This whole QQ thing is the most funniest thing Ive seen in any MMO to date and Ive played or atleast tried them all. I can’t believe how people are crying about getting new gear.
Never have I witnessed people so scared of other people wanting to progress and having different gear. Its almost like.. OMG he grinded so hard for a legendary hes an elitist! the game is broken now! c’mon people Man up, this is an MMO.

What the heck do skins have to do with gear treadmills? Another troll. kitten is this topic just trolls trolling other trolls now?

Its not about the skins, its about having to get new gear. Im saying it how it is.. People here seem scared that if you don’t want to get the new gear than your somehow behind. Thats the bottom line.. No troll in my posts Im calling it like it is.

Then you are calling it wrong. Most of the people complaining including me will get the ascended items if they put them in game. Ascended items will probably not be that hard to get to begin with so most casuals will probably get them too. The problem is about principle, the problem is that anet is straying from what they promised the problem is that if this becomes like any other MMO why should I play this and not WoW for example that I have invested way more time in. I came here to find something different not just some other MMO

After reading the new blog, and holding my tongue on the subject until it was released, I have come a conclusion; I’m okay with this. There is one very important reason why; no upgrade slots.

You’re basically trading versatility for protection from a dungeon specific mechanic and a slight boost in base power. If you can’t add jewels to these things, or I’m assuming runes and sigils once they add armor and weapons, then the slightly higher base stats are justified. Think about that; you can’t put runes in your armor. If that was the case you’d want those base stats to be a little bit higher, so this is a pretty logical step. It also means that you won’t see a very high demand for ascended items outside of that dungeon. After all would you rather have armor with three percent higher stats or a full set of runes suited to your playstyle?

That’s the real comparison we need to make here; is ascended gear without upgrades better than exotic gear WITH full upgrades? Because that ascended gear isn’t going to have upgrade slots.

Most of what you just said is just speculation, we have not seen or heard anything about ascended armor, I could just asume that it will be like an exotic with better stats plus infusions plus the ability to put runes, speculation, we don’t know. What we do know is that ascendant rings have better stats than an exotic with a gem and changing gems on accessories is not that a big deal, if you want different stats just get different accessories.

And so is the idea that they will start adding more tiers in the future and that all future content will be gated.

The idea they will add more tiers after this yes it’s a speculation but the fact is that they will add a new tier and gated content on the next patch, something that is out of line with what they’ve said about their game so far and why people are complaining

No it’s not speculation. It literally says it right on the blog post “This November update is only the beginning of our item progression initiative….”

It’s not “speculation” when it was put in plain English right on the blog post that there will be more of this added in the future, as part of an entire “initiative” dedicated to adding gear treadmill (er… “item progression”).

I considered all the ascendant gear to come as 1 tier, that’s why I formed my answer that way. If they do release all the ascendant gear and then deside to introduce another gear that would be the new tier I was saying was a speculation, Ascendant gear is not a speculation

Colin Johanson:
“The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than
other items, so you don’t need them to be the best. The rarest items
have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of
accomplishment, but it’s not required to play the game. We don’t need to
make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional, so those
who find it fun to chase this prestigious gear can do so, but those who
don’t are just as powerful and get to have fun too.”

Anet stay true to your words… This solution is fine.

Funny how people seem to complain about a small stat increase on a armor slot.
Considering this game has no damage meter or anything to really see the difference in the different stats.
So far it hasnt really made a difference at least for me if i did a dungeon in full exotic or in rare magic find gear.
So why would it make such a big difference between fulll exotic and some new ( small upgraded ) armor?
Apart from the 2nd upgrade slot which is probably needed to do something about new boss mechanics in dungeons.

How about when i’m in full exotics doing WvW and I happen to come by a player with full ascended with a +x% stat boost compared to me? I don’t care about dmg meters but why make me do PvE so I can compete in PvP?
So problem 1 for me if it’s only from doing PvE and you can’t get it from trading post, crafting or WvW while it affects me as a WvW player.
Problem 2, it goes against what they’ve promised us and I quote:
Colin Johanson :
“The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than

have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of

Let’s calm down a bit here and discuss this, are people really going to give up customized runes for a small state increase? All we’ve seen bundled in is magic find…

As I said before the ascended in the picture has +10 stat points and +3% magic find. 3% magic find is 67 stat points if you replace it with an other stat on exotics ex.(67 48 48) so on a non magic find ascended ring you’ll probably have +77 stat points. Now imagine a full set of ascended with stat differences like these.

Less than 3 months after launch :“In November we’ll unveil the first Ascended items. This new rarity type
falls between Exotic and Legendary on the spectrum of rarity and has
slightly higher stats than Exotics.”

I guess anet just proved they’re just like every other company out there, tend to the whiners follow the money ^^

Oh and Ascended items are not just “slightly better” than exotics. From the picture of the rings they posted you can see an extra +10 stat and a +3% magic find wich is 67 stat points on exotics right now if you put some other stat there.
Pretty sure they posted the item with the magic find % on purpose so the difference doesn’t show that much wich is probably +77 stat points from just a ring.
Imagine a full set when or if they implement it…
