The number only appears on your account name which is always going to be NoSoul.8593. You characters can have different/unique names and there is no number.

Hi I’m new to gw2, I am currently installing the game (5/9/13/) and i’m super happy.
But after reading into the little hint bubble under display name, I question
Will I have these .8593 after my in game name (ign if you will)
Considering NoSoul Is probs a used name, will I always have .8593 or only if there is another NoSoul around?
