I really like the phantom hood, but I would like to see the same hood without the scary face in it. I believe it already exists on the executioner outfit? Let me have it as a helmet skin for all 3 weights.

Hey folks,
The random roll for this week already happened and we’re seeing on our internal servers that week ones missions rolled a mix of PvP and WvW missions for the first three mission slots that guilds have unlocked once you’re able to access the expansion (as you unlock deeper into your guild hall, you’ll be able to unlock more mission slots). We wanted to make sure everyone knew this information ahead of time.

We couldn’t get one of each for the first week? Then let us select going forward? This is the mega-server era of the game. No 3 players in our casual PVE guild are even on the same server! We’ve also spent the last two months grinding non-stop to prepare for next week. [/NonHostile]

Good to hear. There are many places in the game where steal and shadowstepping skills (especially shadow escape when downed) don’t work now because the ground wasn’t built with the new check in mind. Especially Honor Of The Waves, and the Silverwastes.

Latency Tuning Experiments

MrDaaark.2604

Between 10-12 EST things were really bad latency wise. We had to skip a dungeon boss that we usually steam roll over because things had gotten to the point that the game was uncontrollable.

Skills and dodges were lagging out, or being dropped entirely!

A dungeon mini-boss was killing the entire party because the animation of his attack wasn’t happening at the same time that the attack was actually happening. The actual processing of the attack happened a second after the animation had finished playing.

People and monsters were bouncing all over the place from one second to the next. This was really bad in crowded scenes.

This persisted through Arah Story, AC3, and COF1 with 3 different parties all reporting the same thing.

I keep having this problems in areas with firepit or torch ambient sounds, such as Fireheart Rise and the Ascalonian catacombs. The game will keep spawning and playing more and more instances of torch fire sounds until it crashes. I then have to kill it from the task manager.

This has only been happening to me since the last patch.

Happened again just now. I was at Thunder Ridge camp and alt tabbed out. When I clicked into the window I got hit with more and more torch sounds until I crashed.

I like the irony of “going up in flames” though.

These would be fun if they stuck around until the next expansion pack, all during HoT season. But not as map wide 30 minute events. Just have a pack(3-6?) of localized ones pop up randomly a few times a week.

There is a sale on today on Amazon UK. For 40$ CDN I can have it shipped on a CD from the UK. But it will cost just under 70$ CDN for a digital key from the US. No mention of it on Amazon Canada or any Canadian retailer.

(and still no revenant slot… )

The first is a blatant scam. HoT does not have, or will ever have, as currently stated by Anet, physical media purchase options. It’s purely digital.

It’s a box with a code in it. Try reading the thread before knee jerk posting.

Will we ever get World Boss armors like the one Triple Trouble drops?

Yes.

Let’s get a Tequatl helmet. It can be an aquarium you wear on you head with something in the water.

There can be Zhaitan chest pieces. The stats have to be very poor and not live up to the many hours of hype.

Claw of Jormag Bad Frosty Breath aqua breather.

Modniir Ulgoth centaur leggings. This is a new 2 player armor, because someone has to be the rear.

It was listed as (PC CD) this morning. But yeah, I see the pics the reviewer posted. A DVD case with a number inside. My point was it was 30$ cheaper in Canadian dollars to physically ship something across the ocean than to just get a number. The prices has gone back up since this morning, and it is 60$ Canadian, which is still cheaper.

No one locally has anything for Guild Wars. Even on the top gaming retailer’s site, a search for Guild Wars returns listings of Star Wars Funko figures.

So I still don’t don’t get a reverent slot with HoT? This is unfortunate. Sorry. I’m neither paying more, nor grinding out a new slot to access something I just would have paid 50$ for.

Looks like I will neither pre-purchase or purchase HoT.

What if the standard addition included a character slot but instead of $50 dollars it was $60 dollars? Would that make you guys happy? Probably not

Don’t be silly.

A character slot isn’t worth anything. The 10$ is simply what they choose to charge for spare ones. Which is fine.

But including some for the new class doesn’t mean they have to jack up the price.

Vote with your wallet.

Lots of silly people around so it is hard to not be silly. Who is to say they jacked up the price? I feel Anet feels their expansion is worth the $50 dollars. So if they feel it is worth the money why should they charge less for it?

Didn’t say they should charge less for it. Said they don’t have to jack it up to 60 to give us a character slot. Reading comprehension will take you far.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

MrDaaark.2604

The second pre-orders went up I went in game and clicked to check it out, and it felt like a big “kitten you” to the player base.

I don’t care that the base game is included. I think it’s great for them. And it’s helpful to someone like me who continues to make the case to his gamer friends to come and join him in Tyria. It does create a weird disconnect where it becomes more beneficial to buy HoT under a second account.

I refuse to buy a HoT if it doesn’t include character slot(s), and I find it insulting that you are trying to bundle one in for an additional 25 dollars. This is screwing over the current players, and taking advantage of newer ones who won’t know they are being charged an 150% premium for that character slot.

All 3 offers are stupid and insulting. The youtube video posted right after trying to pass off the ultimate edition as some kind of discount was infuriating. You aren’t discounting gems. You are giving 50$ worth of gems for 50$. The little in-game trinkets are not worth anything. Just like a character slot isn’t actually worth 10$. It’s simply what you choose to charge for it.

I really love this game and hope things change so I can pick it up at release. Why not make it right and just make the 5 slots standard for all purchasers, so that everyone who purchases HoT gets the same 5 slots + the game?

As it stands, the pre-order money went to a steam summer sale.

Ricochet... gone???

It maybe part of the new thief specialization line, if it is sniper for example, then it would seem logical that they put all GUN stuff together.

As an ascended P/P main character built around ricochet, pistol mastery, ankle shots, and executioner, I don’t feel too good about having most of it taken away for me, and then being forced to pay for it again.

Also, I plan to stay vanilla. A rifle or sniper spec doesn’t appeal to me at all.

If the omission of Ricochet is not an accident and is actually intended, can we sacrifice Ankle Shot to get Ricochet back? Please?

I main a p/p ricochet / executioner using 2 ascended pistols. I think I’m shafted for now.

Maybe it’s been moved to the new elite spec.

Something I think that needs to be fixed in the PS is being mindful of where you put those little green diamond markers. Sometimes I’m helping other people and they keep getting in the way and asking if I want to leave.

During the fight in Orr where the player puts on the mech suit, it’s right in the middle of the battlefield. I got asked if I wanted to leave somewhere in the neighborhood of 72 times.

Salvage Kit - Why I consider it a nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MrDaaark.2604

MrDaaark.2604

It might not be a nerf per se but it sure is a really annoying and unnecessary change.

This bit me bad tonight doing back to back AC path runs. After 2 paths I was swamped with runes. Usually I quickly salvage, deposit, and run along. Can’t do that now, because the only way to get rid of these things is to tediously drag them out one by one, or leave the instance and travel to a merchant.

No one is complaining about getting more loot. The problem is the current horrible way to interface with it. There is no current good way to deal with them, just a few really bad workarounds.

And what do you suggest?

I suggest you read my prior post, where my suggestion was made.

I always hate getting runes in my loot too. I churn through massive amounts of loot all the time and I have to constantly pull them out of my inventory screen one by one.

It would be much better if they worked with the deposit materials button, and had their own section in the material bank.

At which point, I would love to collect them.

Suggestion: player camera improvements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MrDaaark.2604

MrDaaark.2604

I was a long post drawn about my camera problems, then the news came out about the new camera, and most of my problems seem to be addressed. But I still have some sticking points.

These both have to do with the camera always focusing directly on the player regardless of the state of the game or what is happening around him.

First, the camera doesn’t take the slope of the ground into consideration. The camera works great behind the player on a level surface. It looks ahead and you get a good sense of your surroundings, but when you are on a slope (either up or down), the camera doesn’t remain behind the character relative to that slope.

If I go up a 45 degree slope, the camera should also adjust those ~45 degrees so I’m still looking “forward” relative to the world. Right now walking up an incline, or steep terrain means I’m back to looking at the floor.

I realize that it’s easily adjusted with the mouse, but when the action picks up I can’t use the mouse to target enemies, click skill buttons AND adjust the camera. These are three separate sets of inputs and one of them cancels the other two out.

Second I feel the camera is often extremely poor during combat, focusing on me instead of focusing on my fight as a whole in a way that allows me to always be aware of my target, my surroundings, and our spatial relationship.

The game has an obvious split between exploration and combat modes (as told by movement speed and healing). Why not very smoothly transition from an exploration camera to a combat camera too? Like most other 3d games.

When I have an enemy targeted, the camera focal point should transition from being centered on the player, to being centered on the midpoint between the player and target, and zoomed smoothly out so that both characters fit on screen with some breathing room around the edges, and allowing for a good view of the surrounding area.

This would solve many problems:

The game would no longer have to randomly reset the camera when certain acrobatic or shadowstep skills were used. This is especially bad when the camera ends up in bad spots, breaks the 180 rule (leaving me confused and disoriented), or both!

I would never lose track of where I am, or the location of aoes and mobs I was dodging.

I would never be confused with who or where my target was, because it would be impossible to for my target to end up off off screen.

When the fight ends, the target gets too far, or the target is un-selected, the camera smoothly re-centers on the player and exploration camera behavior is resumed.

Eg: (borrowing images from Arkham as a very loose example)

Above: Exploration mode. The camera locks to the player (+chosen offsets in settings) and looks out towards the world. Standard GW2, nothing changes (except slope adjustment)

Below: A fight has started! Camera smoothly tracks the center cross between the PC and the target. The fight is the focal point now with adequate nose room on all sides to see the environment and maintain much needed spatial awareness. Player can shadowstep, flip, flank, etc, without annoying camera resets.

Implementation-wise, the ‘fight area’ is a cube object that centers around and contains the player and target, so the mousewheel can still be used to zoom in and out, or rotate as long as the cube + a bit of nose room remains fully visible. No camera control is lost for the player. Just that the camera has to contain the fight box instead of the single player character in exploration mode.

When combat ends, the camera transitions smoothly back to where it was when combat started, or smoothly rotates back behind the player’s back.
