Hopefully this post can reach developers if we can get enough players to help propose this idea. I view guild wars as a game that is more of an action game than an MMO, especially since there is no gear treadmill and the game is so balanced. This leaves the idea of an open balanced fun style of gameplay. The sandbox pvp.
Now the great gods of this are runescape( if you have fond memories of back when you were 11 owning a huge part of the wilderness with your group of online compadres) and now the more streamlined but very complex EVE online. The idea is simple. Take a space of our current game and set it up for players to own and fight over for a certain objective.
Now the game is called guild wars, so what if we just allowed singular guilds to join a server in which the PVE world can be contested for? Allowing the same events to play out except they will happen to a specific guilds owned area? The concept is simple for a beautiful game like this but the impact is massive. waypoints, world events , tradig posts, and recourses all account into your guilds owned area, and other guilds can contest as fight for another area. With balance concepts in place, a reason to own the area( like recourses) and a reason to want to defend your area can all be implanted.
Just hear me out here, potentially a very lucrative game type that takes the beautiful world of tyria and turns it into something your guild can fight for. Not a big map your server jumps on to fight in but all these spread out guilds trying to own more resources for their own members.
Of course the logistics can be worked out, but how beautiful would this be if it happened?
