Copypasta’ed from Reddit:

“So here’s my gripe: For those of us who live in places that observe DST, we’re going to be kind of screwed if we forget/didn’t know that the server wasn’t going to take our time into consideration. This wouldn’t be so much of an issue if by displaying ‘server time’ (as opposed to local), that [it] didn’t just show the same thing (server time is the same as my local time: PST). If ANet wants to to err with the neutral GMT, they should make it so that all server times reflect GMT, instead of PST. That way, there is at least a stop gap measure (in the future) for people to rely on when events occur.

Having done the jumping puzzle on every race multiple times, I actually found doing it on the larger races to be far more difficult than on the smaller ones (had the easiest time on my asura, actually). Additionally- and this may come as a shock to most of you- looking for/seeing my character messed up my jumps far more than not. The reason for this is because of the timed nature of the JP; if I’m too focused on where I am, then I’m not focusing on what’s next. The need to ‘see’ is really limited to needing to know what the pathing is (something that you pick up from trial and error/watching others), because your character’s position on the screen will never change- you make your jumps relative to your character’s position. After that, it’s just practice.

The only change that I feel this puzzle needs is tweaking the cameras for some of the extremely-sized races. Perhaps even implementing the “everyone else is a ‘ghost’ to the person doing the jumps”. All in all, don’t feel bad, Josh. Official forums are too often skewed to the unhappy populace in Tyria; you did great and will sadden a lot more people if you DON’T continue doing what you do.

Moving sPvP into the eSport Realm

Knowing that ANet has created a foundation for sPvP to become an eSport is a really exciting and fun prospect for me, because I come from a background of PvP across a few different genres (GW1, SC, DoTA, LoL, WoW arenas [ha], etc.) I really hope that things will take off as the game progresses, however, I think that there can be some improvements in this area that will make this process better.

Across every competitive game, accessibility is huge, because no players = no game and no audience interest. But what do I mean by accessibility? I feel like in this area, there are 2 types of accessibility:

#1: Player Accessibility – How easily can your casual gamer pick up the game? Does it require a deep understanding of the game to be fun?
#2: Game Accessibility – Is there a barrier preventing players from playing the game (Is it too expensive? Is it available to more than one region?)

Looking at GW2 in its current state, #1 is in the clear because going into the Mists, you have access to all the tools that you need to jump right into a match up. Additionally, you’re on even footing in terms of level and gear, so it won’t hurt you if you can’t commit to leveling/farming. Everything after that is an issue of learning strategies, with customization being completely open (skins notwithstanding).

This brings us to #2; at present, GW2 caters to quite a few regions with a one-time fee to play. It’s not a lot for all of the content that players get, however, we need to keep in mind that players that are interested in only PvP aren’t going to care about how pretty that one vista looks or how much time went into designing that shiny rainbow legendary. Players not familiar to the franchise will be unlikely to pay the game’s cost, just to play one aspect of the game. This has the added issue that audience interest will also be low because not having access to the game to play may make it more difficult to keep up/understand what’s going on- it becomes irrelevant to the viewer. As such, I propose that ANet opens their sPvP to free-to-play, allowing players to create sPvP-only accounts (with upgrade capabilities to the full game) so that game accessibility will not be a deterrence to the growth of the sPvP eSport goal.

TL;DR: ANet should open sPvP-only accounts that are free-to-play to encourage growth in their eSport community.

Slyther is correct; it’s a new icon for every 10th rank, at which point you enter a new tier.

Hint Completion: 9/10 Mailbox Fix

Hellohello, fellow achievement kittens~

Those of you dealing with the 9/10 “full” mailbox conundrum may find this helpful in your quest of completionism: Delete the mail that you got your CE/Digital Deluxe items from. For whatever reason, that single piece of mail is tracked but not counted on the counter (hence your mail being at 9/10 and new mail not coming in), so unless you delete it, you will never get that 10th piece of mail to trigger the hint.

Hope this helps some of you.

Daily Warzones (PVE)

This is by far, the most creative idea that I’ve encountered on the topic of level 80-content relevancy (and even lore continuity!) Of course, I wouldn’t suggest doing these events in the starting zones (as you’ve mentioned Plains of Ashford), but I can think of a few locations that just feel dead (e.g. The Iron Marches, mid-south Fireheart Rise, etc.) that could use this kind of pick-me-up.

My added suggestion would be to perhaps make these “warzones” encompass more than one map at any given time, so as to not have everyone flooding to only one map. Perhaps also add in a few gathering nodes that are reflective of what you would also find in Orr? All temporary, of course. Overall, great idea :]
