvW on completely full maps. Know why? First, I don’t run with any huge zerg that might crop up. Zerg play is boring as sin and thankfully most of the people below the super stacked ‘top three’ feel the same. And even TC zergs are nothing compared to the might of T1 server blobs.
So the issue is easily fixed by A. Not running server blobs, and B. Transferring to other servers that need the WvW presence. They should make transfers free off the top 3 as incentive. But the problem lies mainly in the hands of the players who decided lets put 300+ people in one single area on one single map.
If you think it was intended gameplay that the WHOLE server cap be in one spot then you’re deluding yourself with the tactics Anet intended. If you spent even 10 minutes watching any videos where Anet talks about WvW it’s pretty clear their intent was multiple battles raging across the map by various sized groups. Not server blobbing zergs auto attacking each other as they PvDoor.
Arguably yes, Anet could have put some design constraints in to help ‘fix’ this problem such things as a debuff to players who amass too many numbers in a single area would be a good start. But ultimately players will always game whatever system is in place to find the path of least resistance and the easiest way to victory.
They just then complain that the path they chose is suddenly boring, or laggy when it’s a problem entirely of their own making by the decisions they take.
Transfer to lower pop servers. Spread out on maps in multiple sized groups and all the skill lag in the world disappears. It’s like… magic.
In the end it’s up to YOU, how you choose to play the game. But don’t blame Anet when you decide to to take the path that strains the servers in a way of play Anet didn’t intend. Fixing the problem is easily done by you, try it out.
Its fine…Elder Scrolls Online is coming out in the near future. If they are able to handle large fights I will be the first one to dump GW2 and run there.
if they don t want to fix this then people will leave. Every week this is what happens, one server on one side and another one on the other and the whole EB map lags to hell with 20 seconds heals if you are lucky. In this screenshot those are full JQ and full SoR not just a group of 20…the whole map was there.
…. Sooo it’s Anets fault your servers decided to super stack and then have server cap sized zerg/blobs in one single area of the map?
Are you for real right now?
This problem is -your- fault. YOU can fix it by destacking the servers and not running a single blob of the whole map on one icon. Why is this so hard to understand?
The ONLY servers where this is a problem are the ‘tier 1’ servers.
@Mesiphidon.8324
Then why hasn’t arenanet reduced the number of players that can get into the battle lands to fix the lag issues?
They still haven’t found the sweet spot for player caps in a map. And if they lowered it again? Can you fathom how much more crying we’d hear from the ‘big three’ because their queue times got increased.
The primary reason? They expect multiple fights to be happening on the map, they expect groups to be spread out. Some larger groups taking towers, small havoc squads taking camps or disrupting supply dolyaks. They expect fights to be taking place at multiple points on the map. Not the entire server to be in one massive blob engaging the other servers blobs.
The richest part of it all though. These servers are still trying to recruit MORE people. They already complain about lag, queues and unplayability. So their answer… recruit more guilds and then have the audacity to complain to anet. Demanding a ‘fix’ for a problem they continue to compound.
It’s sheer lunacy and baffles every logical thinking process anyone could fathom. But I guess the illusion of being ‘tier 1’ or ‘top 3’ meaning anything is a strong one.
It’s simple really. Unstack and the lag goes away. It’s your fault for creating super stacked band wagon servers under the illusion ‘Tier 1’ actually meant anything. Here’s a hint: It didn’t in the old system and it doesn’t now.
Anet themselves said tiers no longer exist or are irrelevant, so your continued insistence for them to ‘fix’ a problem you the players on those servers created is downright asinine.
None of the other servers experience ‘hour long queues’ skill lag so bad they can’t even auto attack or ruberbanding because none of the other other servers have 100 man blobs facerolling into each other again and again adnaseum.
Hardware for their servers and peoples computers can only handle so much. It was never intended for super stacked servers like JQ BG and SOR to be at the point they are now. Again this is a problem you all created for yourselves.
You want new match ups? You want lagless fights? You want zero or minimal queues?… Unstack your servers. It’s really that simple.
No one else ever wants to fight JQ SoR or BG because no other server is that stacked. It wouldn’t be fun for either side. How anyone thinks 100 man blobs spamming auto attack is fun is beyond me.
Be happy I’m not an anet developer because my ‘fix’ would be to get heavy handed and force transfer people off your servers for more balanced game play across all the servers.
Are YOU serious right now? Of course it matters if claims are real or not. Referencing a video from months ago does not prove a thing about the current class. It only proves that there is NO ONE currently doing well on an elementalist in WvW.
You can continue to make all the crazy claims you want, but the reality is you can’t show a post nerf video of an ele doing well because the class was destroyed.
It’s obvious you didn’t watch the video. He’s using a Fresh Air S/D build. Which means …hey it’s after the latest balance patch. It’s a couple weeks old. Read two. Try again.
Here I’ll even post a link for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGwIM2ZPW_Q
But I’m going to take Lightnings advice here and just ignore you. Clearly you have no interest in reality other then your own imagined one.
Kodiak.3281:Just be glad it isn’t F2P or there’d be another 100 people like him and for every one of them that realizes they’re wasting their time and everyone elses there’s always someone new just trying out the game to replace them lol…
And I thank god for that. That’s half of why I stopped playing Neverwinter Online. Which is fun, but not a long term game.
Mainly I’d like to see the forums be a place of actual discussion, people helping others with builds and questions. Some more real discussion on things that could be done to actually improve the class. I’m aware forum talks and ideas are never likely to end up within the design changes. But actual thought out organized discussion is much better for them to read through and get a feel of the class from the players view. And good ideas may not be implemented directly but can serve as inspiration.
We might even have more dev interaction here if the incessant whining stopped and people tried to have real discussions. If I was a developer I’d avoid this forum like the plague too. It’s all Anet hate, and any time a Dev does post they get jumped on and berated by the community for their imagined slights.

You are Xunleased…0-0..OMG, if you are, I am a big fan of yours..Can I get your signatures please :<3. Joking aside, can I please duel you when you are free? I would love to test my skill against yours. Send me an in-game mail to Kaane Moka when you are on, please. Big thank in advance.
Haha no I’m not Xunleashed. I wouldn’t place myself on that level of play but I am fairly confident in my ability as a player. I was just pointing ARM to that video as I’ve watched it a few times now and he’s an exceptional elementalist. And he’s showcasing what is possible besides the boring as sin D/D bunker build. I enjoy D/D, but I refused to play it bunker, just ugh.
It’s enjoyable watching other skilled players of all the classes because you can actually learn a lot and adapt it to your play style. And I actually ended up giving Xunleashed’s glyph set up a try in my S/D fresh air build and have been impressed by it. I swapped one of my cantrips out for Arcane Shield after the latest balance patch, but honestly after messing around with it I feel GoEP is actually quite under rated. (at least with the proper traits) The amount of uptime on regen/swiftness protection you can maintain with that set up is actually quite decent. And it actually helps you apply more pressure once you’ve broken the stun which gives you time to recover.
Kodiak.3281:Guys like him never reroll. They sit around on forums complaining about the class thinking that will somehow get things changed. He’ll eventually realize that all his efforts will change absolutely nothing and he’ll eventually reroll or just move on.
Changes almost never occur because of forum “feedback.” Most changes in these kinds of games happen due to game data that’s being collected. How many elementalists are being used in PvP. What’s their K/D? What’s their traits? What’s their utility? I’m sure that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what stats they can pull.
Either way, all the doom and gloom is just annoying to read all the time and ARM is one of the biggest whiners. It’s no wonder this forum is so dead. It has a horrible atmosphere. And I usually try to avoid posting in forums like this, but just the incessant kittening has annoyed me beyond belief. Ele’s need work yeah but they are not unplayable by any means.

I don’t know why pve’ers/wvw cry about ele nerfs. Hardly any of the ele nerfs exist out of spvp. I have put my ele on hold in spvp because sor was over nerfed (I don’t like glyph heal) but it wasnt touched in wvw/pve. Healing ripple and Evasive Arcana nerfs as well were just in spvp. My ele in WvW and PvE is kitten good and Im not even in ascended gear yet. Are you crying about not having 3 stun breakers? That’s just a l2p problem.
Right… No one has ever been effected in WvW by moving 4 times slower. Clearly a l2p issue for those people that can no longer outrun zergs or catch up to their targets.
Please share your masterful wisdom oh yee of great PvE power. Teach us mortals how you WvW so well from divinity’s reach.
It is a l2p issue if you believe we are unable to outrun a zerg as Ele. We still have a lot of mobility with rtl not getting affected by cripple or chill and the 1200 range along with fgs, swiftness and lightning flash to escape from zerg or catch up even thieves. If fgs mobility gets nerf then it will hurt all eles that are not from the norm race in term of mobility.
I think it is soooo cute that you claim to play this game and also claim that an ele can catch theives! Trolling is bad, stop it.
Erm, how the hell did RTL nerf hit S/D more then D/D?
With S/D you can still hit players from range, with D/D you`re stuck at melee only, hence D/D got hit most from that dumb nerf.
This^ And when in melee range what does an ele need to survive? Mobility!
Plus everyone knows S/D is garbage. The only difference now is that so is D/D so people act like S/D is worth playing… it isn’t.Why are you here? Why do you still play Elementalist if you hate it so much? At this point it’s pretty clear you can’t adapt, have short sighted ideals about the class and are very likely bad at it. Your posts seriously make me question the mental capabilities of a lot of elementalist players.
Sure Elementalist still need a bit of work, and yes the RTL nerf is extreme and too much. But the class is still very playable, it’s still a staple in tpvp, staff eles are MANDATORY in organized large group 15+ WvW play. DD and S/D eles can roam still especially if you pair up with a thief. Yes solo roaming took a hit, get over it or go roll a thief.
also if you seriously think S/D is weak, then sorry dude you’re just bad at it. It’s a l2p issue there. But somehow I don’t see that happening, instead of rolling another class since it’s clear you refuse to adapt and hate your elementalist you’ll waste all our time kittening about how much Anet ‘hates’ ele.
and in case you didn’t read all that, the tldr version: kitten and reroll already
So you are going to post a video of your d/d or s/d ele CURRENTLY winning some fights then eh? Didn’t think so.
I win fights all the time, 1v1 2v1 ect. Last night my guardian friend and I won a 6v2 in WvW while doing our daily. And I stream frequently, everything from Spvp to GvG. Why don’t you watch the Xunleashed video if you demand something right now? It’s a pretty good showcase of a skilled elementalist.
Oh and go re-roll already. You’re obviously not happy with the class.

I’ve played around with it extensively. And I’m pretty sure it does have the 5 second ICD. The thing is that ICD starts as soon as a crit activates Fresh Air, so by the time you switch to air use a skill or two and swap out. The CD will already be reset, or almost be reset. So it might seem like it doesn’t have a 5sec ICD due to the fact an early crit in another attunement will make air ready again in less then 5 seconds after swapping out.
Basically it’s seems to not have an ICD because you’re reading 5sec ICD as if it doesn’t trigger until you leave air. So you’re correlating the ICD with Air having a 5 second attunement recharge. I was confused about it at first as well but doing some testing showed what’s really happening.
It’s actually pretty easy to test it with Arcane power. Swap out of air, and as soon as Fresh air goes off switch to air, then switch out immediately. Pop Arcane Power and you’ll see it will not trigger Fresh Air immediately it’ll take another 3-4 seconds.
So moral of this thread. Good Ele’s realize the buffs we got, bad eles complain and can’t get over the fact that their D/D build got changed up a bit. Stop being halfway sheep, just go full on sheep and go re-roll thief. This class clearly isn’t meant for you.
Ele’s still need some work certainly. But this patch was a buff, and a big step in the right direction. If you can’t see that, then you have zero understanding of the class. And no ones going to write a huge thread so you can all mindlessly follow it.
Air attunement -> pew pew -> switch fire -> crit -> oh look, I can switch to air again
that’s what it means
Thanks, that’s what I kind of thought. So the 10sec cooldown or 7 seconds? can’t recall of the top of my head would be null once you get a crit? Interesting..
You can basically go into air every 5 seconds if you have a half decent crit rate. I was just testing it out. It’s actually really awesome, but sadly only really useful for scepter.
So there is yet another new PoI added with this patch. I thought if you had 100% map completion these things updated automatically? At least it did for my friend.
And after having found it, we can’t get it? If you’re going to keep adding new PoI’s at least make them obtainable when they come out please.

okay ….
so ….
nothing change ,right …. ?
they dont nerf ele this time , pheww ….no, they did.
according to the post I saw, there are some insignificant and useless buff to staff skills, and they nerfed arcane wave and some other abilities, as well as the supposed…er…“buffs”…?…to the traits…I haven’t yet decided if these trait changes are good or bad. most of them seem relatively useless…a grandmaster trait that doesn’t even do as good as I can get with a tuning crystal…and how many ele’s run condition damage builds anyway?…sigh…useless…
Assuming the leaked notes are true about the cast time reductions in staff. The fact you say it’s useless shows you clearly have no idea how staff works. What you first need to understand is that staff is not a 1v1 or small skirmish (2-3 people) weapon and it never will be. Second, if those changes are true it’s actually very, very significant. If they bumped some of the Staff numbers back up a bit, not to BWE levels but a boost. And maybe made lightning surge instant cast again, gave gust a wider hitbox as well as a few other minor changes then staff would be in a very good place.
Arcane Wave got reduced to five targets from six. So it follows their ‘aoe cap’ now. That’s a terribly minor change.
Stun breaks got moved around we don’t know for sure what to where. But again that’s not a bad thing. Making it so something other then triple cantrips is viable? Blasphemy!
Some of the traits are underwhelming certainly, and I was hoping the tempest defense merged trait would be moved to a master level. But I’m willing to give them a shot and I’m looking forwards to experimenting with the new trait changes.
All in all I’m actually quite excited for this patch. The only people complaining are those who refuse to adapt or don’t actually understand some of the changes because they can’t see past the fact that they might have to alter the token triple cantrip D/D build a little bit.
We’ll get to see what the actual changes are today, but if the leak is confirmed. This is actually a very big step in the right direction for the class. D/D is fun, but it’s time for something else to be viable.
I don’t know if this has been brought up, or if it’s really an issue that can be fixed. But for my aesthetic gear I really like the look of the Koda Light boots with the Sorrow Embrace light pants. It’s a nice armored look. The problem is I have to keep the armor in dark colors because near the ankle the pants which are skin tight to the ankle clip out and show outside the boot. This really ruins the image if you try to use light shades of color. Especially on the pants.
This is easy to see if you just go to the Dungeon armor vendors, preview the Light armor pants from Sorrows Embrace and then preview the light armor boots from Honor of the Waves.
I don’t know if this is an issue with other races but it seems to do it on all the male humans. The best fix I would think would be to make the pant legs cut off at the calf since most boots tend to be calf high. Or if there is something on my end that could be fixed that would be awesome too. My graphics are completely maxed out.
As much as I love getting to towers from downed mist form, I gotta agree with the op. Eles shouldn’t have that privilege while the rest of the professions don’t have it.
Every class can do things other classes cannot. Stop trying to homogenize the game. This isn’t game breaking, it’s not a big deal. Ele’s have a slight advantage when fighting near a tower they control… get over it.
You guys are still arguing with this terribad thief? Let this thread die already.
Dear lord I wish a stone wall is created that said “Discussion open to good Eles please”
Unforutnatley if that happened 95% of the people wouldn’t be able to post in these forums anymore. And I’d have nothing interesting to read here.
So in what Anet as said will be their biggest balance patch to date you’re suggesting the number of changes is too much… okay then. What did you expect a short list? While I remain skeptical that these notes are real for various reasons the number of changes is around what I would expect for the ‘biggest balance patch’ they have yet to release.
Anet just needs to get heavy handed and take a direct approach. Force the top servers to unstack. Approach some guilds give them free transfers off to lower pop servers and a window of time to do so maybe some bonus ‘pay’ for moving. A lot like when a state forces you to sell your house for some impending construction. And if that’s not enough then they will just have to manually move people. And maybe combine a lower tier server or two together. The bottom line is wvw will never have the variety of balanced matches anet wants until all the servers have roughly balanced wvw populations. And the players will never do it themselves. Will a heavy handed approach step on some toes? Very likely, but it would be better for the long term health and vision of the game.
You lost all credibility you MIGHT have had right there. Even before all the massive nerfs, ele NEVER had the best mobility in the game. We were always below thieves, rangers and warriors if all 3 were specced for mobility. Most eles do spec for mobility because we have to thanks to our crappy stats. Thieves who don’t know how to play and spec only for damage and refuse to bring any type of CC abilities to battle kitten ed and moaned till they nerfed us to the point where we are now tied with necros and engineers on mobility. Eles having the best mobility was a myth created by bad thieves who refuse to spec to be mobile with CC yet expect to catch a mobile specced ele who can CC them.
Even with the increase on Ride the Lightning, you guys still have access to additional mobility oriented skills and swiftness more often than a thief. Thieves have not seen any increase to their mobility since March and you guys got an extra 20 seconds stamped onto Ride the Lightning.
After reading some of these responses, I can see you guys need to keep Vapor Form. Not because it requires skill to use, or its fair, or anything else for that matter, but because it’s clear you need it.
And yet there isn’t a single class who can keep up with a thief in wvw if they actually try to be mobile. WvW =/= spvp. Stop being terrible at this game. An ele escaped from your super glass heart seeker spam into a keep with vapor form and denied you a bag. Get over it.
Did you really just say ele’s have the highest mobility?… are we playing the same game? When’s the last time you actually played an elementalist. Because thiefs already had higher mobility then an ele pre-rtl nerf.. nerf. Meaning back when it was on a 15 second cd with 1500 range.
Sorry dude but you lost all credibility there, not that you had any to begin with. Thief’s are in a league of their own in terms of mobility there isn’t a single class in the game that can keep up with them when they try. And please provide citations for anet ever claiming eles have the highest mobility in the game. Oh and for the record any mention of mobility anet ever made about ele’s was in regards to spvp. A completely irrelevant and totally different animal.
You honestly sound like a pretty terrible thief. It took me all of 15 minutes on my thief to figure out how to exploit all their mobility tricks especially shadow step. which is pretty evident you have no clue how to use. Thiefs can disengage from fights at will, any half competent thief can dive into a huge group and get away scott free.
Maybe you should spend less time complaining in the forums about a marginal advantage eles have in WvW and use that time to learn how to play your class. Because after reading your posts, you are very clearly doing it wrong.
This is just a thread about the thief entitlement complex and their refusal to put anything but all the super damage utilities on their bar.
Must be nice, I didn’t realize ele’s had utilities other then cantrips…
But how dare a class have something another does not. Clearly it must be nerfed our thief overlords have spoken. We must allow them to remain the undisputed kings of cheesy and skilless tactics.
Cleansing Fire can still remove stuns, it removes three conditions. Stun is a condition. It’s simply not guaranteed anymore. But if between CF and all your other condition removals you still can’t break stun then quite frankly you’re in a position you deserve to die in anyway.
Lightning Flash will most likely allow you still teleport, and most good players used it offensively anyway to land churning Earth or move during long channels.
Both of these abilities are having their CDs reduced, and LF is getting a damage boost. They are being re-purposed and to some extents buffed in other areas. Get over it and adapt.
Stun breakers are now present on other abilities allowing more options for utilities outside of triple cantrips. Why is this a bad thing again?
As said the only real nerf is to bountiful power, which frankly in my mind is completely fine as speccing that deep into the healing/defensive tree shouldn’t give you the biggest damage boost of all the trait lines.
The sky isn’t falling, assuming the leaked patch notes are real. Which I’m skeptical of. This is a buff patch for Ele’s. So stop you whining, oh noes! you might have to spec out of 0/10/0/30/30… get over it. I for one would be happy to be able to run some OTHER viable options. And frankly 0/10/0/30/30 isn’t even changing that much. It’s going to be almost exactly the same except a slight damage nerf from BP and your cantrips might shift a bit.
The definition of “grind” is repetition of a task. This has been one of the accepted definitions of the word since before video games existed. There’s a reason that some workers refer to their jobs as “the daily grind”.
The way you are using the word is subjective, adding negative connotation to it. The dictionary definition does not inherently imply negativity, only the core concept of repetition.
All language is subjective and based on the context in which it is used. Word definitions change based on how they are used and in what medium. Hence that little saying ‘It is not what you say, it is how you say it.’
Stop please stop making this an argument of semantics. For the most part when people use the word ‘grind’ in the sense and in relation to a game. It means a laborious, unwanted and often ‘forced’ repetitive activity to achieve an end goal. That often people feel is mandatory to play the game. Read the posts, everyone complaining about grinding is using it a negative manner and implying those connotations based on the context of their usage.
As I already said everything, everything let me repeat it again for clarity. Everything in life is repetitive. Repetition by default does not make a task a grind. If you have sex every day, that is repetitive, I guarantee you won’t consider it a ‘grind’. And most definitely not in the sense all these ‘omg it’s a grinding game’ threads are whining about.
I play Guild Wars many times a week, logging in isn’t a grind for me. There are a great many other activities I enjoy weekly none of these are considered a ‘grind’ because I enjoy doing them. People refer to their jobs as the ‘daily grind’ because for most it’s a laborious, forced task that is mandatory for their continued living. People who enjoy their work though, don’t really refer to their job as the daily grind.
Grinding in this context is completely subjective. And if you’re having fun or enjoying yourself it is by the context complained about not a grind.
Frankly too many people have the WoW mindset, it’s sad and quite honestly pitiful.
I do Spvp because it’s fun and I enjoy it, solo or with friends.
I do WvW because I find it fun, and enjoyable, especially with my guild or with friends.
I do dungeons all of them, including fractals, only when I’m playing with my friends because I find it enjoyable and fun.
I do the Dragon events because those are fun.
And I’ve explored most of the world and done a great many jump puzzles just to see the content.
None of this was a grind, I don’t do anything I don’t want to do. I simply play the game and have fun. And guess what, I have three full sets of exotics on my main. Multiple partially leveled alts and a nearly completed legendary.
I don’t care if I’m glory rank 1 or 80, the ranks don’t mean anything other then the types of gear and finishers you can use for aesthetics. I don’t care if I have the WvW specific exotics which are a skin. I play the game… to have fun. And do the things I want to do. Why is this concept beyond other people’s grasp.
Not ONCE did I ‘grind’ for anything. Everything in life is repetitive. EVERYTHING. Things done in repetition only become a ‘grind’ when you stop enjoying them or do them because you feel the need too. By most of the ’it’s a grind’ definitions being thrown out, sleeping every day would be considered a grind. Yet I never see anyone complain about having to sleep at night.
Play the game to have fun. Novel concept I know, but truthfully I think only the ‘older’ generations of gamers actually remember what it means to play a game for fun. And not some vainglorious achievement or some other random carrot on a stick.
I honestly pity the new gaming generations. They can’t enjoy a game for the sake of enjoying it, they have always have some ‘goal’ to get to. Some ‘achievement’ to have. There is always -something- you’ll complain about and say you need and whine about the method of how it’s acquired.
Now the achievements and goals are nice, they add something extra to a game. When you treat them as what they are, something extra. And actually play the game to have fun.
You don’t sit down and play a board game, or a game of cards with friends and family and then complain about it being a ‘grind’. If you do then you’re just a horrible person. No you do those things to have fun and enjoy some leisure time with those people. It’s about the fun. Start having it.
Yes Revolution we get that you don’t like the aesthetics of the zone. Orr has a risen dead theme. It is what it is. If you don’t like seeing all the undead or the looks of the land anymore. The solution is simple. Go to another zone. Nothing is keeping you in Orr. Anet isn’t going to change the the looks of an entire zone for you.
In short, get over it. Orr is Zombie land and it’s not going to change. If you want to see green hills and kill centaurs go to one of the human areas. Problem solved.

He’s a bad and bitter player who can’t adapt new to a more active system. How he can claim damage mitigation isn’t active is beyond me. Other then stacking toughness all forms of damage mitigation are active uses of abilities.
The trinity was crap, and created a limited scope that pigeonholed classes. There is still some ‘role’ bias among the classes but no where near the level of trinity based mmos. Everyone can specialize into a different style and flavor of subrole. It’s upon those sub-roles that team synergy and strategy combination is created. Of course if he spent more then 10 minutes in the game and less time on the forums with his repetitive rants he might learn a few things.
Such as spvp is meant to be a seperate pvp for the sake of balance. There is no gear grind everyone is given equal level of gear so skill and not time spent grinding pve wins the game.
I know these things, my question is how did you collect so much that you made 5g? I’m very efficient with my loot but I don’t come close to that in those levels. Granted, I never sold all of my crafting mats, but I still have a hard time believing that that gets you 5g by lvl 22. Not saying you are lying, just astounded that I didn’t get luckier when I was leveling up.
Sell your crafting mats. That’s what we’re saying. They sell for a lot and you have no use for them if you are not leveling a profession.
As I said… its a zone based on the theme of risen undead servants to a dragon in the wasteland of an Empire. So yes it’s going to look dead. The zone is meant to be a wasteland.
You really are bouncing all over. If you don’t like the aesthetics of the zone… then go to another place man. There is no reason to stay in Orr and grind you don’t like it there. Grinding is useless so just go to a zone activity you enjoy.

Balao, you either bought gold using gems, have another high lvl character, or got some extremely lucky awesome gear that I don’t know of and sold it. I’m fairly confident that you can’t be lvl 22 on your first character and have 5 gold… did you buy a lot of character spaces and level them all up to lvl 22 while saving every copper? Did you sell your characters soul to grenth for a few gold? What is your secret because I’m dying to know as I’m lvl 80 and 5g still takes a couple of hours of high level farming to get.
Sell crafting mats. Certain lower level crafting mats sell for a lot because as he said lazy people would rather shell out the silver/gold then explore zones and collect them. I have several sets of axes/picks/hoes in my bag and I will gather everything I see anywhere I go. Even in wvw. Then just sell it all. You make quite a bit of money.
At 80 it’s even easier, just salvage the right gear, especially some that has desired signets/runes in it. The TP is your best friend. I usually just vendor the lame blues/greens. Check tp prices on yellows and exotics to determine if it’s worth more to sell or salvage. All this can be done in tandem with whatever money making method you use.
I used the mats to level professions in the beginning but a friend of mine had 20g by level 50 or so doing this.
The point is Anet should have easily forseen this. What has happened is quite logical, and not at all shocking. There should’ve already been more then 1 area to grind, but my point is, is the very area they chose to grind is a bleak, dead zone.
… So an area based on the theme of risen dead creatures in service to an undead dragon in the wasteland of a once magnificent empire is a bleak grey zone… You don’t say.
As to it being dead? Maybe it’s your server, the event chains in Orr here are fairly populated. The random out there parts though can be abandoned from time to time. Because well… you don’t need too and shouldn’t be grinding ‘one spot’ there. It’s really not hard to get in or find a group or ‘the group’ doing the event chains. The temples especially.
Thing is most people do the chain once or a few times then go do… other things in the world, as you were meant to do.
In a matter of a couple hours you could do some orr events kill a dragon or two and even run a dungeon if you’re so inclined. And your return on time invested for items/loot/karma/exp ect would be significantly greater then grinding one spot over and over. The game is designed this way.
In short branch out go do things. -Enjoy- the game and stop playing GW2 like WoW and thinking you need or even should be grinding. All that aside… I can’t even think of a reason you would need or want to grind Orr.
And my final point is. They shouldn’t be trying to grind Orr or anyplace at all. The game is designed to keep you from grinding. So complaining about grinding in Orr isn’t even a relevant complaint.

People have become well and truly spoiled when it comes to mmos these days. The sense of entitlement especially when they feel that gear is their ‘right’ to have with minimal effort is a terrible mindset that was bred by the casual catering easy mode grindfest known as WoW.
You don’t need to grind in this game. Doing so is not optimal because it’s done intentionally as a way to discourage it. Play what you want to have fun. A concept most seem to have long since forgotten. The gear will come. And here’s the best part there isn’t a gear treadmill. Not playing for a couple weeks doesn’t put you behind the curve. You can mention ascended gear but the stat gain isn’t really that large. It’s terribly minor and the effort needed to achieve ascended gear more then makes up for the rather moderate stat ‘advantage’… which having 50 more points of stats at 80 really isn’t game breaking.
No rare cosmetic items should not be made more accessible. They are rare cosmetic items meant to be earned through hard work to show off your dedication. A personal achievement. Hence legendary weapons only being a skin more or less.
I play what I want, when I want. I enjoy wvw so I play that, I do dungeons with friends, I do spvp and I’ll help friends level alts or level my own. Never once did I grind an area for hours on end. Sometimes I’ll go a week without playing, sometimes I’ll play hardcore. The bottom line is I’m almost done with my legendary. And I haven’t done a grind even once.
It took me a week of doing dungeons casually to get a full exotic set with my chosen stats. And an additional week to make it look as I wanted cosmetically. You do not need to grind at all. Doing so is simply a foolish waste of time. The special items are meant to be special and achieved through tremendous effort because… here is the kicker. Gear doesn’t matter and getting full exotics is easy just playing casually.
The only thing I can anet needs to adjust which they said they are. Is balancing the rewards across game modes. WvW v Dungeons v Karma v Events ect. And they already said they had plans underway for such things.
Yes, we need more level 80 zones. But many of you seem to have forgotten how MMO’s operate. They come in time, with new content either patches or expansions. Apparently no one remembers there only being one ‘end game’ zone in other MMO’s such as WoW. And those zones ARE total grind fests which are… mandatory.
I have bitter memories of silithus desert in vanilla WoW… among other things. And it hasn’t gotten any better you just get a new ‘end zone’ every new content patch there.
Anet already said they plan on balancing rewards in the various game modes so seriously chill. You don’t need to grind Orr for anything. I certainly haven’t. And we’ll get new content soon enough.
Why in the kitten would you use updraft and fire grab on a downed enemy… you can’t be offering ‘pro tips’ if you’re telling people to waste their biggest cds on people who are down. If someone is trying to rez them I can understand using updraft on the rezzer. But it’s a complete and total waste of a cd on a downed player.
Churning earth really isn’t that hard to land on people 1v1. You can cripple or knock them down and use lighting flash or stability to ensure it lands. You can even sneak in and start the fight with a churning/flash combo. Or do an earth quake followed by churning. By the time they get up from earth quake churning’s cast is half over. It’s all about timing , positioning and using your abilities in tandem with their wasted cds.
