The Guild Wars 2 branch is in full swing on their Oakheart essences and we bring you this report hot from Draconis Mons. ArenaNet released episode five of Living World Season Three, entitled “Flashpoint”. This is the penultimate chapter leading up to the expansion later this year and it unveiled some significant plot developments as well as the largest new map of all the episodes this season. It also introduced one of the most celebrated mastery skills to date, providing an unparalleled degree of freedom of movement in the new map. There are a host of new achievements, an epic jumping puzzle, and a new collectable back piece. They really did a fantastic job of blending interesting story and fun mechanics into this release so we encourage all owners of the Heart of Thorns to login and make sure that they bank this episode to their accounts.
Some of the new content has found a permanent place in our Guild Hall. Thanks to the generosity of Squire Honor Crux, we have our own Oakheart essence right near the entrance waypoint! This provides really quick movement and tons of exploratory fun throughout the area. To add even more enjoyment to your Guild Hall experience, he has also donated Uzolan’s Mechanical Orchestra. We are grateful for these new additions that really spruce up our living space, so thank you very much Crux!
We also want to thank everyone for their frequent contributions to the Guild Hall upgrades. Poor Baroness Teigra could hardly keep the message of the day current, as donations would come pouring in every time it was updated. We’ve been spending as much time waiting for aetherium to refill lately as anything else. We finally finished Workshop Restoration 2 and have proceeded to upgrade several of the synthesizers that will provide you with opportunities to harvest higher tier materials from them.
With all of these upgrades to the Guild Hall, what else could one want? Well, perhaps your very own plot of land within it to decorate! Baroness Teigra has invited all full members of NOR to choose a spot within the Guild Hall to decorate as they please. If you think you would enjoy this roleplaying activity in the game, please read her post on the forums and get in touch with her to indicate your interest, or to ask any questions.
The GW2 branch has continued to enjoy more progress with raiding. The progression group is clearing bosses with greater efficiency and regularity and getting close to their first Slothasor kill. The first Sunday Raid Training run successfully completed the escort mission in the Stronghold of the Faithful and then made really good progress on Vale Guardian given their first time seeing it. Congratulations to all who have enjoyed success with this fun and challenging content. We look forward to more challenges to come and in getting acquainted with some new rotations after the recent balance patch from ArenaNet.
Finally, we have continued to grow in terms of promotions and new recruits. Congratulations to Crux, Cosmic Teapot, and Leodwolf on their well deserved promotions to Squire Honor. We also enjoyed seeing Ultraviolet get squired and join us as a full member. We warmly welcome a new influx of high quality recruits with ArthurLanceway, Titus, Rampagerg, Vandane, Tyler, Jemper, Goark, Skynless, SylviaLea, and Luxophian. We hope you find a home here with us in NOR and enjoy your time with us for years and many games to come.

After having spent the previous month enjoying the release of the “Head of the Snake” Living Story content, the Guild Wars 2 branch spent much of this last month “leveling up.” We completed the Guild Hall upgrade to our aetherium capacity, and after knocking out a few other smaller upgrades, we achieved level 40! This enables us to focus on the next exciting step of Further Exploration, which opens up an entirely new area of the Guild Hall with more rooms, a jumping puzzle, and a new waypoint. We’re thankful for the many generous donations that have made this possible and are still coming in. Please keep an eye on the Discord chat channel and in-game message of the day for details on what resources are currently needed.
This theme of leveling up was also seen in several aspects of end game content. Under the leadership of Zyera and Valikk, we gave more attention to our raiding aspirations in recruitment and have gained enough interest to start scheduling raiding nights with an all-NOR team! We’ve been helping each other to gear up and finish elite specializations. We’ve also seen more people pushing into T3 and T4 fractals and reap the great rewards they offer. It’s exciting to see yet another dimension of the game open up to NOR. If you are interested in raiding or progressing into higher tier fractals, don’t hesitate to speak with an officer on how to get involved.
The past month also brought a balance patch and regular sales at the Black Lion Trading post with new items as well as the return of some highly coveted ones. It sounds like a lot of gems have migrated from NORbie accounts back to ArenaNet, so keep your eyes peeled for more daily sales as there have been some really good offers. With the advent of the balance patch we also get a fresh season of ranked PvP, so good luck to all of you chasing those ranked rewards!
We’ve enjoyed some great fruit from our recruitment efforts over the past month. We congratulate Eielesa, Leo, Nivora and Desu on their promotions to squire and reception as full members. We also warmly welcome IieChigaimasu, Flizle, DawId, xBlueKhaoz, CosmicTeapot, Crux, and CATXJ as our newest recruits. Many of you have jumped right in, gotten involved, and contributed from the moment you joined and it’s a great encouragement to us. We hope you find a home here and become a long-term part of the NOR community.

Guild Wars 2 Report

Happy Anniversary to the Guild Wars 2 branch of NOR! This month marks one year since the Guild Wars 2 realm came out of retirement from NOMAD status and returned to be an active barony. Since then, we have grown from a handful of wandering, wingless adventurers to our current roster of nearly fifty active members in a full duchy with a level thirty-five guild hall and are regularly soaring to new heights. We are grateful for all of the terrific members who have helped to make the GW2 realm a fun and successful year. We look forward to building upon that success and making the next year another great run. If you’ve been thinking about playing GW2, we warmly invite you to come and take a look at the game (it’s free to play) and join us for our regularly scheduled events!
A lot has happened since the last newsletter. ArenaNet released episode four of Living Story three entitled, “The Head of the Snake.” The story picks up right where the previous cliffhanger left off, and introduces yet another world map to explore. It has received a lot of positive feedback for its unfolding story and the release also included a new raid wing, “The Bastion of the Penitent”, which is both a treat to previous Guild Wars 1 lore as well as harmonizing splendidly with the current story. The patch included some nice re-design to existing fractals, most notably “Thaumanova Reactor”, which has become more intuitive and streamlined. Those of us running fractals have really appreciated the effort ArenaNet has been putting in to keep them fun and fresh.
Over the last month we completed the “Guild Armorer 2” upgrade to our guild hall, which enables us to purchase additional armor skins with our guild emblem. We also added the ability to craft Guild Hero banners, which are much appreciated by players out in the open world during large scale events. We’re currently working on upgrading the mine, which will enable us to harvest the aetherium needed to purchase future upgrades. Zyera and Valikk enjoyed their first kill of Cairn the Indomitable, the first boss in the Bastion of the Penitent, in participation with our Project Knighthood [KNHD] guild alliance. In addition, Aranhawk has tasted success with a few take downs on the Vale Guardian with the Raid Combat Training group. Congrats to all! We’ve had growing interest in raiding again with some of our newer members, and with the experience NOR has been able to obtain with our [KNHD] friends, we hope to be able to field our own NOR team in the not so distant future. Recruitment for the Guild Wars 2 branch steadily continues. We’ve enjoyed the active participation of several new recruits NivoraFrostscar, LeodWolf, Cynkinese, Vyxian, and DesuRaider. Welcome to NOR, it’s great to have you and we hope your become long-time members of the family! We’d also like to congratulate Goblinlitter on her promotion to squire! It feels like she’s always been here and we’re thankful for her company.
As we enjoy the steady drops of new content and await word on the next expansion, we’re keeping busy with a wide cross-section of activities. Thank you to everyone who contributes to our success and we wish you all much happiness in your gaming!

Great news for New Outriders! This week, our GW2 branch is celebrating the first anniversary of our return from hibernation and the reactivation as a full branch of NOR. We’re looking back on a year filled with fun activities, like claiming and upgrading our guild hall, and meeting lots of wonderful new members.
In other news, NOR is now an official Discord partner. We have been using Discord as our voice and text chat tool for a while now, and we’re proud to have been accepted as a partner (which also gives us some nice perks on our server).

New Outriders is now level 31! Thanks to a wonderful combined effort by everyone, we were able to complete the next upgrades. Also, we are of course very excited for the next LS3 episode which is due this week. Halloween is over, the pumpkins have vanished from Gilded Hollow, and everyone is full of candy corn. While we’re quietly digesting all those treats, work on our guild hall upgrades is progressing and the regular events are going on.

Work in Gilded Hollow is progressing at a steady pace. Our recently restored tavern now serves the full menu of free boosts, all of them maxed out. Thanks to everyone who donated and made this possible, bringing our guild hall to level 29!

We completed the next step in our guild hall project: Tavern Restoration 2 was finished just in time for the Halloween festivities. Join us for a trip through the Mad King’s labyrinth, or our regular activities which are still going on despite the candy corn induced madness all around!

New Outriders – Recruiting New, Returning, and Veteran Players!
Who we are:
We are a casual, mature, family-friendly guild that has been around since 1992 when it was founded in the game “The Shadow of Yserbius” on the ImagiNation network. NOR is active in several other games such as SW:TOR, ArcheAge, Neverwinter, Black Desert, and undoubtedly more to come.
NOR has a variety of playstyles and commitment levels from very laid back to desiring to play the most challenging content, such as raids and high-tier fractals. All are welcome to pursue their main interests who believe in the core principles that have made NOR great for decades.
“To have fun and help others do the same” is the philosophy that guides us. We’re seeking additional members, both new and experienced, who are looking to become a part of our long and successful history.
What we offer:
- Weekly scheduled events for fractals, guild missions, raiding, “Name your PvE”, and even more as demand grows. Event times are typically evenings at 9pm EST and Sundays at 1:30pm EST.
- Gilded Hollow Guild Hall (level 52 and growing) with all maxed boosts; Scribing station, Arena, Guild Portal, and more!
- Dedicated website with complete roster information, forums, event calendar, and more.
- Discord server for chat and voice. NOR is an official Discord partner!
- Support for other MMOs. The friends you make here in the NOR branch of GW2 will be with you as you explore future games.
What we expect:
We are looking for friendly, mature people (comfortable with a “PG” atmosphere) who want to make NOR their home in GW2. Members are expected to be active and represent NOR 80-90% of their time. We have no problems with people joining “specialty” guilds for certain aspects of the game like RP or WvW, but NOR should be your main guild. If you are looking for a community, rather than just some folks to hang out with on occasion, we may be the place for you!
