Hey there,

Here are a few tidbits from the team:

  • A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
  • The goal was to make the Gem Store more like other shopping experiences, and if you think about it, there is more of that feel to it now.
  • You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
  • The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs.

So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.

I’ve been on the fence about buying gems for $$$ to buy a few things in the store. This change and (lack of) response to the outrage just put me solidly in the “never give Anet any more money” camp.

The point of kits is to keep them in use for substantial periods before switching to whatever else you want to use.

… and kits have a 1 second cooldown on swap, why? If you compare to elementalist attunments (the only comparable mechanic), the short cooldown makes it obvious the intended use is to swap in and out of them as the situation dictates. You may personally just go into Grenade kit and sit there for 10min at a time, don’t assume everybody plays the same way. I run tri-kits most of the time and I switch a lot to get the most out of the abilities (I rarely actually use the #1 on anything).

That’s perfectly fine, but why would they give engineers other utility skills if they expected everyone to swap between kits constantly? More build variety is a good thing – there’s no point in trying to get them to nerf “single kit” builds.

Old cooldowns were: Whirling 10s, Symbol 10s, Leap 20s. Most skill calculators haven’t been updated yet for this patch.

[Harvesting] Add an indicator for currently equipped tool

I would like to see an indicator added to the tooltip before you mine/gather/chop something that shows whether your currently equipped tool is higher than, lower than (i.e. you can’t harvest it) or equal to that node. I made some crappy examples of what this could look like in MSpaint; see attachment. Alternatively, the game could just show your currently equipped gathering tool as a tooltip before you harvest.

-You are supposed to fight a ghostly sword or hammer (same mechanics for both) but they are just lying there “dead” and nothing happens – they never respawn either.
