Issue with lines and freezing

totally feel you… I had an similar problem with screen freezes which I could solve with a new PSU (power supply). The lines may also indicate it could be something with the graphic card. I think it may be one of these things if its about hardware. Do you get a buzz sound through your headphones/speakers?

Otherwise… did you try things like updating drivers? Or resetting them?

If you have another PC or another PSU/GPU to change, I would test it to look if these ones are the problem. Seems to be the problem most of the times. Otherwise just give a little bit more information about your computer.

So, I was able to solve this problem simply by building in a new PSU! My GPU wasn’t the problem, still thanks for everyone helping!
(for people googling this thread if they have the same problem)

It’s not necessarily the GPU… the max temp for your card is 95C
http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750-ti/specifications

GPUs tend to have higher temp limits than CPUs… your typical GPU can get to 90+ without issue. You CPU on the other hand has a safe temp of 70.5C.

As I mentioned in my other post, you need to figure out what “Temp 2” is… Speedfan doesn’t always label the temps in an understandable manner. HWmonitor does a better job in terms of presentation. If that really is your CPU, 60C at idle is too high… I’ve stress tested my rig (simultaneous Prime95 + Furmark) and my CPU temp maxed out at 56.

HWMonitor has maxed at 48C at idle for CPU. But youre right, that programm is better. The 60+C seem to affect a part of my motherboard.

Outside the CPU and GPU, other common hardware causes of seemingly random crashes are failing RAM and power supply.

I doubt its power supply, a year ago the game worked absolutely fine with the same settings and the same PC.
And about RAM… shouldnt Guild Wars 2 apply the RAM it needs itself?
Thanks for your help!

it’s a sign of a dying GPU. experienced exactly like yours. the pc froze and got buzz sound, i can’t event close the client, had to hard reset when that happened. not long after that my GPU died. luckily still under warranty, so i RMA’ed. yesterday got a replacement card.

Good to know, that makes more sense because i watched my temperature while playing and after another crash the temperature was at 59C and most of the time its higher.
However thats like the worst case I can imagine because my warranty has expired since a few years already… but thanks for the hint!

Its not my CPU running that hot, its “Temp2” what I think is just a place in the PC. I used Speedfan to speed up my fan and watched the temperature while playing. It didnt get over 65C at any time and didnt freeze since then. However Im not sure this is yet solved because I didnt play long yesterday. But thanks for the tips!

There are many threads out there with a similar problem, however, none of the solutions has really worked and my problem may be a little bit different.

Problem:
I recently started playing GW2 again. After playing GW2 a totally random time (sometimes 10 min, sometimes a few hours), my game crashes – the screen freezes in a random color and my PC gives wierd grumbling sound lasting a second or something so i need to restart it.
I don’t have this problem with other games like, for example GTA V.

System:
Win10 Pro 64 Bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
AMD FX™-6300 Six-Core Processor 3,50 GHz
8 gb RAM
(if you need more information, tell me)

What I already tried:
- updating drivers
- changing to “Prefer Maximum Performance” at “power management mode” in the NVIDIA control panel
- closing all background applications (obviously)
- start as Admin
- turning down graphic settings

May this be related to pc heat? Because the problem occurs faster after I start playing right after the screen was freezing and the pc has not yet cooled down? “Speedfan” shows a temperature of >60°C on “Temp2” and GW2 isnt even opened.

Thanks in advcance for every hint
(maybe sorry for bad english? haha)
