I have always played Melee ranger (preference – not interested in “Meta”).
The following build is what I have been playing as of late.
I am interested in suggestions on how to improve.
Full Melee Build:
Strengths:
Mobility on both weapon swaps
Evades and/or Blocks on both weapon swaps
Burst damage: Proc Moment of Clarity and Remorseless – Maul Slam
3 Stun Breakers
Stability
Poison Damage to assist in sustained Damage
Weaknesses:
Multiple opponent pressure
Condi Cleanse
Heavily relies on pet management (burst damage and invisibility)
Melee Ranger is unique. Even though Ranger melee skills can do high amounts of damage most of the skills are reactionary in the sense that the majority are designed to evade or react to incoming damage.
I have found the Druid trait line to be inferior for melee. Celestial form has many benefits but in my opinion you have to give up too much for it.
Let me know what you all think.
Litany of Wrath – everyone knows it sucks… how about adding a water field… at least that way you still have to actively combo heal/can be interrupted.
The only thing rangers need are better pets.
I do pretty well roaming with my Ranger and its a fun class to play, but what little the ranger lacks can be easily mitigated. This topic has been beaten to death, but there is a distinct disadvantage for rangers. Points invested into healing are somewhat negated by the lack of pet AI. Ranger is the only class that does not have Healing Power coupled with Vitality or Toughness.
My only suggestion is to make all pet skills available to the player and of course the common QQ about pet response times.
This would make up for the points “lost” in the beastmastery trait line by making players more capable at responding to his/her surroundings. Of course this would make the pet/ranger worse off then it is now without a serious response time mechanic fix.
For example:
Felines would provide a bleed when needed.
Birds would provide people who like running in zergs a swiftness cast.
Canines would provide timely interrupts for melee rangers.
Spiders could immobilize allowing for an additional escape option.
So on and so forth…
Again, this topic has been beaten to death. What I’ve said could not possibly be an original idea but I think its a pretty good one.
The gas mask needs to be brought back. I took a break from GW2 and missed out on getting one…
If an item is so popular that it has its own thread then for sure it needs to be brought back via some sort of medium whether it be trading post, gem store, or another quest.
I also really enjoy the casual playstyle of GW but this in particular seems to be a big fault in this aspect of the game. There are several skins that are not being sold on the trading post, gem store or even a returning quest (2nd chance) for those players who are new or were not able to participate during that time.
I respect the fact that many players had to put in a lot of effort to acquire those items and I would as well… if they were available to me now. But it seems like there should be an opportunity to acquire these items even if there is a penalty like having to purchase them from the gem store or having to complete a longer more challenging quest. Making certain items permanently limited is a good idea as long as they remain in circulation… having items permanently limited (specific example: the gas mask) as well as account bound / out of circulation seems like non-sense.
