I am sorry if I come off as abrasive. In my car forum, people always jumping on someone for not searching. If this was a genuine question, I do not mean to offend.

If you had an abundance of money, throwing a few bucks at what could be hundreds, if not thousands of hours of gaming really wouldn’t be a problem. Honestly, first world problems.

If you just want to gripe about pay walls and how Anet has ruffled your feathers, well I suppose that’s a form of entertainment in itself. Have fun playing that game.

As far as things go, I brought HoT for two reasons, and two reasons only.

1) as a Mesmer main, I wanted to try out Chrono. I don’t PvE, I used to WvW exclusively but don’t even do that anymore, so I just wanted the new Mesmer stuff in PvP. That said, Chrono alone wasn’t enough for me to get HoT.

2) Pre HoT I’d decided that if there were some buff to killshot warrior, that I’d get HoT. This was the big seller for me since, while war was simply a kitten y alt for me, I loved playing killshot so much I’d pay for killshot enhancements or alterations alone. I wasnt disappointed, and frankly this alone has made playing HoT worth it

So you know, I can’t say what it is you’re looking for. Maybe GW2 was meant to fulfill something in you and hasn’t, or doesn’t anymore. What I do see is you’ve got a story running about paywalls and not affording to buy an expansion, and therefor have become very unhappy or dissatisfied about the whole thing. Change the story, change your world

“Nor the desire” It had nothing I wanted. Warrior elite spec is meh to me. I never played PvE aside from leveling and making gold. I could buy the expansion, but I don’t want to. I oppose to buying power on a moral level and I would get no content I would actually play or enjoy.

If you’re a warrior player

1) Dont play base specs. In fact, you need to alter your outlook on speccing a GW2 character now (it will always be 2 core lines + 1 elite spec from here on out).

2) There are no bunker berserker specs. Zerker, maurauder, valk, and some condi ammy’s can be used on berserker, and some only in low to mid tiers. So long as you’re not going to play in the ESL, you should be fine running berserker (if skilled enough, with right build, with a well balanced team XD )

3) META is JAM PACKED with bunker builds. Only thing Berserker can truly bring right now is Bunker Buster roll (slash roaming, slash +1, slash DPS)

“Don’t play base specs” And yet, if I remember correctly, I would have to buy HoT in order to play the elite specs. I neither have the money nor the desire to buy HoT, especially if the current state of GW2 PvP is as awful as other people have told me. If base specs are just worse than elite specs and elite specs are behind a pay wall… the game has gone Pay 2 win and I have no desire to ever touch it again.

I appreciate the advice and the information. It saddens me greatly to hear that GW2 is in such a bad spot right now.

So, I quit about 2 weeks after HoT launched. I got so frustrated with Druids and Reapers seeming to fulfill every position Warrior used to fill 2x better and the zerker meta seemed to still be alive and kicking. Additionally, I always felt that when I lost a fight to an elite spec it was simply because they were an elite spec and NOT because they were better than me. (GW2 being P2W now is a discussion for another thread, although it’s a discussion that I feel NEEDS to be had at some point)

How is the situation now?

Are elite specs dominating the field?

Does anyone still play the normal specs now?

Is critical damage / chance (zerker) still the only way to play warrior effectively?

How is Warrior’s balance now? Underpowered? Overpowered?

Dueling would be nice, but gear inspection is just… yeah nty. I’d rather not have that in GW2. I think it would bread even more irritating “You don’t have X so gtfo” into the PvE side of GW2.

And to everyone who says “Just go to a custom PvP arena” That doesn’t excuse the lack of the feature. Gentlemen’s rules tend to fall apart when you let everyone in… (6/10 times that I joined a simi full dueling server, there was a troll in the game.)

I don’t think dueling would be that hard to implement. I mean… Really…

Some people are actually talking about warriors here!? About them maybe being able to be healers?!
Dreams… Hopes… This is all I have ever wanted in GW2. To be able play a healer of some degree with my warrior.

Sorry if there is another topic like this out there, if this has been announced in an update, or is already in the game. If either of these is true I am very sorry, my bad, all that good stuff.
One more thing: I LOVE GW2. Awesome game, one of the best MMOs I’ve ever played. I just… want this feature so much T.T and my love of the game makes it hurt me even more that I can’t find it / that it’s not in the game.

Is there any way to see my teams HP over their heads in PvP? PLEASE tell me there is because it’s really frustrating not having this feature. (As shown by the rant below this question) If there is a way then I apologize for the rest of this post. I am just so frustrated with not having this feature enabled in the settings.

I found my place on GW2, Shout Warrior. Nothing else really feels right, problem is…
I have no idea when I should heal someone. The little icons for are on the corner left of my screen don’t help because it takes me eyes off the center of the screen. Not to mention how many times I’ve seen someone low while I’ve been fighting, used my shouts, then realized that they were on the OTHER SIDE OF THE BLOODY MAP. If I were to mouse over their characters I get this little bar over their heads. Downside is… Most of the time I hold Right Click in order to rotate my screen and when I’m in the middle of the fight it sucks to have to quickly mouse over someone’s character and see that they need heals JUST when they die. So, I’m stuck. I LOVE playing Shout Warrior, but I can’t stare at the corner and not pay attention to what’s going on or just stare at what’s going on and let people die because I didn’t know they needed healing.

I can just shout on instinct but I really shouldn’t have to. I heard somewhere that ArenaNet wanted a look for their UI, but it’s really frustrating for me. I just want to be able to see my team’s HP. You do it in WvW right? (Note: I don’t play WvW and I was told that HP bars were shown in WvW) Why not for teams in PvP?

Newbie questions incoming
I know you can do the shout support warrior and I’ve always liked the banners, but when I played a shout heal warrior in structured PvP it didn’t seem like the heals mattered. As much as I like damage I’ve always wanted to either play a support or have the option to switch to a support build in almost any game I play. Can you play a Warrior as a support? If so, how and what is Support Warrior? Should I reroll a guardian or another class if I want to play as a support type character?

I know there are a few other topics out there about this, but the ones I’ve found were posted quite some time ago and I don’t know how much this has changed.

There is no information regarding purchasing HoT with Gems in-game, one way or the other. There is information, however, regarding the Revenant. You absolutely will need to purchase the expansion to be able to create this new profession.
