PLEASE allow gathering while mounted.

You may think I’m exaggerating when I make this next statement but: the quality of life boon of being able to gather uninterrupted whilst mounted CANNOT be overstated.

In World of Warcraft, as a varying example, as a druid you COULD gather all materials while in flight form, but as any other class you could not do so while mounted. I can tell you from experience, the difference it made to be able to just run around gathering what I wanted without having to stop and start, and without having to press and channel my mount ability every single time I gathered. It made immeasurable difference to me as a gatherer whilst clearly not imploding the game economy, because if it had they wouldn’t have allowed it.

So please, ArenaNet, I’m begging you: allow us to gather while mounted.

[Suggestion] Teleportation Stone

With the increase in convenience teleport devices, instead of having one item for each individual teleport, it would be handy to have a one-stop device that you add “unlocks” to. This could include:

- Airship / Royal Terrace / Noble’s Folly / etc etc
- Home instance
- Living World Season 3 teleport unlocks
- Heart of Thorns teleport unlocks

As it currently stands, I wouldn’t purchase anything other than the Airship pass style unlock because there are just too many to warrant taking up bag space / shared inventory slots. But if I could add each of these as unlocks to a Teleportation Stone, I’d go around collecting the unlocks for their convenience.

Just a thought.

Please consider adding a repeatable mastery line to Tyria and Heart of Thorns, so that once people are capped in either location they can still continue to earn rewards and benefit from experience gains.

Fractal Suggestion: Weekly Achievement

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I was thinking earlier about how much I do actually enjoy Fractals. I like how they’re bitesize dungeons with different challenges, and always end with boss encounters.

That being said, once you’ve done the achievements, there’s little incentive to go back and do a “chunk” of Fractals; everyone ends up doing Swamps for the fastest completion of daily achievements.

To promote more attempts at higher level / challenging Fractals, and completing a selection of different Fractals, I was thinking it would be good to have a “Weekly” achievement. Here’s how it could work:

Every week, you are tasked with completing all the Fractals of one Mistlock Instability. So, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60 etc etc. (You’re tasked with completing one bracket). The reward for doing so is a significantly increased chance to get an Ascended armor / weapon, with some gold, Fractal Relics / Pristines, Encryption Keys and Stabilizing Matrices thrown in (or maybe a chest where you choose a bunch of ONE of those things, like the monthly log in reward).

PROs:

- Encourages players to revisit Fractals, without being overly grindy. (You could complete it over 3-4 days when doing your daily achievements, for example).
– Good / meaningful rewards for time investment without breaking the economy or making Ascended gear too easy to get.

CONs:
– Some of the Mistlock Instabilities are more taxing than others. I enjoyed the challenge of 41-50, but it was very time consuming compared to other levels.
– You would need to consider whether or not this achievement scaled to the Fractal level achieved by the player. Would a player at Fractals 50 only get 31-40 and 41-50, or would 61-70 pop up even though they’re not there yet. Personally, I’d say the latter out of fairness and to avoid people intentionally keeping their Fractal Scale down to avoid Achievements they don’t want to get, but there are issues with both.

Just something to consider. Let me know what you think. Any other pros and cons?

I’ve found that sometimes when my Tablet is out that I can’t move it, as the Summon Tablet spell has reactivated (even though I haven’t left the area). I then have two Tablets, one that can move and one that is static, and both trigger animations (though I’m not sure if the spells are actually triggering at both).

The Tablet movement is much more fluid than I thought it would be, and I’m really enjoying sending it to groups and spamming them with flowers

Using the staff, I’m finding that my mobility is entirely compromised by lack of movement abilities. If an enemy moves it feels really sluggish chasing them and I feel that I have no real way of catching up (the charge ability doesn’t actually travel that far and has quite a high cooldown).

Dungeon Difficulty Reward System

in Suggestions

Rationale:

Some dungeons based on their difficulty or length, take a considerable amount of time longer than other dungeons. Examples:

Citadel of Flame; path 3 is considered more challenging than path 1 or 2.
Arah; path 4 is longer and more challenging than path 3.

This is not a bad thing; variety of challenge is good. However, it can cause some groups or individuals to disregard attempting the more challenging content, either because they don’t feel like taking part in the challenge, or because they simply don’t have time when they log in.

Suggestion:

A reward system for the first completion of an explorable dungeon each day that reflects the time investment of the dungeon. Using the Gold, Silver, and Bronze standard that is used for events, the dungeon loot provided at the end of the dungeon completion is “improved” or has a greater chance at dropping nice things based on the standard that is applied to the dungeon. Each rank (hypothetically) would be as follows:

Bronze
– Recommended for players new to the explorable mode, and quicker dungeons.
– End of dungeon loot remains as it is now.

Silver
– Medium difficulty, a bit more co-ordination required, and medium length.
– A guaranteed rare, 25% more dungeon tokens, and a small chance of an exotic.

Gold
– Committed groups for challenging and long dungeons.
– A guaranteed rare, 50% more dungeon tokens, and a small (but greater than silver) chance of an exotic.

This isn’t based on actual metrics, it’s more of an example of what could be implemented.

Examples of potential assignments:

Citadel of Flame
– Path 1: Bronze
– Path 2: Bronze
– Path 3: Silver

Arah
– Path 1: Gold
– Path 2: Gold
– Path 3: Silver
– Path 4: Gold

These are just examples; they are not set in stone and may not reflect the actual assignments people would expect or want to apply.

Potential benefits:

- Makes the rewards from dungeons more meaningful based on the content and challenge completed.
– Encourages groups to take on more challenging content.
– Provides players new to dungeons with information about the dungeon ahead, and which path may best suit their experience.

Potential drawbacks:

- More rares / Globs of Ectoplasm introduced to the game. (Mitigated by being tied to first completion of the day).
– May actually put some players off attempting more challenging content if it is spelled out for them that it is going to take longer.
– Some players may not agree with the assignments of some standards over others.
– May encourage players to develop “speed-runs” of more challenging content just to get the increased rewards, or only invite certain professions to make sure the run goes faster.

Personal Experience:

I ran Arah path 4 before the changes to Simin, and while our group managed to complete it, it took several hours of blood, sweat and tears. It was the most satisfying dungeon run we had ever completed, and we loved the challenge of it, and more importantly – overcoming it. It was just a shame that when we opened that last chest after all that time, the most any of us got were Greens. It didn’t dampen the celebration at completing the content, it just would have been nice to be rewarded in relation to how hard we worked.

Thanks for reading. Feedback welcome.
