Champions still don't drop loot - and more...

Even with the latest patch, Champions often drop no loot, and when I ran Melandru the other day, me and many (if not all – wasn’t sure) others received no chest.

Also, I almost never find exotics anymore. Even running Cursed Shore for hours, I’m lucky to get just a few yellows…

Would be nice to be properly rewarded for playing. Especially when it comes to downing champions. Right now, the rewards are definitely lacking and a big disappointment.

Grenth Event is not good

I love GW2 and think it’s one of the finest MMOGs ever made, however I want to say the Grenth event is simple garbage. It’s not “challenging” in any capacity (it just ensures death, multiple times), and the reward is never worth it. Having run the “new” Grenth a good dozen time or so, I won’t touch it again until it’s changed. My understanding is other players are coming to the same conclusion as well. Perhaps if the potential reward was better, it would be worth the misery, but given half of the time I complete it I just get a bunch of blue items (and the other half perhaps a yellow with the chance of an orange), it’s just not worth it because it is such a miserable experience.

Just wanted to give some feedback to the ArenaNet team so they can hopefully do something to adjust this event to make it more rewarding/challenging and less miserable.

I think GW2 is one of the finest games made. Its versatility and available play styles is unprecedented IMO.

I love the daily quest and new laurel system, but one issue I have is the requirement of doing dungeons for the monthly.

I love PvE and WvW, but I stay away from dungeons. Hate ‘em. I’ve done Fractals, CoF and Arah and never want to do them again.

I don’t like being forced to find/join a group to do a dungeon run just to complete the Monthly. While I understand some players have no issues doing dungeons (and some love it), I think ArenaNet needs to consider some sort of “preference” settings so players aren’t forced to engage in a play style they don’t just dislike, but detest.

For example, while writing this, I just tried two CoF runs. The first was path 1 and there were really no problems. 20-30 minutes. Done. I then tried Path 2. Took more than 45 mins and we had to quit because group couldn’t do assassins. Time wasted and nothing to show for it.

This is the problem. Dungeons with PUGs are hit and miss, ultimately resulting in a monumental loss of time if you don’t have a good group/run with known folks; and it can anger players. Those of us who don’t run dungeons are forced to now enter the PUG space and potentially waste a monumental amount of time trying to complete them… just to complete a monthly quest to do something they don’t want (and shouldn’t have) to do.

Anyway; would be nice to see ArenaNet do something about this. While I love GW2, I detest running dungeons (and purposely stay away from them), and while doing a LFG to complete the monthly, found out that plenty of other players feel the same way.

Server for 100% World Completion in WvW?

Any recommendations on what server would be best for me to temporarily transfer to in order to get my 100% world completion in WvW? I have everything done except for the WvW points, and I’m currently on Henge of Denravi (e.g. don’t think I’ll get 100% WC on this server anytime soon).

I saw the Dec 21, 2012 Server Rankings: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/959-server-rankings-for-december-21st/

But I don’t know which server would be best simply for getting the points (e.g. Kaineng vs Sea of Sorrows). Any recommendations would be appreciated.

And tonight, I’m getting latency hits upwards of 900ms. It’s important the folks at ArenaNet know this problem is growing worse and worse over time (I didn’t have any issues like this the first month). If this issue persists, the game will soon be unplayable due to the massive lag hits. To have this problem from San Diego though a 20MBit Cable Modem is a big red flag… Somebody needs to get a hold of Level3 and find out what’s going on.

Just wanted to keep this thread alive as I am still having the same lag hit issues in Cursed Shore. Terrible stuttering, and there’s not even that many people around. Note this is solely connection, not graphics/CPU/client.

Happened multiple times now. Phase 1 simply cannot complete because we can never cull the undead; it seems to always get stuck around 95-98% complete (and this happens a good 2 minutes before the timer goes out).

Sorry Strife, but when you run an area for 1-2 hours and get nothing from it (while also participating in events and downing champions which drop nothing), that’s a waste of time. I find it strange how people feel compelled to defend the fact this new expansion/content is not balanced nor provides reasonable rewards. As many others have mentioned, an hour in Cursed Shores will provide much more reward than what people are obtaining compared to an hour in the new zone.

Branwin; well stated. I agree. It seems the Dungeon and PvP map were well done, but the rest of the content was an afterthought.

Akula, I am in full agreement with you. This new “event” has been an utter disaster, and the new zone is a waste of time as there is little to no reward for running the highly difficult additional area. GW2 is a fantastic game, but ArenaNet really messed up on this event and the balance of difficulty vs. reward for the new zone. When players are more frustrated and angry than having “fun” there’s an obvious problem. I was running the Shores last night with my wife and a friend. I didn’t say anything, and both of them (the friend being hardcore) said multiple times “this is just stupid. What a waste of time.” ArenaNet needs to know this is how some (possibly many) people feel about this event and expansion.

OK with the latest patch it ALWAYS happens when I enter the Citadel Stockade.

And I don’t use a Windows Page File. Given restarting solves the issue, it’s definitely a problem with GW2 and the caching.

Nope. Just patched and the game goes into “stagger mode” when I enter the central Black citadel part. Definitely some bug; note it bogs down my entire OS; even typing this in another window is lagged massively. Note my CPU usage is almost nothing, so it’s probably some VM/hardware/interrupt related issue.

Deleted. Haven’t seen the stutter since, but haven’t been back to Black Citadel. Will let you know if the issue returns. BTW what sort of data is in local.dat?

I’ve encountered this problem occasionally in the past, but now it’s happening regularly both in Black Citadel and Plains of Ashford. Massive graphical stutter lowering the FPS <5.

Note I’m on a 4GHz 12GB Win7 GTX480 system. Game runs flawlessly on highest settings except when this problem comes up; almost always on “porting” between the zones. A restart of the game fixes the issue, but I’m finding myself restarting the game every 15-30 mins. Never had to do that before.

Authenticator not asking for code anymore

I installed the Authenticator and it was working just fine for a week or so; now when I start the game, it does not prompt me for the authenticator code even though my account configuration shows it linked and active. Any ideas?

Using my WIndows 7 Resource Monitor, I can see the latency for the GW2 TCP connections. I live in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego and have Cable Modem with great speeds. When GW2 first came up, save the launch day fun, I really had no connectivity or lag issues. However over the past month or so, the latency has gotten substantially worse, often averaging out at 250ms when it should be ~45-60 (which is sometimes jumps to).

I wanted to give the GW2 devs a heads up this problem is slowly getting worse and it’s affecting the gameplay. Note I’m on Henge of Denravi Server.

OK folks, here’s the scoop. My 2nd G930 headset arrived today. Works flawlessly with 7.1 enabled. I plug in the other G930. Sound issues between right and left. This means it’s a physical hardware defect in the unit (either in the speakers or in the wireless translation).

In other words I can confirm behavior of some channels playing only on one side (when they should be both) is a defect, not a driver or configuration issue. Since others have reported this problem my guess is a few folks have defective units but don’t realize it because music 7.1 speaker configuration, etc. all work just fine. Go figure.

I just got off the phone with Logitech and they said this is an issue with Guild Wars 2 (and I also have similar problems with Borderlands 2) where the products aren’t completely compatible with the G930 headset 7.1 system. They said it’s up to the developers to fix this issue.

I have this exact issue as well. To reaffirm, the music and ambient environmental FX play just fine. The problem are the positional action FX (such as throwing an Axe) or Positional AOE effects at the center of the character (i.e. an earth elemental casting their ground shake under your feet) all play in the right ear; not the center. This creates a very awkward disbalance.

Also it appears the pulsing sound from waypoints and quest announcer voices are right-ear only as well (which is very odd given the waypoints; even if you run around them, the pulsing stays in the right ear).

The only problem i see with this “fix” is it doesn’t act as true 7.1. The G930 has positional speakers built into the headset and when you run a true 7.1 speaker test, you can hear the sounds based on position. By activating the above approach, it seems to blend the sounds into more of a stereo solution than anything else, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a 7.1 headset. Any other options here?
