Did you try to talk to golem next to the first portal? When I did this jumping puzzle with guildies, some of us died falling on the roots, below the jumping puzzle track. The you had to waypoint to closet waypoint, and go to the beggining, but when they talked to the golem, he teleported them to the last place they were. Hope I helped.
