I too can’t delete any characters. And yes I am typing their name in exactly and clicking “Delete” in the prompt after doing so. The window clears like it has accepted my input, however no deletions occur.
This is an unfortunate situation, one that I had thought about since I encountered GW2’s system for reviving (paying for waypoint). Perhaps a suggestion would be in a case such as this where one could not afford the cost of revival, that a free port to that characters appropriate home city would be offered.
I’m sure it might be a lot to code however, and would only benefit extreme cases such as the OP’s – but for new players not accustomed to the system, I feel it would be more forgiving.
Anyway, OP, I hope someone revived you, as it has been ~5 hours since you posted.
Update:
The routine maintenance seemed to resolve whatever issue was going on, so thankfully I have completed this step, and this thread is ready to be closed.
I’ve tried to complete this quest 3 times now, and upon reaching the ramp that leads into what I assume is a basement, the client freezes up and eventually I am kicked back into Character Select with Error Code=7:11:3:189:101 AKA Client Lost Connection to the Server.
I’ve checked my Internet connection (wired), even tried a separate connection through a different network (wireless). As far as I can see, this is not a problem on my end, as I am able to play the game without limit in all other facets, including all the personal story quests up to this one.
This is all really a shame because I was just recently able to proceed with my Personal Story after having to wait the better part of a month to have The Hatchery bug resolved. I have always enjoyed your game ANet – but lately I have been enjoying it a lot less.
Here’s my Thief
Just mixed some different set pieces and I really like it so far.
So far, this is the winner in my book, absolutely phenomenal
This did not fix the problem, but it did lend specifics to the issue.
Apparently the incorrect hyphenation appears when the Interface Size option is set to “Large.” I was able to determine this when deleting the Local.dat file caused the interface option to reset to “Normal”
The problem was gone when it is set to any other option, including “Larger”
I don’t know if this helps to narrow down the issue, but until a fix is found, I suppose I’ll have to play at a different interface size, as the odd character replacement has become quite bothersome.
Sorry if this has been asked/answered, I tried searching and couldn’t find it…
I’ve been having this bug since I installed the game on launch day, dashes appear correctly in floating text boxes, but in mails and the chat box, they appear as “?”
Example Image here
Also enemy descriptions appear with strange E’s instead of what ever is suppose to be there (sorry did not get a screen shot of this one)
I’ve ran the -repair argument as well as completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but the error persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
