just keybind stow/equip weapon—it will easily cancel any skill you’re doing (ie being able to shadow step to a target with steal and stowing the weapon before the damage lands so you can steal without revealing yourself)
i have mind bound to my middle mouse button
For me, I’m one of those people that can do the grind tag and bag ‘selfish’ playstyle. I find farming silverwastes actually entertaining and fun, very rewarding. But the thing is even if I farm it ‘selfishly’ I will still go way out of my way to res a down/dead player, or run back to an event i already tagged if it needs help to successfully complete, or stop and help explain how to do something.
You can’t do that here. 20 events in 30 minutes, assuming it takes 30 seconds-45 seconds to run between them it’s having to get your tags in 15-30 seconds before leaving and going to the next one. And then everyone does this, because 10 blooms is such a mediocre reward and in order not to spend countless more hours, 15 blooms helps shave it off a little bit. Sorry clearly new, level 27 player that downed at my feet, I have no time to get you! Then of course, there’s the chance that you spend 15 minutes of your time madly wping and doing the stressful/tedious/chaotic notion of trying to tag more events and at the very end 5 of the events you tagged never completed leaving you at 19 stacks, the same reward for 10 stacks that you had 15 minutes ago.
What would have been better is to extend it to last 45 minutes instead of 30. I manage to get 20 stacks with 5min-30s left on the event, while my poor party members are at 8-14 stacks going “Wait you can leave before the event finishes?? How do you even GET that many?”
As much as I hate it, how much it actually stresses and ticks me off “Get your dead body off the bombs so we can finish! Hold the catapult until its 100% charged!! KILL THE SHIELD GENERATORS FIRST GOD.” I’m still going to grind my face against it because I wasn’t online during the Battle for Lion’s Arch and I’m GOING to get me a halo whether I like it or not. No really, I was so stoked that the potions were brought back, and the scarlet/toxic skins are nice to those players who couldn’t afford the gems for them. The thing is realistically, unless you literally eat/sleep/breathe gw2, you won’t be able to get much. People have 8-10 hour jobs, have kids to take care of, homework, class, lives—this doesn’t cater to them that well.
Now if it maxed out at maybe.. 5 stacks instead, with 5 blooms per stack at a total of 25, and a small reward given at the end of each event like silverwastes to give an incentive to actually continue doing events to help out those who haven’t gotten their stacks or came late, it’d be a lot better imo. Or just lower the stack count in general if you wanted to keep the max reward at 15, make it 15+ stacks for 15 blooms. Just anything to give a bit more time to get the max reward so that players who regularly farm and know how to go about it can still help the people who don’t. (ie that one level 22 guy that keeps getting 1 shot in aoe)
I’m still glad I get another chance to get the potion, the actual merchant rewards are nice (for the most part) it’s just I think having to farm a kittenload (450 for a potion, goodluck if you want a potion and a gauntlet skin) is asking too much for a little weekend event. I’d expect rewards like this to come from.. Well where they came from—large events like the battle for lion’s arch with achievements, other things to do, titles, etc. Not from an ‘exciting’ little weekend event. It’s asking too much in too little time. Not asking to make getting the higher end rewards easier, I paid gems for my skins and my friends farmed hard for their potions when they first appeared in 2014—but you should really think about time restraints on these things for the ‘average’ player. But yay, still hanging on to the happiness of being able to get a second chance at my potion !
These are things obviously already said but, I just feel ‘thoughtless’ (lel) for having to give new players the finger while I do it. “None of you could res?
” — “If you’re dead wp.” but alas my needs are greater than my want to press f on people.
edit— holy cow thats long
That leads to the second point where I totally disagree with the “hardcore” crowd. At this point its fairly obvious that they want zergball fights and ANet is letting them have those fights within their Guild Halls now. WvW is for siege warfare NOT for zergball open ground fights.
Only.. Large scale fights was one of the main bullet points of wvw. You might as well be telling roamers “Oh, you want to roam and kill people?? Go to pvp!!!” I understand your point for 80 vs 80 vs 80 fights but a 20vs20/25? not a “zergball.” The problem with no/minimal -flat- land is that a lot of skills don’t mesh well with inclines. (hammer f1 on warrior is the BIGGEST—you could f1 an enemy on some stairs and be a millimeter away from them and it still won’t hit) Fix the skill issues with inclines, boom no problem with hill-y surfaces. Siege warfare is apart of wvw, but SO is actual group fights—you got to balance it, no make it a complete turtle fest faceroll 3 buttons on an arrow cart on a cliff where no one can hit you all day. That’s not fun.
I will say the maps make it a lot easier for smaller groups (1-3 for example) to defend a keep so it’ll help out low pop servers a /little/ but it also means they can’t really take anything either.
If anet wants to keep the mobs there they could just remove the ability to rally off them—it’d still be annoying to get hardhitting mobs on you but at least the people you down wont rally.
on a side note I finally got to experience the no fall damage east keep buff and 100% I’m on board I love it (though it’ll suck when I’m fighting someone with it and they can just hop off a bridge to get away lmao—but it’s w/e, hope it stays so I can witness a large group eagle diving ofkitteniant cliff into the valley below onto another enemy group)
—also I’m sure the “it’s so big!! too complicated to get around!!” will die down with mini map cleanups and people actually learning the fastest routes etc (I think I read a dev say they were going to put little portal/elevator indicators on the mini map so that’s a+)

I gotta say I loved the maps. They’re straight up gorgeous, interesting, fun to explore and run around on. I loved everything I saw.
But.. that only tickled the pve-er in me. Nothing about this map strikes me as WvW. The keep designs are SO so so beautiful but I know 100% it will turn into “Turtle Wars 2” with arrow cart placements on high points where you have to run through a main pit of death, and up narrow stairs that are choke points. If you aren’t knocked down to your death, you’re dead before you can even get to them. It’ll basically turn into 5 guys with arrow carts annihilating any size of zerg that tries to take a keep or tower. That’s great if your idea of wvw is “I’m going to sit in the keep for 5 hours and press 3 buttons! (t1)” and not “I want great large scale fights!” (it would be cool to use gliders to offset how VERTICAL the map is but that’d create a lot of work just to make sure no one to effectively glide straight into a keep)
My original thought was the map would be great for roamers at least but.. not anymore. You either get killed by a pve mod (I wiped a group of 5 by myself by stealthing off veterans and having the mobs kill them), or you have to scour this huge/complicated map just to find a fight so it’ll round up to 1 fight every 30 minutes.
You could definitely replace EotM with the map, this map is so great and synergizes well with what eotm is known for. But this is not a replacement for serious wvw. This will kill serious wvw in any tier that isn’t T1 and T2 and put a 100+ queue on EB.
But like I said, look-wise the map is amazing and beautiful—the people who worked on it worked hard and did a fantastic job. The designs of the new mobs are lovely, and walking into the west keep straight up took my breath away. It’s got me REALLY excited for the new maps in HoT (pve yeahyeahyeah)—however the functionality of this map as an “exciting, fast paced fight map” is 0/100, and has a 85% chance of “everyone’s turtling everywhere and I’ve seen 100g worth of ac in the past 2 hours”
Oh also new siege—the shield generators are a cool idea but their max range on the 1 skill should be decreased. that 3,750 range outplays ballistas and could make flipping a keep nearly impossible.

lord npcs and nifhel’s 2 beasts serve a purpose though (so do keep lords)
the 54787548937 veterans, elementals, spiders, etc do not. there’s no reason for them to be there other than decoration. I wiped a group of 5 by myself just by stealthing off the veterans in the oasis and aggroing them onto the enemies and having them get 2 shot—that shouldn’t be a thing. Hilarious and trolly, but shouldn’t be there.
look at eotm—they got a lot of guards and ai stuff like turrets and the aetherblades in the middle, but other than that. no mobs, no random pve. and it does not take away from the map, it only adds to it because you dont have to shove your way through 600 mosquitos just to get where you’re going.
let’s say you finally get a solid fight with two large groups, you push them and down 10 in the first push. then a raptor decides to run into the fight and boom they’re all up again. it’s annoying and doesn’t qualify as ‘wvw’ it qualifies as ‘saved by pve’
i vote for reduce the extra mobs to a minimum (or none)
I agree with this set up if the manual conversion is NEVER coming back:
1000 gems
500 gems
250 gems
100 gems
50 gems
Having some 50s in there would be awesome since, if you’re a player like myself you blow a lot of gold on transmutation charges and makeover kits, and it would be a lot easier to simply get 50 gems then 100 gems if I wanted to buy some transmutation charges or something.
If the old currency exchange was REALLY that confusing, you could have maybe a button at the bottom to send you to the manual converter so you could have both the set amounts and veterans could get their manual converter. I love being able to get any amount I wanted, because sometimes you have an odd number of gems and without it you’d have, say 17 gems sitting around you’ll never be able to spend.
But yeah a lot of players can’t afford to drop bomb 75g for just a 150 gem item or a 200 gem one.
I played about 3-4 hours before the patch and I got only 1 exotic, the rest were ToTs, fangs, or other stuff. I didn’t really see it as an exploit, since only 3 or so other people out of the 50 or so that were fighting ever got one. They always complained about fangs or greens, so you guys didn’t really miss out on much.
And asking them to delete everything or reopening it to allow you to exploit it? That’s a little selfish, and it’d be impossible to do so, and it’d make a lot of people angry to delete the exotics they have.
