I personally avoid “bot hot spots” because (1) bots irritate me and (2) there probably is a slightly greater chance that one could be caught in a sweep. But having said, calling it a “sweep” does not suggest that we block everyone in a zone, or everyone at a certain node, or anything of that sort.

I am a victim waiting on my account to be restored because of the false positive botting issue… I am already upset about this whole ordeal… much less if it happened to me ever again.

Is it fair for players to be limited in game content (that they paid for in buying the game) for fear of the greater chance of being classified as botters?

This has also happend to me. My post is not as eloquent as yours. I was checking for updates to my ticket on my work computer and it went from botting to unauthorized user.

I was in the middle of pvp and it said my account was banned for botting. I submitted a ticket because I have never used any 3rd party program or macro. After waiting two days I checked my ticket status on my work computer. It made me log in my email and confirm that it was me trying to log in since it was a different computer. When I got home from work the ban for botting message dissapeared and i got a new message saying that my account has been suspended while they invesitgate if my account was accessed by an unauthorized user.

Since I got that message: 2 different GM’s have replyed with messages saying that they have reset my password and I should be able to log in. After every attempt it keeps saying my account is still suspended.

What do i need to do?

when im farming i tend to do they same thing when an event pops but nothing precise as a macro would do because im controlling my character. I think they are banning people for farming and mistaking them for botters.

I use a logitech cordless desktop ex110 keyboard and a logitech mouse. They are both old and have no macro functions what-so-ever

I have been banned for 2 days for botting and am waiting for a reply to my ticket. I have never used a 3rd party program… I miss pvping a lot. =(

It looks like ANet has agressive software that is banning people who have not done anything wrong or a group of people has found out a way to exploit the system.

My Theory: (for your trolls out there i called it a theory)
I got “banned for botting” while pvping. I was in eternal battlegrounds jumping puzzle pulling people off the ledge and killing them. If an enemy server clicks on my character and clicks “report” it reveals my actually account name instead of “Yak’s Bend Invader”. If they /shout Report “insert name” he is botting. And people start reporting that person it might cause a false positive…

My account just got perma-banned for botting? I have never used a botting program in my life. I was in the middle of pvp when my game came crashing down… Please fix this issue asap. Find better methods for catching cheaters so that innocent people do not get caught in the crossfire!

Please fix my account. This just happend to me and I have never botted. I was fighting in WVW jumping puzzle when myself and one of my guildies ( i know because we were talking on vent with others) were both banned within 1 min of each other. This is not ok…

I think that is no bug. This is such a huge issue that GW2 would have fixed it a long time ago. Its an EASY fix! They are probably taking away jumping puzzles so that people can not farm 8 pieces of siege each day. The economy is spiraling out of control much, much faster than anyone anticipated. They are looking for all avenues to take money back out.
