LF Pve/Dungeon/Fractal Guild - CrystalDesert

The title pretty much sums it up. I’m not sure what my chances for success are posting a topic here, but I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m looking for a guild that does primarily PvE (sometimes I’m in the mood for PvP/W3 though).

I would prefer a guild that’s medium sized and willing to help a newer player get accustomed to some of the content (I’ve done few fractals). I’m on Crystal Desert server with two level 80’s (Guardian and Thief and working on an Ele). I plan to start really digging into dungeon/fractal running soon. I work second shift, so I play primarily late night + weekends (EST).

If I sound like a good fit, let me know. Thanks in advance.

The Future of GW2, Loot, Population, etc.

Great post, OP.

I think GW2 will be around for quite some time. It won’t have the same active user numbers as WoW, but I foresee it hanging around the top 5 (population-wise) in the coming years.

I feel Anet could be a little more engaging with the community about issues, but they still do a much better job than most other companies I’ve had experience with. They seem to be willing to address most of the issues holding the game back, let’s hope those changes are positive.

I’ve seen TESO mentioned a lot in these forums as of late and is surely the most hyped MMO releasing this year (I’m waiting to play Blade and Soul, personally). I feel a majority of that hype is the ES brand it carries. A lot of what I’ve seen is nothing new and it looks like a cash grab, but I really hope I’m wrong. I’m not playing beta so all I have is speculation.

Also, fishing.

This Game Is So Amazing

Thanks to the OP for posting this thread among all the doomsayer threads I see.

I’ve been playing MMO’s since EQ1 (where my best mmo memories are), and I’ve played just about every kind of MMO since then; F2P-P2P, Korean Grinders, Shooters , you name it. I’ve really been struck with the quality in design of this game. From the little things like sending mail on the fly to the larger things like dragon fights, dungeons or wvwvw. I’m really impressed with how Anet has tried to be its own version of a MMO. Loved GW1 too, but that one never quite roped me in because of my own personal tastes.

I won’t completely overlook glaring issues with the game, though, such as not rewarding pvp/wvw players properly (coming from a staunch pve player), or certain dungeons being imbalanced, and all the useless skills, etc. But constructive criticism can be reasonable as well. Anet has mentioned they’re working on fixes for most of these anyhow.

The lack of endgame is still the biggest issue I hear from people and I strongly disagree. I think people either compare WoW + 4 expansions to GW2 (or similar comparison) and don’t like the understandable content gap, or they just can’t grasp that Anet is trying to balance hardcore and casual content. To me, it feels like they’ve done a great job. Also, if you’ve played for 2000 hours in 5-6 months …then…you may need a break.

Speculation about expansions in the future

ANet is steering GW2 dangerously into the Asian grinder mentality of Dress Up Barbie and meaningless “achievements” and “titles”.

Play any Asian grinders lately? Yeah…I don’t see GW2 moving into that territory anytime soon (I’ve played a few…). Just about all MMOs have some sort of title system, and the whole “dress up barbie” system is also in many western games. Skins are GW2’s version of prestige. I love the idea, personally, but to each their own.

On topic:

I see an expansion being announced sometime in 2013 (maybe E3) and releasing sometime in the second half of 2014. I wouldn’t be surprised if the expansion added a nice chunk of land to the current map, but I don’t see any new professions in the first expansion (would be cool though). A new race maybe? I just hope they keep the level cap at 80.

As far as content goes, I’m glad they’re trying to work out current wrinkles in the first half of 2013, as well as introducing “Living stories”. I’m really excited to see how those play out.
