I made a Necromancer to be a MM recently. Minions spend 9/10 fights doing nothing at all.

Just completely broken AI… This is in all circumstances, including straight up fights, where there have been no pathing issues or anything.

I’ve had my Flesh Golem in WvW just stand next to an enemy doing nothing while I fight them.

So I’ve given up on minions entirely:

Their damage is rubbish, they’re squishy and most of the time don’t work at all.

(This is in a PvE / WvW scenario.)

Give me back something like a GW1 MM please. However I don’t think Anet care that a major facet of a profession is broken.

I don’t think it’s a problem with Necro’s per se, but rather players.
Does having a necro in your party make it so you are unable to do a dungeon path? Not at all.
Does having a necro require a completely new strategy and a change in tactics?
Not really (you can still stack and press 1)
Does having a necro mean that the party will wipe every time, at every encounter?
Nope.

Basically people want to do dungeons AFAP (As Fast As Possible). There is nothing wrong with that. But if you are joining as necro and getting kicked, it mostly out of a sense of eliteism, or misinformation. They don’t look at necro as high DPS, when in fact a necro can put out some great DPS, so in their ignorance they kick.

Your best bet would be to start your own LFGs with Any Welcome, or join those ones. You can’t force anyone to take you along, and you shouldn’t expect them too, but any welcome groups fill up super fast, and as long as you know what you are doing, most people won’t even know the difference .

Part of the problem today, is that it’s a weekday. Very few groups in the LFG, and the ones in there are either 8k AP+ (ANET BLOODY HIDE PLAYERS AP PLEASE), “Zerk Meta” (which doesn’t include the Necro), or specifically state “No Necro”.

Someone said to me, “make your own group”. Except you can get kicked from your own groups, due to Anets brilliant decision making with the vote kick feature…

Well I’ve been kicked from at least 5 groups today, simply for being a Necromancer.

Even if the greatsword is the amazing weapon we’ve all been waiting for, (It won’t be, since it can’t out DPS the dagger or it’ll be completely unbalanced) that still leaves all the other necro skills with massive cooldowns, long cast times and no party support…

All of the Necromancer skills need to be reworked with an emphasis on Dungeon play, within the current Meta. E.g. Well of Power, should maybe give might stacks etc.

For Dungeons you need to have a reflect or your DPS doesn’t measure up. The best weapons in the game are nothing compared to reflected boss damage.

Yeah, that too. (I included it under “lack of support” in my head :P)

So yeah, this is basically a venting post. First off, apologies for the crappy topic title, lack of character space…

While I find Necro DPS to be passable, it’s never anything special, their burst skills are on long cooldowns (wells) and simply don’t do enough to support a dungeon group.

Our skipping skills are lackluster and we lack leaps of any kind to help with keeping mobile.

Everyone knows this.

It’s why Necromancers are constantly kicked from dungeon groups.

It’s why I see dungeons groups specifically stating: “No Necromancers”.

My real issue with this, is that it has been a known problem for a long time. Anet just doesn’t seem to care.

Please, if your reply will be “play with guild”, my guild refuses to take Necromancers: THEY ARE THAT BAD.

If you’re answer is “play style” or a critique of my build: I am running a meta-zerk-dps/burst build. It has as much raw burst/dps as necromancers can manage.

Now I know how Rangers felt all that time ago.

With the introduction of the Revenant, it seems the Necromancer will become completely obsolete in the GW2 world.
