We just finished Path 2 by counter-bugging it. Like a boss.

You guys already know about this? Found it with a couple of buddies.

You need the [Pumpkey] and [Pumpkin Glasses] (soulbound) to get in, which you can get through bags or doors. The droprate is awful, though, used like 200+ bags to get the first one, then farmed a motherload of doors for the glasses
It’s to the south in Queensdale a bit to the east of the swamp. You’ll find the door when you use the glasses (gives a 1 hour buff) and can open it with the key. Both are used in the process, though, so if you wanna save them for the keeps, then don’t go there!

The place (consisting of pumpkin heads on tables, stairs and whatnot, and a small mill in the back, really secluded, only the door leading back to the entrance door) has loads of halloween bags on the ground and a guy with a Jack-o-Lantern for a head, called the Pumpkin King. This guy gives you a few of those bags depending on what you give him. Tried with 3 plastic fangs and some candy after that, got 2 and 4 trick-or-treat bags in return. Nothing much else, I’m afraid..

So, keep your eyes open for those pumpkeys or glasses.
Happy early Halloween!
Trick or treat!

Yeah, and they ‘fixed’ path 2 with ground that burns you with Lava damage after the first boss.

Path 1 is just silly. No way anybody is gonna pass through that amount of bombers.

Hurrah. Finally I can survive in dungeons with my new sweet build. Taking 3-4 hours with guildmates to get through 3 different dungeons, only to get 45 tokens for first run from Twilight Arbor, and 30 and 15 tokens from CoF two different paths.

This is bullcr*p.

EDIT: Also got less than half the silver from the Asuran story dungeon a few days back whereas my buddies got around 30-40 silver. And we took our sweet time with only 4 people.

Finetuned the venom build a bit, and chose Shadow Refuge and Smoke Screen as my other two other utility skills along with Ice Drake venom to chill and Basilisk venom to turn the enemy to stone for a couple of seconds.

It worked pretty well, didn’t fall much except when all the skills were on cooldown. Definitely better than having all venoms, that’s for sure.

Also if you haven’t yet noticed, Smoke screen is the best thief skill in the game when it comes to surviving ranged bosses and mobs with projectiles! With two thieves we were able to keep an almost constant smoke screen up while at the same time we pulled the melee mobs to our side of the screen one by one.

And I agree, Shadow Refuge is a must.

We tried a venom build today.
30/0/30/10/0 was my build. Mostly venom based traits and used only venoms in my utility slots.

The good thing was that all the venoms I put up would heal me for around 320-370 damage each time I hit with a venom applied, and also it would grant up to 8 stacks of might to all my party members.
The biggest thing, though, was that the venom effects applied to nearby party members. Having the bosses in constant poison/chill/immobilize or a 2-4 second stone with well timed venoms was quite useful on bosses we needed to kite.

Alas, the survivability ends pretty much there. The venoms all have over 30 sec cooldowns, and even though they heal, it isn’t much. Didn’t try using the healing signet, nor did I have huge healing power bonuses, so those might count towards the healing too. Not sure about healing power affecting life steal through the venoms — anybody got info on that?

We had an idea with a guildmate that we both take almost the same build with venoms being the big deal, and stack 16-18 stacks of might to each party member with the venoms. Didn’t get a chance to try this yet, though…

Thanks for the good replies. I see there are quite many similarities in the way people play thief in Dungeons. Haven’t really seen much use for traps outside of PVP, though…

Hello, fellow thieves.

We’ve been taking our guild to Dungeon runs for multiple times now, and most of the time get our butts kicked during the 3rd boss or so. Massive AOE and autoattack damage do no good for a thief, and the one or two stealth skills we have for losing aggro aren’t good enough when the boss jumps from person to person in an instant.

I haven’t seen many thieves in my random Dungeon run groups, nor have I seen many different playstyles other than get close with daggers/stay away with pistols and spam heartseeker/bleed skills. In our guild group us two thieves have favored damage above all else, which usually has led to our demise in the more lenghtier bosses and their instakill attacks.

(TL;DR all the questions without the blabbering)
I know there’s a stickied build thread, and I did post a question there, too. Instead of just “POST YER BUILDS PLEASE” I’d like to ask you all: how do you usually play in a dungeon? Do you try to take a more supportive or an all out offensive role?
Is there a certain weapon combination you favor above all else?
Also, even with the reasoning above: what kind of a build do you see as a good build for dungeons? Is it the survivability when going with a vitality/toughness combo, or more like a glass cannon build (power/crit/cond)?
Also what intrigues me is: Do you see much use for shadowstep skills in dungeons?

Thief Dungeon builds seem very sparse…
Anybody got any suggestions for a dungeon build? Vitality or toughness might be a must for the bigger explorable bosses, since you’re going to get buttkicked out of the dungeon with all the instakill skills the bosses have.

What about the free stealth given to massive enemy troops in WvW when the game doesn’t want to load the enemy character models?

So…

Before doing drastic changes like these, fix the boss bugs.

It wouldn’t be that bad if the bosses didn’t for example reset their health to full for no reason. The Gigantus Lupus whatever dog creature in Arah reseted 3 times for us in A SINGLE FIGHT. That means constantly fighting the boss, doing damage on him AND his dozens of minions. Then suddenly AOE faceroll. And also 9-10k damage from autoattack.

I’m also giving my vote regarding the dungeon rewards and their price, they’re WAY too overpriced right now. One might say that the rewards are for only the toughest and most hardcore players — but was that why the dungeons and their multiple path choices were implemented?

It’s not like we’re getting any far superior loot from the dungeons and their bugged out difficult bosses when compared to normal trash mob drops.

Dungeons were the thing I was really hyped up for, especially hearing the multiple paths and multiple bosses in one dungeon. Then I heard about the reward system, and that hype kind of crashed and burned.

Feels like I’m playing a WoW private server at times with all the boss bugs…

EDIT:
Also, KITTENZNZENS:

  • Add an NPC that converts tokens from one dungeon to another as long as the player has done every path in both of those dungeons. I think this would be the most balanced solution, in terms of ease of use and fitting the lore.
  • Add an NPC that converts tokens from one dungeon to another for a karma fee (ex., 50 karma to convert each token).
  • Add an NPC that converts tokens from one dungeon to another for a gold fee (ex., 5 silver to convert each token).
  • Add an NPC that converts tokens from one dungeon to another for a gem fee (ex., 1 gem to convert each token).
  • Add all of the above (and let each player pick the NPC more convenient to them).
  • Use a universal token system instead (one token type for all dungeons, possibly with some dungeons paths giving more tokens than others).

In addition to that, I would like to see this:

  • Add a small chance (ex., 1-2%) that the last boss will drop one item from that dungeon’s armor or weapon set. This will strengthen the connection between the set and its respective dungeon, and as long as players also get the fixed reward of the tokens they won’t feel that they’re just gambling, as in other games where the random drops are the only way of getting gear.

Voice talent generally not so… talented?

Have to totally agree on the monotone and bored voices at the Claw Island battle. Also the Tequatl fight.
Mostly every Dragon fight I’ve been to. The soldiers seem to forget that that there is a frigging HUGE DRAGON able to devour them whole, and one that requires soldiers and firepower to take down.

“Watch out. He’s dropping something from his wings.” Notice the dots, no exclamation marks. Hard to bring the same feel of boredom to text, but if you’ve fought a dragon, you know the voice acting.

EDIT: Alas, considering how ‘hard’ the dragon fights are (press 2 to slay elder dragon), no wonder even the NPC’s are not impressed.

Also dungeons. This might go more in the line of story and not audio itself, but the lines are laughable and it feels like our now disbanded group of ultimate dragon slaying heroes are a bunch of 10 year old kids arguing during every single story dungeon run.
Last time an NPC (mind you, it was the huge and powerful Nord lady) ran away from our dungeon story run “just because I don’t want to listen to your crap because boo hoo I’m a big baby and we hate each other” was also when one of our guildmates said “I think this happens every time we go into a story dungeon”.
